The next few weeks passed and Avery was growing a little every day. I was excited that I was having a baby girl. I had stopped working about a week ago because I wanted to be completely stress free for Avery. Zoe and Val were beginning to plan a baby shower for me and Zack and I were beginning to plan our wedding. Today, though, I decided that it would be great if just Brian and I went out just kind of a lunch date. We have been on good terms for a while now and I’m ready to become best friends with him again. The past two years have been tough between me and him but that’s all behind us now. The only thing left to do though is break the news to Zack.

I sighed and got out of bed. I knew Zack wouldn’t be happy that I want to go out with Brian, but I have to do this for multiple reasons. I threw on my sweat pants and a Vengeance University shirt and walked out.

“Zack?” I called.

“I’m in the living room.” I walked down the stairs to the living room.

“Can I run something by you?” I asked sitting down next to him. He nodded his head.

“Of course.” He said sweetly.

“Um well I was just wondering if it would be okay with you if I went out to lunch with Brian today?”

He looked at me with a frown.

“I know you don’t want me too, due to everything that has happened, but I really need to get our friendship back. Not only for my sake, but for Avery’s and Zoe’s and everyone else.”

He sighed. “Okay.”

“Thank you baby. It won’t be long. I just need to do this.”

“I understand. Don’t worry about it, I trust you.”

I smiled and leaned over and gave him a kiss. “I’m gonna get ready.” I got up and took a quick shower and got ready. I put on the best clothes I had to fit my round belly. I put on a little bit of make up and put my hair up in a simple messy bun. I wasn’t set out to look great so that would do. I picked up my phone and called up Brian.

“Hello.” He answered.

“Hey Bri. I’m ready, heading out now.”

“Okay see you soon.” He hung up. I put my phone in my purse and I walked out and downstairs.

“Zack baby I’m leaving.” I said. He came out of the kitchen and gave me a hug.

“I love you two.” He said swallowing a piece of food that was in his mouth.

“We love you too.” I smiled.

“Don’t be gone too long.”

“I won’t.” I said walking out. I got in my car and drove to a local restaurant. Brian was standing against his car when I pulled into the parking lot. I got out and walked up to him. His eyes widened a bit.

“You look like a watermelon.” He laughed.

I hit his arm. “Rude.” I laughed. “I feel pretty.” I stood tall.

He shook his head and laughed. “Let’s go inside.”

We walked inside and got seated at a table. The waitress took our drink orders and left to get them as we choose our food orders.

“So have you two figured out a name yet?” Brian asked setting down his menu.

“Yes.” I smiled.

“Okay what is it?” He laughed.

“Avery.”

“Cute.” The waitress came back and took our order.

“So what made you want to go out to lunch today?” He asked me.

“Because Brian I’m tired of not being like how we use to be. You and I both know we’ll never be able to be together so why not be friends? I don’t want Avery to grow up without knowing you. Plus, there is still a chance of her being yours.”

His eyes widened. “What do you mean?”

“Well Brian I had sex with you right around the time with Zack. There is no telling who Avery’s father is until she is here and we do a DNA test. I have a huge feeling it’s Zack’s but there still is the possibility.”

“If she’s mine then I want you to be with me Lex.”

“No Bri if she’s yours you’re going to stay with Zoe and you’re going to have half custody of her and I will stay with Zack and get married.”

“But Lex don’t you want your daughter to grow up with a family?”

“She will grow up in a family, because I’m almost positive she’s Zack’s.”

He sighed. “I’m not going to fight with you because I agree that we should be friends again, but if she’s mine we’ll have to figure something out.”

“Brian don’t worry about it. If Avery is yours you’ll have a say in literally everything. I will not take you away from your daughter.”

He smiled slightly. “Thanks Lex. So have you and Zack fully set a date?”

“You and your questions.” I laughed. “Yes we have. July 17th. You should know this by now.”

“I do. I’m just trying to make small talk.” He laughed.

“Oh.”

Brian and I spent about an hour talking and eating. Nothing else about Avery came up. We spent the time reminiscing and all that good stuff. He also had told me that he was highly thinking about proposing to Zoe but wants to wait until Avery gets here to see if she’s his or not. I really enjoyed the time I had with him. It was much needed and we made a lot of progress towards everything. I ended up leaving due to the fact I wasn’t feeling that great. I wanted to get home and rest. I had told Brian goodbye and he said goodbye to both Avery and I and I left.
