Chapter Fifteen
*Brian's POV*
The car ride was silent. I was worried about Adrian, she's never this quiet. She's almost always talking about something that happened during the day, or we are talking about guitars, or even the type of music we like.
I looked over at her to see a tear rolling down her cheek. That's weird. Adrian never cries.
"Adrian, are you okay?" I asked. She didn't respond for a minute.
"I'm fine." She stated and looked out the window. "Just thinking."
"Whatcha thinking about?"
"What happened earlier. With those kids."
"What about it? They were making fun of you. Right?"
"Yeah, but, I punched one. I told myself I wouldn't get into any fights this year. I failed myself." She explained, a couple more tears rolled down her face.
"Adrian, you threw one punch. That's hardly a fight. You barely did any damage either."
"I still failed myself. I still consider that a fight. If I throw a punch, it's a fight."
I didn't know what else to say, so I stayed quiet until we got home. Alex was outside the door waiting, looking worried.
I got out of the car, Adrian stayed there.
"Hey, Mr. Haner. What's wrong with Adrian?" He questioned.
"Before I went to pick her up, she was in a small fight. She apparently failed herself. I don't know what to do." I explained.
"I do. She did this last year, she got into a fight as well." He explained and walked off to the car.
*Adrian's POV*
I saw Alex walking up to the car so, I decided to get out.
"Hey there," he called as I shut the door.
"Dad told you what happened, huh?" I asked.
"Yeah, he did. You just have to know you didn't do anything wrong. Yes you threw a punch. No it doesn't mean you're a terrible person." He explained.
"That's what you said last year." I stated bluntly.
"It made you calm again, right?"
"Yeah, but, this time, I was determined to not get into a fight. I failed myself." I started walking into the house.
"Adrian, I want you to know that no matter what happens, I will always love you. You've been my best friend for the past 10 years. I could live without you."
"Thanks, Alex. I doubt I would have lived without you. You hae been so supportive of me." I sniffled and hugged him. He wrapped his arms around me.
"Come on. You have a swimming pool and I haven't been in it." Alex exclaimed an pulled me up.
"Let's go!" I grabbed his hand and ran up the stairs.
"DAD!" I yelled once we got to the top.
"Adrian, you're okay!" He smiled at me.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Is it alright if we go swimming? I've lied here for... A while now. And I haven't set foot in that thing." I explained.
"Of course. Jimmy is on his way over here, by the way."
"Sweet! Pool party with the boyfriend," I poked Alex's side. "And the be-" I got interrupted by the front door being slammed open.
"IM HERE!" Jimmy yelled.
"JIMMY!! MAH BEST FRAAAANNNNDDD!!" I yelled and ran down the stairs.
"ADRIAN!" He cought me in a bone crushing hug.
"Let me go. Can't. Breathe." I said, out of breath. He put me down. "Get on some trunks, Jim-Bo, were having a little party! Just the four of us!" I exclaimed.
And with that, I went to get into my bikini, Alex went into the bathroom to put on his trunks, Jimmy and Dad went to get on their trunks. I wonder when Dad will get a girlfriend.
