It's Just Business

Two - A Man of Business

Matt

Roughly, a week ago, I had sent some of my men to collect payment from a man named Christof Reinhardt. He had asked for money to put his lovely little daughter through school and to be able to save his family.

They had dealt with my father before I had taken his place. When they came to him, they were starving, his daughter needed to go to school. Most of the time, my father didn’t let his emotions get involved, but he pitied him. Christof was a German; his wife was Irish. They were trying to get into the country and become citizens. He made that happen. He paid my father back for that.

After I took over, they came to me and asked for a large amount of money about a year ago, they couldn’t pay me back. I had been lenient. Something I’m not normally known for. He had been giving me the run around, and I had enough. I gave him an ultimatum. Either he pays me back within the next week, or I take his precious daughter.

He suggested something a little bit better. He told me that his daughter recently lost her job. He offered me her employment at my front in exchange for more time to pay off his loan. I knew he would never be able to pay off the million-dollar loan. Not after the amount of interest it had accumulated in the past year. Having his daughter work for my company would just make it easier to take her whenever his deadline was up.

Today was her first day working for me, I knew this because I had paid a visit to her father last night and threatened him. I had people watching her house, her every move, and while she wasn’t home, I was going to make sure that cameras had made their way into her house so that I could keep an eye on her at all times.

I wanted to see this girl in person, but I didn’t want her seeing me, or knowing who I was. Valary would be keeping tabs on her for me whenever I wasn’t able to make it to the office. I did however, have cameras installed throughout the office, so that I could watch her while I was there.

I got dressed in a plain black suit, pairing it with a deep red dress shirt and a black tie. I knew she was going to see me, that much was unavoidable, but if she kept to herself and listened to her father, that would be fine.

I made my way to the office building. Whenever I arrived, she was already on lunch, sitting outside eating her salad while she played on her phone. I remember seeing her when she was just a kid., whenever her parents first came to my father for help. She was so small and helpless then. Now, she was a sultry little redhead, voluptuous curves, long red hair, and striking blue-green eyes. She had grown into a beautiful woman.

I wasn’t as merciful as my father had been. Whenever my little sister was born, he had become soft. He had a spot in his heart for little girls, and he would never do what I was planning to do to Annalise.

I climbed out of my car, knowing that she would see me. Quickly walking into the building, I disappeared out of her sight as I stepped into the elevator to go up to my office. I knew that this was going to be a long day. I already had to deal with a weasel who took my money and hadn’t paid me back yet. He got the message when I sent one of my lackeys to his house to take his wife from him. Now here he was at my front, waiting to plead me to let his poor wife go.

“Send him in Michelle,” I said to my personal assistant who was seated right outside of my office. Not even a minute later, she opened the door and he came rushing in. Once the door closed, I pointed to the chair that was across from me. “Sit down.” I said, an icy look in my hazel eyes.

“Please Mr. Sanders, don’t hurt her, she hasn’t done anything wrong. I promise I will get you your money!” I stared at the man. He was pleading me to let his wife go because she had done nothing wrong.

“She may not have done anything wrong, but due to your incompetence, she has to pay for it. Either you get me the three thousand dollars you owe me, by tomorrow at noon, or Your wife and son dies. Then, after I’m done murdering them in front of you, I’ll take your precious daughter and put her on a street corner to make the money that you lost. Are we understood?” I said, my voice cold and emotionless as I glared at him.

“T-there is no possible way that I can come up with three thousand dollars in one day!” he protested, I could tell he was about to cry, and honestly, I didn’t really care. “Well, then perhaps you should say good-bye to your family while you still can, because if I don’t have my money by tomorrow, I will kill them.” I said, not batting an eye. He knew what he was getting into whenever he signed the paper that sealed the deal. “Now get out of my office and don’t come back unless you have my money.” I said to him. “I am a man of business and I don’t like to be ripped off Aaron.”

Once he left, I let a sigh escape my lips. It pissed me off beyond belief to think that people actually believed that they could rip me off.

I signed onto my laptop and pulled up the security footage of Annalise’s work space. She had come back from her break, and was typing away on her computer. Far too fast for someone who just started working here.

She was up to something.

I was going to find out what that something was. Hopefully she wasn’t foolish enough to start digging into things she shouldn’t be digging into.

I didn't think anyone would see this update. Especially with how buggy the sight is. Even if i have just one reader who wants me to keep updating the story, that's enough for me!
