Dinner With Brian

A warm hand wrapped around my waist as I warmed up a bottle for Kyler. I smiled and turned around to face Brian.

"What's up Brian?" I asked.

"Nothing much, except that you should go and get into something semi-fancy, semi-casual and make yourself look pretty, not that you aren't already," he tried to charm me. I smirked more and gave him a look.

"And why should I do that?" I asked.

"Because Eric will be home in twenty minutes and we have a reservation at seven," he smiled cheekily and kissed me quickly. I looked up at him and stared.

"Since when are you all romantic like this?" I asked. He shrugged and grabbed the bottle from the microwave.

"It just kinda came to me, go get dressed Ever!" He exclaimed with a smile and I shook my head and walked upstairs to our bedroom. He already proposed to me, our wedding is in less than two weeks, what is up his sleeve? I sighed and walked into my closet to look through my clothes. I had a few dresses I liked but they were too fancy, but I grabbed a red short dress with spaghetti straps and I smiled before changing into it quickly and grabbing a pair of black heels. I walked out of the closet and sat down at my vanity and got to doing my make up. For some reason I wanted to go for minimalist make up. Once I was done, I pulled on my heels and grabbed a bag and left the room. From downstairs, I heard Eric and Brian talking. I walked down the stairs into the family room and looked at Brian.

"Is this ok?" I asked. Brian looked up and smiled.

"Perfect, ok, let's go," he said and got up from the couch. Eric was holding Kyler and feeding her.

"When you have kids, they are going to be so spoiled," I laughed and Eric shooed me out of the house.

Once me and Brian were in the car, Brian started it and we were on our way.

"What's the special occasion?" I asked.

"What do you mean?" He asked.

"I mean, you don't normally just make reservations, not with the wedding coming up, and Kyler, and the studio," I explained and he shrugged.

"We need a night to ourselves, especially you. I can tell having you brother back is stressing you out," he said and I bit the inside of my lip. I have to talk to him about Jacob coming to stay with us while he goes to school. We arrived at a relatively fancy restaurant and both of us got out of the car. Brian grabbed my hand and we walked inside the building. The hostess smiled and Brian held up two fingers and the lady smiled.

"A table for Haner, follow me," she said and we walked into the restaurant and were seated at a table. Brian thanked the hostess and she walked away.

"I like this place," I said and Brian smiled.

"I know," he said.

"You know what freaks the shit out of me?" I asked.

"Hmm?"

"That I went from a carefree, single, obnoxious girl to a mother and almost married woman in a little over a year and a half," I said.

"You enjoyed every moment of the last year and a half," he said.

"Of course I did, except maybe seeing my mom again, but that's besides the point," I said and Brian chuckled. A waiter came to the table and smiled.

"Hello, I'm Richard, and I'll be your waiter, can I start you with some drinks?"

"Of course, can I get a glass of white wine?" I asked.

"Yes you can, and for the mister?"

"A beer," Brian answered and the waiter walked away.

"Who's driving home?" I asked.

"I can hold my alcohol, you look like you have something on your mind," he said and I raised an eyebrow.

"What?" I asked.

"What's on your mind?" He asked again and I sighed.

"Ok, well, my nephew, Jacob, the one you take to the studio, well, he's coming to California to go to school, Golden West College, and he needs somewhere to stay," I paused and looked and Brian. He was watching me with a semi bored, semi expectant face.

"Are you asking if he can stay with us?" Brian asked.

"Kinda," I said.

"Once the wedding is done with, we can renovate the basement and turn it into a mini apartment for him," Brian smiled and I smiled back.

"Really?" I asked.

"Yeah, he's a cool kid, I like him, and I can see about getting him an internship at the studio so he can have money to spend," he said and I clapped.

"Yay," I said and the waiter came back to the table with the drinks.

"Are you two ready to order?" Richard asked and I nodded.

"Can I get the Grilled chicken garden salad meal?" I asked.

"Yes you can, and for you?"

"A bourbon chicken sandwich, with steak fries," Brian smiled and we handed Richard our menus.

"Alright, that will be up shortly," he walked away and I looked at Brian.

"Did you think you would have ever divorced Michelle if you hadn't met me?" I asked.

"Well that one is random, why?" Brian asked.

"I'm just wondering," I said.

"Ok, well, Michelle and I were having a lot of troubles, she knew I wanted kids one day and she was having troubles with that because she wanted to focus on her fashion stuff, then she found out she has a one in a million chance of getting pregnant, and we grew distant," he said.

"She can't have kids?" I asked.

"She can, just not that easily," he said.

"Oh, she seems content with that though," I said.

"I have no idea what goes on her head, or why she would be ok with that, but it is what it is," Brian took a drink of his beer and I bit the inside of my cheek.

"How many kids do you want?" I asked.

"Well, back when I was with Michelle, I wanted like four kids, but now that we have Kyler and I know how happy I am with her, I only want like one, maybe two more," he answered and I nodded.

"Good answer, I want two kids," I said .

"We shall have two and a half," he joked and I smirked.

"You realize that on the big day, the entire upstairs of our house is off limits to you?" I asked.

"I realize that, and are we having it outside or in the basement?"

"Outside hopefully, depending on the weather, which I believe is in our favor at the moment," I said and he nodded.

"But the reception is down there?"

"Yep," I answered and took a breath. It is nice to be out with Brian before we are married. But I can't wait until we get married.

Notes

New chapter. So, there is one more chapter before the wedding ones. So basically, there is five full chapters left before the epilogue. So sad to see it go, I am getting all sorts of emotions right now.
