The reception was over and we all went back to the house with the train of people we invite back; Brian and Cassandra, Johnny and Mandy, Matt and Valary, McKenna and her boyfriend Beau and Papa Gates.
“I’m glad my house can handle this many people. But I don’t know if Majesty and Ichabod can. Should we put them in the bathroom?” Zacky asked me as we pulled into our driveway.
“I think they’ll be fine baby.” I said getting out of the car.
I pulled Jimmy out of the car seat and I walked into the house, I was greeted by Majesty as I tried to walk up the stairs.
“Majesty move.” I said
She moved and thumped her tail against the wall.
Majesty is a grey Great Dane and Ichabod is a Maltese I'm pretty sure like Brian’s dong Pinkly but we just call him the little black monster devil. I walked up to the nursery and laid Jimmy in the crib hoping he wouldn’t wake up.
“He’s so big.” I heard
Brian say from the door way
“Five months.” I said
“He looks like Jimmy a lot like Jimmy.” He said coming over to me
“He really does, it’s nerve racking when I come get him because I always just see his dad. I also think what would have been different if Jimmy hadn’t died. Would I still be marrying Zacky or would I have fallen in so deep with Jimmy I’d marry him. Would Jimmy been angry about me having his baby I mean I know he would have been here right beside me, being the father I knew he wanted to be. But these thoughts are always on my mind, day and night and I don’t know what to do.” I said trying not to cry.
“Sweetie you’re babbling. But do you love Zack?” He asked
“With all my heart.” I said
“Then stop worrying. Jimmy’s not gone, he’s right here.” He said touching my chest where my heart was. “You can talk to him anytime you know that.” He added “Yeah. I also think about when Jimmy Junior is old enough, should I tell him he’s not Zacky’s kid and take him to meet Jimmy at the cemetery or if I should just tell him he’s named after Jimmy and then take him to meet him.” I said
“Stop babbling Hun, you’ll figure everything out when the time comes. Now let’s let him sleep he’s had a long day watching his parents get married. And let’s go talk to Matt.” He said
I walked out of the nursery and walked downstairs knowing Brian would close the nursery door for me. I heard Matt laughing in the living room so I walked in there and him and Johnny were arm wrestling, we all knew Johnny would lose this he was so small.
“Johnny let me try this.” I said
“Brice that’s not fair. I can’t hurt you.” Matt said as I took Johnny’s spot.
“Precisely why I’m doing it.” I said
He took my hand in his and we started.
“So I need to talk to you.” I said
“About?” He asked
“You know what about.” I said coldly
“Val?” He asked
“Yeah that.” I said
“She’s changed. Just give her some time to prove it Brice.” He said
“I’ve never trusted her; she was mean to be all the time. What should make me think otherwise?” I asked
“Give her time, she went to some kind of doctor thing and now she’s better I promise. I’ve been back with her for some time now.” He said
“How long?” I asked
“Since you were seven months pregnant.” He said
I shot a glare at him.
“Give her time.” He said
“Fine. But just for you. You are lucky I love you Matthew, but that bitch does not come near me without you here or my baby without me holding him. Got it?” I asked
“Thank you Brice. I swear she’s changed.” He said
I clawed his hand and slammed his arm down on the table.
“That wasn’t right.” He said
“I still won.” I said getting up and going into the kitchen where Brian had Cassandra perched up on the counters.
“Really guys. In my kitchen?” I asked
Cassandra hoped down and blushed embarrassedly.
“You talk to Matt?” Brian asked
“Yeah, he said she changed and I set some ground rules.” I said
He nodded.
“Did you know he started dating her again when I was seven months pregnant?” I asked
“No I did not know that. But I do now.” He said walking into the living room.
“How are you and Brian doing?” I asked Cassandra
“Fantastic, I can’t wait to get married in June.” She said
“Four months.” I said
“Yeah I’m excited.” She said I smiled and then I heard Brian.
“What the fuck!” I heard Brian yell Cassandra and I looked at each other and bolted out to where he was. Brian had Beau pinned against that wall.
“Whoa Brian let him go.” I said
“No.” He said
“What happened baby?” Cassandra said
“He was making a move on McKenna.” He said
“Brian, do you really think they haven’t slept together? They’ve been since Jimmy died.” I asked
“I still don’t like it.” Brian said
I touched his left arm and Cassandra touched his right, he let go of Beau and McKenna pulled Beau away.
“You need to calm down.” I said
He started to breathe slowly and I showed McKenna and Beau out of the house. “I’ll see you tomorrow McKenna.” I said
“Bye.” She waved getting on the back of Beau’s motorcycle.
“Are you done?” I heard Cassandra asked Brian.
Too much stuff was going on at once. Matt and Zacky were fighting, Mandy and Valary were fighting, Johnny was fighting with Papa Gates.
“ENOUGH!” I yelled
The room grew silent.
“I can’t handle this right now, I just got married and everyone is fighting. Mandy and Valary why are you fighting?” I asked
“Mandy called me a bitch.” She said
“Valary you are a bitch. So that fights over.” I said
“Papa Gates and Johnny why are you fighting?” I asked
“Because he said he could beat me at guitar hero.” Johnny said
“He can there’s that one.” I said
“Babe and Matt why are you fighting?” I asked
“He brought Val here after everything that she did to you and I’m trying to figure out why he would go back to her and put you in potential danger again.” Zacky said
“What’s your plea?” I asked turning to Matt.
“That she’s changed and she won’t do anything to harm you or anyone else. But I see this is stressing you out on your wedding day so Val and I are going to leave and you can think about this.” Matt said taking Val’s hand and leaving.
“Okay and Brian. You need to calm the fuck down, I know she’s your sister but they’ve been together for a long time okay? She loves him okay that’s what counts, I know you’re overprotective but that’s what brothers are for but you just need to calm your nerves.” I said
Everyone nodded.
“I think Brice needs to be alone with her husband.” Papa Gates said
Everyone nodded and said there goodbyes. When everyone was gone I laid down on the floor. And Jimmy started crying.
“I got him.” Zacky said sprinting up the stairs.
I ran my fingers through my hair and Majesty came and laid her head on my shoulder and Ichabod came over and laid on my stomach.
“A great husband, a wonderful son and two adorable dogs, there’s only one thing missing. That’s you Jimmy. Today was kind of tough because you had always told me when I got married and if it wasn’t to you that you would be giving me away because my father couldn’t. I love Papa Gates but it just wasn’t the same, we miss you Jimmy. You died way before your time and it’s not fair. He looks exactly like you Jimmy, it saddens me, he’s got your eyes, your nose, and your mouth. When he starts to talk I don’t know what I’m going to do if he talks like you. I love you Jimmy, I promise I’ll visit you.” I said
I smiled when Majesty licked my face.
