Our So Called Lives

End Of First Day Of School

The first day had finally ended and Amber, like the rest of the student body, was glad. She sighed. *I wish Anabelle were still here, she would have liked Stephanie, Jordan, Courtney, and Amanda. Hell she would be happy for me actually making friends. * Her walking into someone’s chest interrupted her thoughts.

"Shit. I'm sorry." Amber apologized to the person while she knelt picking up her binder, along with papers that had scattered.

The guy knelt down and helped her pick up her things. "It's all right. I wasn't watching where I was going."

She looked up and her blue eyes connected to another set of blue ones. Amber smiled softly at him and stood up. He smiled back as he handed her some papers that fell out of her binder. *That smile... It’s creepy. Okay Amber just keep smiling and move on as if nothing is wrong. He seems to be a guy you don't want to get mad.*

"You’re new aren't you?" Amber nodded. The smile on his face stayed there as he continued, "I'm Tyler."

"Sorry, but I got to get home. Nice to meet you." She spoke, and then walked away as fast as she could. There was something very unsettling about him, but she couldn't pin point what it was. Either way Amber continued walking, letting her thoughts take over her mind completely. Once again she found herself running into another person’s chest. Aww crap not again.

"Whoa Amber, you in another world?" The voice said chuckling.

Looking up, her eyes connected with the green eyes that had captivated her earlier that day. "Hey Zack. Yeah, I'm kind of in my own world at the moment. My thoughts seem to keep me from paying attention."

"Ah, I know what you mean." Zack said, while nodding his head in agreement. "So run into people often?"

Laughing a bit she replied, "No, I think its just today. I ran into two people within a five to ten minute time frame."

"Who else did you run into? And also you technically ran into three people today." Zack asked quirking an eyebrow.

"Eh, some guy Tyler. Three?" She questioned.

"Yup. Val, Tyler, and me...Wait Tyler Crowley?"

"Oh right Val." She chuckled a bit before continuing. "Uh I don't know his last name. All I know is that I got a weird feeling from him."

"Hmm What did this creep look like?"

"Blue eyes, about your height, and dirty blondish hair." Amber said. *His eyes aren't as gorgeous and captivating as yours though.* She thought looking at Zack.

"Crowley. Be careful with him Ambs, he's not a good guy." Zack replied. His eyes darkened at the name and thought of this guy even near her.

"Didn't think he was. Wait Ambs? Giving me a nickname now?" She questioned.

Zack couldn't help but let a big grin appear on his face. "Hell yeah I am!"

Laughter erupted between the two.

"Hey my baseball practiced got cancelled, you need a ride home?" Zack asked smiling at Amber.

"Um sure. If you don't mind." Amber answered giving him a shy smile.

"Alright. Come on my car is this way." He said while nodding his head towards the parking lot of the school.

In the car, Amber gave Zack directions to her uncle's house, which as it turns out wasn't that far from Zack's. It didn't take long before they arrived at a white two story house.

"Here you go."

"Thanks for the ride Zacky."

"Your welcome. Do you want a ride to school tomorrow?"

Amber thought for a moment and had a feeling that it wasn't going to be a great idea if that happened. "No it's alright, I'll walk."

Zack looked at her blue eyes, "You sure?"

"Yeah. Thanks again Zack." Amber said while opening the car door and stepping out. She smiled at him as she shut the car door.

Before she could open the front door, her aunt opened it, "Who was that boy?"

"Just a friend." Amber wasn't scared of her aunt, but her uncle on the other hand was a different story.

She walked passed her aunt and went up the stairway to her room.
