I was sitting on the couch in a blue knee length dress and white Chuck Taylors on; I was waiting on Zacky to get dressed.
“Mama! Mama!” A four year old Jimmy yelled coming down the stairs.
“Yes Jimmy?” I asked
“Dada says that I need to get dressed in these pants.” He said holding up a pair of jeans.
“And?” I asked
“Uncle Brian told me never to trust dada with clothes.” He said smiling
“Sweetie put those jeans on and the red shirt on your bed frame.” I said
“Okay Mama.” He said running back up the stairs almost knocking Zacky over. “Whoa there tiger.” He said walking down the stairs.
I smiled when I saw him.
“You doing alright babe?” He asked kissing my forehead
“Yeah just a little tired because Jimmy kept waking me up.” I said
“I didn’t hear him.” He said
“I know.” I laughed “He came in and poked me until I was awake and then left the room.” I added
“You can’t blame me for that one.” He smiled
“I know. When are the rest getting here?” I asked
“We’re meeting them at the gates of the cemetery.” He said
I nodded and Jimmy came flying down the stairs and into my arms
“Well hello there.” Zacky said
“Mama dada are you two ready? I want to go see Uncle Jimmy.” He said
We had decided to tell him the Jimmy was his dad when he was at least fifteen or sixteen. I smiled and hoisted myself off the couch with him still in my arms.
“Let’s go Bakers.” Zacky said
“Okay make us sound like Cheaper by the Dozen.” I said
He laughed as he locked the front door.
“I’m not having twelve kids.” I said
“I don’t want twelve kids. I only want four or five.” He said
“I don’t know if I can handle that.” I smiled
He smiled as I put Jimmy in the booster seat. We drove off to The Good Shepherd Cemetery. Jimmy was squirming in the back trying to get out of the booster seat when we pulled into the parking lot.
“Calm down Jimmy.” I smiled letting him out of the seat.
He took off towards the gates and into Brian’s arms.
“Hey there champ.” Brian said as we walked over.
I walked over and hugged Cassandra who was standing there in almost the exact same dress. Her and Brian had gotten married and now she was seven months into her pregnancy and Brian was so excited. Mandy and Johnny were still together but nowhere near getting married for some reason it had been at least five years. McKenna and Beau weren’t there today but we would see them later at Brian’s house. Matt and Val were here and married as well, I still didn’t fully trust her but I somewhat did.
“Hi little baby, I’m going to be your auntie.” I said into Cassandra’s stomach.
“How does it feel to be the one talking to the baby instead of carrying the baby?” Brian asked
“Odd.” I laughed
“You guys ready?” Matt asked
I nodded and Zacky took my hand.
“When are you going to tell them?” He whispered in my ear.
“Later.” I said
He nodded and I watched Brian walk off with my son in his arms. I smiled at the site knowing he was going to have a daughter soon. We walked up to Jimmy’s headstone and Jimmy Junior wiggled out of Brian’s grasp and sat down next to it. “Jimmy jumped into life but never touched the bottom.” Jimmy Junior read
We stood there talking to him and I was the first one in tears. Val came over and wrapped her arms around me and hugged me.
“You’d think that we’ve done this three times before this that it would get easier.” I said
“No Hun not everything gets easier.” Val said
I nodded.
We stood there for about an hour when Jimmy Junior did something Zacky and I weren’t expecting.
“Uncle Jimmy, I’m going to be a big brother soon.” He said
I felt stares come to me.
“I guess I’ll tell them now.” I said
“Guys I was going to tell you this later at Brian’s but Zacky and I are expecting a baby in six months.” I said
Everyone smiled and hugged me.
“The first actual Baker baby.” Matt whispered
I nodded and smiled.
“Let’s go back to my house and meet up with McKenna and Beau.” Brian said Zacky picked Jimmy up and everyone started walking but me.
“He’s your carbon copy Jim Jam. I love you.” I said setting the carnation I had in my hand down the on the headstone.
I jogged to catch up with the others and Zacky took my hand in his free one.
“I love you.” He whispered
“I love you too.” I said
When we all got to Brian’s McKenna and Beau were sitting on the couch with Pinkly in McKenna’s lap.
“Hey McKenna.” I said
“Hey girl.” She smiled
Brian came in and glared at Beau.
“Chill Brian.” McKenna said
I smiled and picked Pinkly up off of her lap.
The night went on and McKenna looked like she was hiding something, I walked up to her and Beau who were sitting in the kitchen.
“What’s going on guys?” I asked
“What do you mean?” Beau asked
“I can read it on your face McKenna your hiding something.” I said
“She knows me all too well Beau we have to tell her.” She said
Beau nodded.
“Brice we’re engaged.” She said
“Engaged?” I asked
“And expecting.” She said
“Oh my god Brian’s going to kill you.” I said
“No he’s not because he won’t find out.” She said
“Brian won’t find out what?” Someone came in asking
“That I’m pregnant.” McKenna said whispering the ‘ant’ part when she looked up to see her brother standing there.
“Bri breathe.” I said Brian already had the front of Beau’s shirt and had him pinned to the wall.
“Brian let go of my fiancé.” McKenna said
“Fiancé?” Brian asked pushing his arm into Beau’s neck
“Overprotective brother alert!” I yelled into the living room
“Shit.” I heard Matt said Matt, Zacky, Johnny and Cassandra rushed in and saw what I was looking at.
“Baby let him go.” Cassandra said
“No.” Brian said
“I’m not starting this again.” I said
Matt and Zacky were trying to get his arm and hand off of Beau.
“Brian we were just at Jimmy’s headstone for his year four memorial, they’ve been together since he died Hun.” I said
“Beau I swear to god if you don’t take care of my sister I will fucking hunt your ass down. Do you understand what I’m saying?” Brian asked
“Yes sir.” Beau said
Brian dropped Beau to the floor, took Cassandra’s hand and walked into the living room.
“Mama! Dada!” I heard Jimmy yelling
“Yeah sweetie?” I asked “Can we go home?” He asked yawning.
“Yeah I’ll go tell daddy.” I said
I picked him up and walked into the kitchen where Zacky was eating something random out of the fridge.
“Babe.” I said
“Hmm?” He hummed turning around to have red Jello sticking out of his mouth. “Junior’s tired and wants to go home.” I said holding in my laughter
He sucked the Jello into his mouth and swallowed it.
“Okay, go put him in the car and I’ll tell everyone.” He said handing me the keys.
I nodded and looked at the kid asleep in my arms; I smiled and walked out to the car. I put him in the booster seat without waking him up. Zacky came out and I handed him the keys and got into the passenger side of the car, he got in and pulled out of the driveway.
“You okay babe? You look a bit off.” He asked
“Yeah I’m fine just thinking about McKenna and what’s she’s going to do.” I said “What actually happened?” He asked
“She’s pregnant.” I said
He stopped at the red light at the intersection and looked at me.
“Beau is a goner if he fucks up.” Zacky said
The light turned green and all I remember was getting hit and a loud noise, and Zacky.
“Brice!” Was the last thing I heard.
