Bitter sweet sixteen
I called Alex, and my other friends Rebecca, Lisa, and Liz to come over for tonight. Jimmy had already invited the guys and their girlfriends. After Vicky left Jimmy arrived before anyone else. It was my 16th birthday but I made sure it wasn't a 'sweet sixteen'. I was wearing a black short strapless dress that puffed out a little bit around my thighs with my favorite pair of combat boots, it wasn't too fancy. I wasn't wearing my glasses because I felt like somehow they would get broken. I had dark eyeshadow and a thick layer of eyeliner on with red lipstick. I looked okay enough. Jimmy walked in as I was messing with my hair in front of the mirror in the living room. I looked over at him with a shocked expression on his face, he was wearing a black dress shirt with dark jeans and fingerless gloves, and still some smudged eyeliner around his blue eyes. "Wow you look great." He said smiling.
"Um thanks." I said awkwardly, looking down at the ground. "Well you do only turn sixteen once, and I didn't want to look bad for tonight." I said quietly.
"Oh shut up, you never look bad." He exclaimed. I looked down at the ground not replying because I didn't believe him. "Well anyways, I only invited a few other people besides the guys. I didn't want you to feel weird with a bunch of other people you don't know in your house." He said.
"Thanks Jimmy." I said smiling up at him.
Everyone started arriving at around 9 pm. The first ones to arrive were Matt, Val, Brian and Michelle. They said Zacky and Johnny were running late. Michelle and Valary both looked beautiful, as always, Val was wearing a a white top with dark skinny jeans and boots, and Michelle was wearing a short grey dress with heels. The music was playing loud but we could still hear each other talk. Brian had brought the beers and everyone seemed to have one in their hand, I tried not to drink too much at first but I had stopped caring at the 3rd drink. Alex had arrived at around 9:45, she was smiling and happy and everyone liked her, but she only had a sip or two of beer, she was wearing a green casual dress with her black chucks and her hair in its natural wavy state. Rebecca and Lisa arrived shortly after and they said Liz couldn't make it because her parents wouldn't let her. Some other guys came too, their names were Jason, Matt, and this other dude named Nick that kept hitting on me. Johnny and Zacky arrived around 10, Johnny had brought a date, her name was Lacey I think, she was really pretty and nice. Zacky had come alone, him and Alex got along really well, I was glad, they'd make a really cute couple.
Rebecca and Lisa looked great, they had brought dates but I didn't know their names. Rebecca was wearing a red tank top dress with black tights underneath and wool boots, and Lisa was wearing a blue top with white skinny jeans and blue heels. I talked with them for a little while, catching up, Lisa didn't drink but Rebecca was, but she wasn't drunk yet, she usually does get drunk at these types of things though.
Everyone was either dancing a bit to the music or sitting on the couch. I was leaned up against the wall drinking and Nick was in front of me. Nick was 19 or 20, was wearing a brown leather jacket with a white tee shirt and jeans, and had a 5 o'clock shadow. This Nick guy was kinda annoying, he just wouldn't stop talking to me.
"So a beautiful girl like you must have a boyfriend." Nick inquired. I almost grimaced at the attempt at flirting and set my 5th beer on the table in front of me.
"Um no I don't have a boyfriend." I replied honestly, I almost kicked myself for not lying to get him to go away.
"Oh really?" He smiled raising an eyebrow. He took a sip from his beer and leaned in towards me to kiss me, putting his hand on my lower back. I pulled away, avoiding his lips. He pulled me towards him violently, trying to get me away from everyone else. I obviously resisted and started trying to push him off of me, his hand reached up my skirt and I felt goosebumps on my thighs as I tried to pull away from him again.
"Get away from me!" I yelled at him but he had his hand around my wrist, I felt it bruising and I was weak from the booze, he kept groping me too. Jimmy came over shortly and pushed him down, his face fuming with rage.
"She said to get away from her scum!" He yelled at him and started punching him in the face. The music stopped when everyone noticed what was happening. Nick's face was bleeding and bruised and his nose looked broken, I knew I had to stop Jimmy but part of me just wanted to see Nick on the ground like that.
"Jimmy stop I'm fine." I said trying to pull him off of him and calm him down.
"No Shauni! This dude looked like he was about to rape you or something." He yelled.
"Come on Jimmy that's enough." Matt said pulling him off of the guy and holding him back from doing anymore damage. Nick got up and started to stumble out of the house.
"I didn't even do anything.." Nick slurred as he tripped a little bit.
"Fuck that! I saw you with your fucking hand up her skirt!" Jimmy yelled at him.
"She came on to me bro." He slurred at Jimmy.
"I did not you fucking liar!" I screamed.
"You need to leave before I fucking kill you!" Jimmy screamed at Nick as Matt pushed Nick out the door violently.
Almost everyone left shortly after the incident. Alex, Jimmy, Matt and Val stayed behind to hang out with me. It was 1 am now and my sister would be home any minute.
"I'm really sorry about what happened." Val said to me sincerely.
"We didn't even know who that guy was." Matt stated.
"Me either." Jimmy said. "No one invited him." He said with a scowl on his face.
"Don't be sorry guys it wasn't your fault." I said to them.
"I hope that guy gets burned alive." Alex said seriously and I smiled at her. Val and Alex were sitting by me on the couch as Jimmy smoked near the window and Matt sipped at a soda, we had gotten rid of all the beers because my sister would be home soon. I had changed out of my dress into my plaid pajama bottoms and a tank top. Alex changed into some pajamas she had brought since she was spending the night. This way my sister wouldn't think there was a party of any type. The TV was distracting me from my thoughts but soon I couldn't run from them anymore. My nails were digging into my arm but I couldn't stop from crying. I walked upstairs into the bathroom before it started, they'd feel awkward if I cried in front of them.
"Where are you going?" Jimmy asked.
"Just the bathroom." I said turned away from him but I knew he heard the strain in my voice.
I walked into the bathroom an automatically sunk to the ground and started to silently cry into my hands. "This is all my fault." I thought as I continued to cry for about 5 minutes.i stood up and looked at myself in the mirror. My makeup was smeared all over my face, so I washed it off so no one would assume I was crying. When I came out and walked I to the living room only Alex and Jimmy were there and Matt and Val had left.
"Oh hey Matt and Val had to go home." Alex said to me as I walked out. Jimmy got up and walked over to me, with concern in his eyes.
"Are you okay?" He whispered to me with his hands on my arms.
"Yeah I'm fine, just kind of drunk and tired." I smiled at him and he hugged me tightly.
"I'll never let a guy hurt you again like that I promise." He whispered to me.
"It wasn't your fault Jimmy." I said, hugging him back. "Nothing even happened, you shouldn't be so upset about it." I reasoned.
"He almost raped you! And look at that fucking bruise he left on your arm!" He exclaimed.
"I'm sorry." I apologized.
"You apologize way too much for no reason shortcake." He told me sadly.
"You'll get used to it." Alex yelled over to him and we both laughed.
We sat on the couch and talked for a long time, when my sister came home it was around 3 am, she was wasted and her panties were probably wadded up in her purse because she had sex hair.
"So much for having dinner with your boss!" I exclaimed with a smug smile on my face.
"Shut up Shauni!" She yelled.
"So did you get laid?" Alex asked laughing.
"Maybe! But anyways I'm going to bed and don't make too much noise!" She yelled. "And you!" She pointed at Jimmy. "You have to leave or sleep on the couch. So I can keep an eye on you." She said as she left the room.
"Just sleep on the couch, you're kinda drunk." I told Jimmy after she left the room.
"Fine." He accepted.
Alex and I slept in my room because I always had a sleeping bag.
"I don't care what you say, Jimmy likes you." She told me bluntly.
"Why would he like me?" I asked the rhetorical question out loud.
"Because he does and I don't know how you don't realize it." She said to me.
"Can we just not talk about that?" I asked her and she nodded sadly.
"Shauni?" She asked timidly.
"Yeah?" I inquired.
"You know Zacky?" She asked quietly.
"Yeah..." I said grinning.
"Do you think he likes me?" She asked.
"Of course he does! You guys would be so cute together, you should so go out!" I said all at once.
"Calm down there, we don't even know for sure if he likes me." She said grimly.
"He seemed absolutely smitten with you tonight." I stated happily.
"He's so cute." She smiled and giggled girlishly.
"Someone has a crush..." I said in a sing song rhythm.
"Shut up!" She said throwing a pillow at my face and I laughed.
We fell asleep around 4 am, there wasn't any school the next day so it didn't matter, it was a teacher work day or something, thank god. I couldn't help but to have nightmares of the night before, but worse, Jimmy wasn't there to save me. If Jimmy wasn't there that night I don't know what would've happened, but it wouldn't have been good.
Tonight was such a bitter sweet sixteen.
