Second Heartbeat

Chapter 1

???’s POV

As I patrolled our territory, I suddenly heard a scream. My paws moved swiftly over the mud, and twig, covered ground. I followed the sweet smell of strawberry and vanilla.

I came to a clearing where a man, in his 30s, was leaning over a girl, who looked, no older than 20.

‘Mmmm, such a beautiful body,’ I heard the man’s thoughts.

He started kissing down her naked body, just before he managed to do anything other than kissing, my own body, once again, moved on its own.

I lunged at the guy and forced him off the girl. I growled and bit down on his throat, blood covered my dark brown, almost black muzzle.

Once he wasn’t fighting back I turned towards the girl and picked her clothes up. I noticed her whimper and move backwards. I whined and crawled over slowly to show I meant no harm.

She reached out and took her clothes then turned away to get dressed.

“Thanks,” she whispered before looking around totally lost.

I walked over to her and nudged her hand, before laying down. I looked at my back then her.

“Okay wolfie,” she slowly climbed on and held onto my thick fur.

I took off running through the forest back to my packs cabin.

Brooklyn’s POV

After around five miles we reached a wood cabin that would make even the richest people jealous.

The wolf came to a stop and laid down so that I could climb down.

Before my feet touched the ground four guys, who looked to be in their mid-twenties, appeared and looked at me.

A guy covered in tattoos, and muscles, moved forward and looked at the wolf. It seemed as if they were having a silent conversation. Then out of nowhere a jet black wolf, slimmer than the one that had saved me, came running out and straight towards me.

Before I could move the brown wolf knocked the black one out of the way.

Then growls and snarls were coming from both wolves as they started fighting.

“Remind me why we allow siblings in the same pack. Vengeance go take the bitch to her room. Syn leave her alone and get over here.”

As quick as the fight started it was over.

I watched as a guy, with green eyes and black hair, picked the smaller of the two wolves up and take her inside, as if she was a puppy.

“I’m sorry about that, I’m Matt.”

“Brooklyn.”

“Please come in so we can talk,” he walked back inside as the others followed him in.

I was pushed forward by the dark brown wolf.

Nervously I walked into the large house, which I’m sure was too big for four guys and two wolves.

Upon entering I could tell that they had enough for them all.

“Please sit down,” Matt said before turning to ‘Syn’, “Go change.”

I started to wonder what he meant by that, when a girl with bright red and black hair and chocolate brown eyes came down the stairs.

She looked over at me before glaring at Matt.

“Call me a bitch again and you’ll regret it Sanders.”

There was a loud growl that had everyone but me and Matt looking down. “Don’t you dare talk to your alpha like that again. Got it?” Matt yelled at her before looking at me.

I looked around the room to see the girl nod before going back up the stairs and slamming the door shut behind her.

“I’m sorry about her, she’s not used to new people coming to the house,” he smiled showing his dimples.

“It’s okay. I can go if I’m causing trouble,” I started to walk towards the front door when a guy dressed in jeans and a fitted V-neck shirt stepped into the room. I allowed for my eyes to wonder over his features and noticed he had the same coloured eyes as the girl and his hair was black and spiked up in all directions.

“Brooklyn, this is Brian, Johnny, Jimmy and Zacky. The girl is Kodi.” I looked at each guy as he pointed them out, so Brian was the guy stood in front of the door, Johnny’s smaller than the rest with a brown Mohawk, Jimmy has blue eyes and black hair which mean Zack was the one with green eyes.

They all nodded and smiled, “hi.”

I gave them all a small wave before looking back at Matt, “I really should be going. I have work tonight.”

He nodded and looked over at Brian and the two had a silent conversation before, Brian moved away from the door, “it was nice meeting you Brooklyn. We’ll possibly see you around.”

I nodded and walked out, “Wait how do I get home?”

“Just follow the dirt path and you’ll be back near the park.” Matt smiled as he walked out of the living room.

“Thank you,” with that I left and followed the path, a little unsure, until I heard a twig snap. I turned around and came face to face with the brown wolf again. I smiled and continued walking until I got to the edge of the trees. I turned around but couldn’t see him anywhere, “bye wolfie” I whispered before leaving the park and going home to get ready for work.
