Chapter 22
Zack and I spent the next few weeks away from everyone regaining each other’s trust and also him recouping from the accident. I went to work but didn't do anything else. I was on my way to work when Brian called me.
“Hello,” I answered.
“Lex can we talk?” He asked.
“No Brian you fucked everything up once again. I almost lost my fiancée and my best friend because of it.”
“It wasn't just my fault. You were just as guilty as I was.” He seethed.
“I know I was, but you should've known better than to take advantage of me.” I told him truthfully.
“You deserved it Lex. You know you want to be with me but you are hiding it by forming this love for Zack.”
“I love Zack Brian. You don't know one goddamn thing about what I feel anymore. You lost me years ago to fucking Michelle. And you are with Zoe.”
“No I ended it with her this morning.”
“What!”
“I came to conclusion it's you I want Lex.”
I hung up the phone. I wasn't going to deal with him today. I was in no mood at all. I was finally getting back to normal with Zack and I wasn't throwing it away for someone who has hurt me many times before. I was happy with Zack. I love him. At least I think I do. I pulled into the parking lot. I sighed.
“Now for a day full of water works from Zoe,” I said to myself.
I opened the car door and got out and went inside. Zoe was curled up in a ball on the couch.
“Zoe,” I said sympathetically.
She looked up at me. Her face was red and puffy.
“What,” she said.
“I know what happened Zoe and I'm sorry but you know what he's a dick okay.”
“You’re saying this because you know he wants you Lex. He cheated on me with you and now he broke up with me because he loves you!”
“I know this Zoe but I do NOT want him.” I told her honestly.
“Stop lying to yourself Lex.”
“Why the fuck does everyone think I love him. Okay I only screwed him because I was pissed off at Zack for kissing Gena and I wanted revenge. I let go of him a long time ago. What do I have to do to prove it?”
“You can't do anything Lex. Maybe you getting married will prove it who fucking knows.”
She got up and stormed out. I guess she was going home. Great only me and Ian today.
“Ian,” I yelled. He walked out.
“Yeah?”
“Zoe has a serious case of heartbreak so she just stormed out. I guess it's just me and you today.”
“Aw shit with that Brian guy?” He asked.
I nodded. “She thinks I still love him. So she's pretty pissed off at me too.”
“Great! You guys better fix it.” He walked back to his office. I sighed and sat down where Zoe normally sits waiting for a client.
Hours passed and no one has showed up to get tatted. I guess that's a good thing seeing the fact that no one would be here. Ian definitely should start looking for new people to hire. Everyone quit but me and Zoe. It was getting close to closing time when Zoe came walking through the door.
“Zoe,” I said.
“Sorry I stormed out I shouldn't have left my job cause of it.” She sighed.
“Don't worry about it Zoe. Ian understands and everything. Nothing has happened today anyway.”
“It doesn't matter. I shouldn't have gotten pissed off at you either. It's not your fault he can't get over you.”
“It is my fault because I shouldn't have left his life like I did.”
“No that wouldn't have changed anything. I know he's gonna be happy and that's all I want.” She told me.
“He's not going to be happy until he can have me, which will be never.”
She shrugged her shoulders. “I think you guys will end up together but that's just my opinion.”
“Well whatever.”
I got up and walked back to my office before I got pissed off again. I sat down in my chair and got lost in thoughts. What if Zoe was right? What if I go and get married and then fall for Bri. Should I just go through with the wedding or should I break it off? I can't break it off. Zack really loves me and that would tear him to pieces. My thoughts were broken by my phone ringing. I pulled it out and looked at it. Zack was calling.
“Hey baby,” I answered.
“Hey. I thought it would be nice if you could come home soon.”
“I was just about to head out. What's the matter?”
“Nothing I'm just missing you. We need to discuss some stuff.” He told me.
“Alright well I have a sad broken heart Zoe so I'll be home as soon as I can.”
“Okay I love you.”
“I love you too.”
I hung up. I had a feeling that tonight was going to end up bad. I got up grabbed my stuff and hurried out the door.

I had to reread this story so i could understand the sequel. Good story, a lot of crybaby whining tho lol going to start the sequel now.
