Let's Lit This Song on Fire

Cartwheels Aren't Just for Kids

I retreated from Brian’s bus and went back to my father’s knocking on it until he opened up, “jezz, where have you been?”
“Sorry,” I said and walking past him and flopping on the couch.

“You didn’t answer me, where were you?” he asked me, in that overly protective father voice.

“I was hanging with Brian, talking music and shit,” I said tugging a blanket over me.

“We’re not going to have the same problems we had a few years ago are we?” he asked me.

“I’m almost thirty years old, if you don’t want me to live my life I won’t come around,” I said sitting up. “Now I’m exhausted and we have another stop tomorrow.”

He blinked at me and huffed walking away to the back of the bus. The bus soon started to move and I fell asleep soon. I'd deal with his wrath later when I wasn't dead tired.

*~*~*
The next morning I woke and we were already at the next venue. I stretched slipped on a pair of athletic pants with sports bra. I slipped on a cut up band shirt. Slipping on a pair of tennis shoes and tugging my hair up into a high bun. I grabbed my headphones out and grabbed water. I made my way into the stadium to see the stage being setup. I began my morning work out.

I ran up the steps and back down until I was half around the stadium. I found a railing that I could reach. I reached up with my back to the concrete wall, pulling my legs up as I dangled, and getting about three sets of fifteen finished before I bounded down the stairs again. At the bottom I found a spot, doing two sets up push ups of twenty-five.

I had broken out in a sweat and was ready to head back to the bus to shower. As I was walking back I bumped into Matt, “morning.”

I flashed him a smiled, “morning. I’d stay an chat but I really need a shower.”

He laughed, “did you just work out or something?”

“Yeah these stadiums I like to run the stairs and do some other stuff,” I said shrugging. “I’ve don’t it since high school.”

“Sounds intense,” he said smiling. “We’ll see you around.”

I nodded and skipped off, I did two cartwheels for the hell of it and I smiled to myself. I pulled my head phones down and saw Brian, “did you just….”

I smiled, “maybe I did…”

Alrighty then,” he said chuckling. “Someone’s in a good mood this morning.”

I shrugged, “I got to get inside and clean up. I’ll see you later.” With a wink I retreated into my fathers bus.

I stood down in the snake pit watching Avenged Sevenfold’s performance before Metallica took the stage. I couldn’t help but feel warmth wash over me when watched the way Brian was into his music so intensely. The way his mouth gaped and his eyes shut. Now I see why the girls melted when he was on stage. I couldn’t help but giggle internally when I saw the girls reach out screaming at him when he was feet away from them.

I knew he was a talented guitarist, I was a guitarist, and so I had done my research on many talented artists out there. I felt myself dancing to their music at points only to have my father laugh at me and my antics from next to me. He watched until it was time for him to gear up for the show.

Their show finished and stepped back as the crew began to switch things for Metallica to come on. Wandering towards the back to the dressing rooms to join in on the pre-show rituals of Metallica. I hugged the guys, told them to kick ass, and followed them out slowly, watching the first song then slipping back to the back.

Tonight’s show was the last show for the week, some would fly home, and some had hotels. Me personally, I had a hotel. I walked over to the stand up cooler and pulling out a bottle Jameson, followed by 7up.

“I didn’t take you for a Jameson kind of gal,” I heard behind me and saw Matt holding a beer.

I laughed, “oh really?”

He nodded, “I figured you were more of a fruity gal.”

I laughed, “I drink a little of everything to be honest…”

He smiled, “not watching the set tonight?”

I shook my head, “no, I’ve seen plenty of their shows.” I smiled, “I’ll see them plenty time and time again. “ I looked at him and smiled, “but you, you should go rock out to the show.”

He smiled, “have a good night.”

I nodded, “you as well.”

I sipped my drink and sighed heavily, it was delicious. I spun with my drink in hand, twirling my dress. I spotted someone staring at me and stopped. Brian chuckled, “don’t stop on my account…”

I smiled, “oh hello Mr. Synyster Gates…”

He chuckled, “what you drinking?”

“Jameson and 7up,” I smiled widely, sipping it. “This might be my fourth one of these since the night started.”

“So you are feeling pretty good?” he asked laughing.

I shrugged, “yeah, could say that.” I smiled, “but the night is young and I think I’m going to flip this joint…” I threw up a peace sign and sauntered out of the room. I was in need of some fun, I had spent too much time in Vegas the last month playing. I needed to have some fun once again.
