Don't Fall to Far From Where You Are

Handsome...Isn't He Though?!

I was dancing at one of the hottest spot in Vegas, where the big money was made dancing. I was dancing the best I’ve danced in my life. I stepped off the stage and made my way towards the back. I was excited I had just spent the last hour on the stage and before that I spent the last four in VIP rooms. I shoved my money in my locker, my five grand I had collected. It was amazing to earn so much sober and know what I was doing each night. It was a new high.

“Jessie, there’s a man here to see you,” I heard one of the other dancers, Sky. I turned looking at her, “he says his name is Brian.”

I smiled, locking my locker. I stepped out and there he stood. I hurried over and hugged him tightly. He hugged back, “hey gorgeous.”

I smiled, “handsome.”

He held me close for a moment. He tilted my head back, “there is the women I fell in love with.”

I smiled and hugged him tightly, “seven months baby, seven months.”

He kissed my cheek, “you done here or do you still have to work?”

I shook my head, “let me change and you can take me to breakfast.”

He smiled, “sounds good. I’ll just wait for you right here.”

I nodded and kissed his cheek. I hurried in and opened my locker. I shoved my money in my lock case then shoved in my purse. I got changed and walked out to find Brian posted against the wall.

He smiled, “ready?” I nodded and he took my hand leading me out of the club. He led me out onto the busy street and into a cab. I looked up at him and he smiled, “how have you been?”

“Busy,” I said smiling. “I work every day pretty much.”

“Are you going to come back?” he asked softly.

I bit my lip, “I don’t know yet.” He nodded and I sighed, “I love the money I am making.”

“As long as your happy with your work,” he said and we pulled up to a restaurant. I stopped the driver. Before I could pay, Brian paid. I sighed and got out.

I grabbed his hand and hurried us in. I hurried to the table I always ate at. I sat down and he looked at the menu. I heard the waitress, “the usual today Miss James!?”

I nodded, “yeah, Kim!”

She smiled, “I’ll be right over to get his order. Let me refill Jake’s coffee.”

I nodded, “no rush!”

Brian looked at me, “you come here a lot?”

“Every day for breakfast,” I smiled and leaned on the table. “They have the best pancakes.”

“Oh yeah?” he asked softly. “I think you make the best pancakes.”

“I do, but these are just as good,” I said smiling.

Kim walked over with a glass of chocolate milk and water, “what can I get you handsome?”

“Isn’t he?” I smirked winking at her.

She laughed, “he is, better keep this one around just for his good looks.”

I smiled, and Brian spoke, clearing his throat first, “sorry, I’ll have the double stack with eggs and bacon.”

“How would you like your eggs?” she asked smiling.

“Make them scrambled,” he smiled. “And I’ll just have a water.”

I smiled at Brian and she nodded, “I’ll be back shortly.”

“Did you make the big bucks again tonight Miss James?” asked Jake.

I smiled, “better believe it!”

“This handsome man you got here with you tonight must be special, you never bring someone with you for breakfast?” asked Kim as she walked over with silverware and napkins, as well as our syrup.

“This Kim, this is Brian,” I gestured to him.

She smiled, “the Brian?” I nodded and smiled. She reached out touching my shoulder, “better looking in person. Glad to meet the man you talk so much about.”

I nodded and smiled, “he’s pretty special.”

Brian looked at me, “talking about me?”

“Yeah, Kim here has been pretty awesome,” I said softly. “She is the one that got me into the local rehab center after you left.”

“My husband owns the joint, so it wasn’t hard to get her in,” Kim said smiling. “The best facility in the state, not saying that because my husband owns it, but it is!”

I chuckled, “I was there for about three months and then was released.”

“You told me about it,” he nodded.

I smiled, “I’m really tying to be better, B.”

He smiled, “I can tell.”

“I’ll come home when I know I’m ready, I still have to check in for another year every week, so I want to stay close,” I said softly. “But I want to work on us in the future. I miss you Brian…”

“I’ve missed you too Jessica,” he said softly. I sighed, and Kim placed our food on the table. Brian thanked her and we both dug into our plates. I was really happy to have here visiting with me.
