Our So Called Lives

Trust Me, I Know These Things

Amber walked downstairs the next morning. Her aunt was next to the stove, cooking breakfast. Her uncle was sitting at the table with a cup of coffee and todays newspaper in his hand. It looked like something from the 50's or a TV show or even a movie. A perfect movie.

"Amber, your aunt tells me a boy dropped off yesterday after school." Her uncle spoke looking up from the newspaper.

Amber hesitated before she stuttered out, "Y-yes a friend dropped me off."

As he set the newspaper on the table he asked, " A friend?" All she could do was nod. "Was this so called friend a boy?" Amber nodded again. "Who on earth would be your friend? Huh. What's his name?"

"His name is Z-Zack Ba-aker." She answered. *Why am I stuttering?*

"Ah the Baker's boy. I don't want him or his friends around the house. Got it?" His face was stern. Amber nodded her head in understanding, but it wasn't enough.

"I didn't hear you!" He growled.

"Y-yes I understand." Amber stuttered out.

He nodded his head, "Good. Now go to school."

Amber turned, grabbed her school bag and walked out the door. The walk was a fifteen to twenty minutes, but she didn't mind. Walking helped her clear her mind, along with music.

When she had finally arrived at school, she walked straight to her locker.

"Hey Amber."

Turning around, she saw Val standing there smiling.

"Oh hey Val."

"So I heard Zack gave you a ride home last night." Val leaned on the locker next to hers grinning like the Cheshire cat.

Closing her locker, Amber leaned on hers and crossed her arms. "Maybe. What are you getting at?"

"You like Zack. And no denying it. I saw how you looked at him yesterday at lunch."

"I don't even know him, so how can I like him."

"Trust me, I know these things." Val put her hand on chest.

Amber shook her head and laughed.

"What's so funny ladies?" Matt said smiling then gave Val a kiss on the lips.

"Nothing."

"Pfft yeah right. Come on tell me."

"If you really want to know I was laughing at how humorous your girlfriend is."

Laughing, Matt replied, "You girls are crazy."

Val put her hand over her heart and gasped, "Matt I thought you knew that before we started dating."

"Yeah. Even I knew that Matt." Zack appeared behind Matt swung his arm around his shoulders.

"Shut up Zack." Matt pushed him while laughing.

"Dorks." Amber mumbled.

"Hey who you calling dorks?" Matt asked, folding his arms.

"You and Zack. I'm sure Val would agree." Amber answered.

Matt and Zack instantly looked at Val.

"What?" Val questioned.

"Are we dorks?" Zack and Matt asked.

Val and Amber looked at each other and cracked up laughing.

"Hey guys. Whoa why are they laughing? Wait. Don't tell me they gone insane." Brian asked the guys.

"Hey Brian. Yeah I think they went off the deep end." Matt replied.

"Val."

"Yes dear."

"We should ditch them." Amber whispered in Val's ear.

Val thought for a moment and nodded. "Sorry guys, but Amber and I have some business to attend to."

"What kind of business?" Brian quirked an eyebrow suggestively.

"You caught us Bri. We are going to go have hot wild lesbian sex with each other." Amber stated and grabbed Val. "Run." She whispered.

Val and Amber ran off, while Matt, Zack, and Brian and their jaws dropped.

Once around the corner Amber and Val stopped. They looked at each other and started laughing.

"Wow I can't believe you just said that!" Val playfully slapped Amber's arm.

"Did you see their faces?" Amber said between laugh and Val nodded smiling.

Soon the laughter died down and Val spoke up. "So back to what I was saying. I know these things. You can't hide it from me." She then pointed her finger at Amber.

"Val just let it go. There's nothing there." Amber replied, folding her arms.

Rolling her eyes, "Yes there is!" Val exclaimed.

"No need to shout Val." Amber said looking around. There was a few people looking at them.
