Welcome to the Family, Adrian!

Chapter Sixteen

After about an hour of swimming, I was sitting on a lawn chair, sun bathing. Dad and Jimmy were inside talking about god knows what. Alex was just now getting out of the pool.
He came over to me and gave me a huge hug, him being soaking wet.
"Alex!!" I screamed. "You ass!" I pushed him off of me. He hit the ground hard and started cracking up laughing.
"Come on! It was funny!!" He exclaimed after he stopped laughing.
"Maybe for you! I was minding my own business, trying to get a tan, and then you come over here and give me a soaking wet hug."
"How could you not see that coming?"
"You're like a five year old, Alex."
"Thanks," He gave me a cheeky grin.
My dad was standing in the door way and said. "Hey, Adrian, come here."
"Uhm, okay?" I got up, Alex jumped back into the pool. Seriously, a five year old.
We got into the living room, there was my child services agent, Valarie(no, not Matt's girlfriend) and Jimmy, talking.
"Hey, Adrian," Valarie chirped.
"Uh, Hi," I said, confused as to why she's here.
"You're probably wondering why I'm here, huh?" She asked.
"Uh, yeah," I bit my lip. What the hell did Dad do?
"Jimmy, could you go out back, maybe swim with Alex?" Dad said, sounding more like a command than question.
"Yes, sir," Jimmy saluted Dad and ran out back, closing the door, then screaming 'CANNON BALL'
"He's an energetic man," Valarie stated. "Does he live here?"
"No, he's like a brother though, he comes over a lot." Dad told her.
"Okay, good." She said.
"Why is that good?" I questioned.
"Because, he just doesn't seem like a good influence on you." She said bluntly.
"Hey, how about we talk about something else," Dad chimed in. "Like, why you are here?"
"Well, I'm here to make sure everything is going well." She informed.
"Everything is perfect," I told her, crossing my arms. I've never liked Valarie.
"I'm the judge of that," She told me.
"What's wrong with the place exactly?" Dad asked, I could tell he was getting annoyed as well.
"I'm just worried that Adrian only likes it here because she can be around her favorite band. Some rockstars, who have acted out of hand under alcohol influence." She stated. "You know he past experiences with her mother and alcohol."
"Just so you know, my friends and I have cut down on alcohol consumption. A lot," Dad almost yelled.
"And for you to even think that I would only live here because my dad is famous. You are out of your damn mind. He's the best person I have ever had the fortune to know. Along with his friends, my uncles. I know, that if I were taken out of here, I would find a way back. This is the happiest I have ever been. Don't you ever compare him, or my family, to my mothers actions. Yes, she was an alcoholic. But, as her daughter, I still loved her. I may never say it. Even though she used to hit me. I still loved her, I knew she was going trough a hard time. She always reminded me that I looked like my dad. That must have been hard, to see your ex in the face of your daughter." I yelled, then walked off.
I went up to my room, closed my door, and blasted my music, Avenged Sevenfold to be exact. Just to piss off Valarie.
*Brian's POV*
After Adrian went up to her room, Valarie said something about Adrian's rant and then left. Alex and Jimmy walked in after knowing she was gone.
"Where's Adrian?" Alex asked worriedly.
"She's up in her room. I'm pretty sure she's very pissed at Valarie," I informed and he ran up to her room.
"That name sounds familiar," Jimmy said, walking into the kitchen. "Didn't Matt meet a girl named Valarie?"
"I think so, I doubt it's the same chick. He said she was really nice." I said and grabbed two beers out of the fridge.
*Alex's POV*
I ran up to Adrian's room to check on her. Brian said she was pissed at Valarie.
I knocked on her door but, got no answer. Figures, she has her music blasting. I opened the door to see Adrian face down on her bed.
I went and turned down her music, then said, "Adrian?"
"mmpphh" She replied. I guessing she said something, but who knows what.
"Adrian, whats wrong?"
"mmmmpphhhh" She said again.
"Adrian, look at me," She looked up at me, her eyes red with make-up stains going down her face. "Oh, Adrian." I pulled her into a hug.
"Alex, I hate Valarie. She's such a bitch." She cried into my shoulder. "Why does she always have to bring up what happened with my mom?"
"I don't know, baby." I calmed her down a bit.
She pulled away from my hug, "Oh, I got make up on you." She tried wiping it off, only making it smear some more.
"It's fine. I don't care." I said and pulled her back into a hug.
We stayed hugging for a while until someone knocked on the door.
"Yeah?" Adrian said.
Brian walked in, "You okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine. I just want to go swimming again." She got up, grabbed my hand, and pulled me down stairs and out to the pool.
Before she could get there, I picked her up and jumped in, her over my shoulder.
