Strength Of The World

Chapter twenty-eight.

The reception was in full swing. The wedding party had finished their photos, the best man and maid of honor had made their speeches, and the newlyweds had their first dance as husband and wife. Everyone was finishing up their meal when Brian walked over. "You ready Pey?" He asked her quietly. "Yeah, are the guys ready?" "They know what's going on." "Okay," she sighed, "Let's do it." Peyton placed her napkin on the table and walked over to the stage with Brian, who called for Matt and Val to come to the middle of the dance floor. "Excuse me, if we could have the bride and groom come to the dance floor. Come on, get on over here. We have a surprise for you guys. Well, you can actually thank Peyton, it was pretty much her idea." He rambled, causing the guests to laugh. Peyton rolled her eyes and smacked Brian's arm. "Shut up idiot." He grinned down at her and motioned to the piano. Peyton cleared her throat and walked over to sit down. She took a deep breath, and began playing the beginning of Warmness on the Soul. She looked over at Val, who had her hands over her mouth in a surprised manner with tears in her eyes, then looked at Matt, who just looked stunned. Brian Sr had taught her how to play piano years ago, and once she found out that Matt and Val were getting married she knew she wanted to sing it for them. While she was playing she began singing softly.

Your hazel-green tint eyes watching every move I make
And that feeling of doubt, it's erased
I'll never feel alone again with you by my side
You're the one, and in you I confide, oh.

And we have gone through good and bad times
But your unconditional love was always on my mind
You've been there from the start for me
And your love's always been true as can be
I give my heart to you
I give my heart cause nothing can compare in this world to you, whoa.

Brian hit the solo and Jimmy played the drums perfectly. With the next verse and chorus she made her voice powerful like Matt's.

And we have gone through good and bad times
But your unconditional love was always on my mind
You've been there from the start for me
And your love's always been true as can be
I give my heart to you
I give my heart cause nothing can compare in this world to you, whoa.

Now it was her turn to play a "solo" on the piano, and she hit every note. She was so nervous to do this for Matt and Val, especially in front of so many people, but she was so glad she did it.

I give my heart to you
I give my heart cause nothing can compare in this world to you, whoa

The song ended and the entire room burst into cheers and applause. Peyton smiled and stepped off the stage, and was immediately pulled into Matt's arms. "Peyton, you'll never know how much that meant to me. Now I know who to call when my voice hurts." He said, making her laugh. "I knew I wanted to sing it for you since the moment I found out you guys were engaged. It's your song." She smiled at both of her friends, Val pulled her into a hug. "I seriously love you so much dude." "I love you too!" She was released from her hug and pulled into another set of arms. "Baby I am so proud of you." Zack said into her ear. "You did so good." "Thanks babe." She said, kissing him softly. They stood and talked to their friends on the dance floor for a while before everyone moved back to their chairs. Peyton and Zack went to sit with their parents, who were currently talking about their new grandchild. "Maria we are going to have to go shopping soon!" Becky said excitedly. "Mom we don't even know if baby B is a boy or girl." Peyton said with a laugh. "Yeah but there's so much I need to buy! A crib, a swing, a rocker. I can find gender neutral things." "Oh boy, sounds like I need to find a second job." Daniel said jokingly. "Oh hush." Becky said, swatting his arm. "We have to have a nursery for our grand baby." "We'll get the nursery done, Ma. We've got plenty of time." She grinned.

After talking to their parents for a while, Zack and Peyton joined their friends on the dance floor. Peyton didn't want to over-exert herself and make herself sick, but she did want to have fun. They were currently slow dancing to Bullet for my Valentine's "Forever And Always", Peyton's head was laid on Zack's chest, and they were both just enjoying the moment. "You know, I never thought we would be doing this." Zack said to her. "What? Dancing at Matt and Val's wedding?" "No," he chuckled, "Dancing as a couple at Matt and Val's wedding. Expecting a baby. I thought I had lost you forever." "But you didn't. Everything that has happened, has happened for a reason. It all worked out the way it was supposed to. We are apparently supposed to make our epic love story go on." She said, grinning up at him. "You wanna get out of here? I know you have to be exhausted." "Yeah, let's do that. I think Matt and Val are getting ready to leave anyway." Once the song was over, Matt and Val said their goodbyes to their friends, and headed for the airport. They were going to be spending the next week in Hawaii. Shortly after they had left, Zack and Peyton said their goodbyes and headed home. Once they got there they both showered and went to bed, where Peyton fell asleep with her head on Zack's chest and his hand on her small belly.
