Baby Don't Cry

As long as I can touch your face, you know I'll never leave this place.

Later that night I got a call from Brian. At first I didn't feel like answering, but after the phone had been ringing for a moment, I couldn't help but pick up.

”Uh, hello?” I mumbled.

I was still laying in bed, not really feeling cheerful at all.

”Sophia? Why weren't you at work?” Brian's voice sounded concerned.

”I'm sick,” I said quietly.

”Really? Look, I've been thinking about yesterday and what happened in the car and... Can I come and see you?”

”Why?”

”I think we need to talk,” he said.

”Alright, uh... Do you want to come over or something?”

Fifteen minutes later I stood at our front door, letting Brian into the house. He looked around the house for a moment before I led him into my bedroom. Gladly there was nobody home because I wouldn't have wanted to explain anything about Brian to anyone.

Brian sat down on my bed and looked around the room with a smile. I stood in the doorway, looking at him with my tired eyes.

”Somebody bought this house today,” I mumbled quietly.

Brian's eyes focused on me and he furrowed his eyebrows.

”Really?”

”Yeah,” I nodded. He sighed and gave me a sad face.

”I'm sorry. I don't know what to say,” he admitted and shrugged.

”You don't have to say anything,” I whispered.

”Sophia... It's killing me to see you this way. I want to help you, I want you to feel better. You mean something to me,” he said quietly.

”You shouldn't be here worrying about me. I think I'm falling in love with you, the old feelings are coming back,” I admitted quietly.

”Oh.”

”Oh?”

”What do you expect me to say, Soph?” he asked quietly.

”I don't know. I guess... I guess this was just a waste of time. Maybe you should leave,” I whispered. He shook his head.

”Do you want to talk to me? About anything?” he asked me.

”No. I'm sure your wife is waiting for you already and – ”

”Stop worrying about my life for a moment, okay? I do care about you and I want to know what's going on in your head.”

”Fine, okay. I'm jealous of you,” I admitted, ”All I ever think about is that your wife gets to have you and I don't. I can't help but feel like I could've had a future with you and it hurts me to know that I won't ever have you because you just got married and when you marry someone, you marry them for life. You're not going to leave your wife, not for me, not for anyone.”

”Sophia...”

”You should've been my husband. You should've proposed to me and I should've had kids with you. We should've happened, and it hurts me to know that it's never going to happen,” I mumbled and couldn't help but shed a few tears. I tried to wipe my eyes but the tears didn't stop from streaming down my cheeks.

”I'm sure you will find somebody and – ”

”But I only wanted you. I've only now just realized that it should've been you. I'm a good person, I deserve good things. And you were the best thing that ever happened to me, Brian.”

”Don't say that, Soph. You're a beautiful girl, you have the whole world in front of you,” he told me.

”Why did you kiss me yesterday?” I asked suddenly and for a moment there he seemed to be taken aback.

”I... I don't know. I wanted to kiss you. Maybe I do have feelings for you but you have to understand that I have a wife. She's a wonderful person and I cannot hurt her in any way.”

”I wish I had never met you again,” I whispered, ”None of this would've happened. Life would be easier.”

”I guess you're right. But I would like you to be my friend,” he said, ”If that's possible.”

”I don't think I can do that,” I admitted, ”I mean... I can't forget about the way I feel. You were my first love and you know what that means to me. I... I gave my virginity to you, I gave my all to you.”

”You're so innocent, Sophia. I feel bad for ever hurting you but what's happened has happened and that's not something we can change, unfortunately,” he told me as he stood up and took a few steps closer to me.

He wiped the tears away from my cheeks before placing his hands on my shoulders.

”Eveything will work out,” he promised, ”Everything will be just fine. And I'm not going anywhere, I will be right here to help you with everything.”

”Thanks,” I mumbled and forced a smile on my face.

Brian nodded and pulled me into a tight hug and my god, I would've wanted to stay like that forever. It felt so good and right to be against his chest and body like that. It felt like my spot, and I never wanted to let go.

After Brian was gone, I couldn't help but fall into sadness again. At least he now knew the way I felt about him and the whole situation. And gladly he wanted to be my friend after everything, even if I couldn't stand being his friend. And the more I thought about it, the more I became aware of the fact that I really loved him like I had loved him as a stupid teenager.

I found it funny that the more I had tried to bury my feelings for Brian after we broke up years ago, the faster they had come back and the harder I fell back in love with him. There wasn't anything I could do about it, and there was no use fighting back. I felt like I was in love with him and that was that.

Of course it was really stupid because who knew, he could've changed a lot. He could've become a completely different person. He could've become an asshole or something a lot worse.

But the worst thing was, I knew he was the same boy he had been ten years ago. I knew he treated girls well and that he was an honest guy, and that was absolutely horrible. Because if he had become a horrible person, it would've been easier for me to forget about him and not even fall in love with him. But because he still was the same old, breath-takingly gorgeous and sweet boy I had once known, I couldn't help but fall hard for him.

Days went by as I packed my room into boxes and tried to get it as empty as possible. I had no idea where I would move but I was positive that things were going to work out. I knew I wasn't going to become homeless because if all else failed, I could've always moved back in with the rest of my family.

I still didn't know who had bought our old house but they were having a meeting with my parents later that day. I wasn't excited to see the person that would soon hold the keys to my precious home but it had to be done some day.

”Sophia, come downstairs! The buyer should be here any minute now!” My mom was shouting for me and I let out a deep sigh before getting up from my bed and marching downstairs.

Sometimes it surprised me how often I still acted like a complete teenager but I blamed it on the fact that I still lived with my parents, even though I was 25 already, and had to give them a hard time, just like any child should do for their parents.

I found my mom sitting in the kitchen just as the doorbell rang. I gave my mom a quick glare before heading to the front door. I opened it and to my surprise I saw Jimmy standing in front of me with a grin on his face.

”Jimmy? What are you doing here?” I asked and furrowed my eyebrows, ”The buyer should be here any minute now – ”

”I know,” he said as he pushed his way in. He made his way into the kitchen and I watched as he introduced himself to my mother.

”My name is Jimmy Sullivan,” he told her, ”I came to buy your house.”

”What?” I exclaimed in shock and stared at Jimmy with my wide eyes. He had to be kidding me.

You made me cry!:(:(:(
I loved the story, right from the first chapter. Sofia and Brian's first time, them separating, Brian marrying Michelle, Jimmy having feelings for Sophia, Sophia falling for Brian, Brian getting a divorce and marrying Sophia, the couple losing their child, and finally separating.

Loved it! But ending was really sad:(
