2 weeks later
Robyn

It had been two weeks since I caught Brian cheating on me in our bed. Today was the start of his weekend with Alexis. I pulled up to the house and sighed quietly as I got out of the car and opened the door. I helped her out of her car seat and grabbed her overnight bag. “You be a good girl for daddy okay sweetie?” I said to her.

“I will mommy!” She said back, giving me one of her “bear hugs”. This little girl was my world now. I loved her with all of my heart and I swear if Brian ever did anything to hurt her, I would kill him with my bare hands. I grabbed Alexis’ hand and walked up the steps to the porch and knocked on the door. Whenever the door opened there was that whore standing there, staring at me with a disgusted look. “What the hell do you want?” she snapped at me. Oh, I could just about kill her. “ I’m here to drop my daughter off with her father. Who is still my husband” I snapped at her.

“Well get in here you little brat” she snapped at Alexis, who looked at me. “Do not under any circumstances, listen to her Alexis” I said before looking back at Michelle. I stepped forward and grabbed her by her collar and shoved her into the wall. “You do not get to speak to my daughter, do you understand?” I snapped at her. “Why what the fuck are you gonna do about it?” I glared at her and pulled her forward and slammed her back against the wall, making sure her head slammed against it. “I’ll do worse than that next time,”

“Brian!!” I yelled, “Come say hello to your daughter before I beat the shit out of this bitch!” I heard him run down the steps and when he got close, I know that he saw the rage in my eyes.

“Leave Michelle,” he said, whenever I let go of her, she stomped off and got in her car and drove off, making sure to peel tires. “I swear to god, if I find out she is ever around my daughter, I will skin you alive, do you understand me, Brian?” I said, glaring daggers at him. “I understand Robyn,” he said quietly. “Why don’t you go inside sweetie, I’ll be in, in just a minute okay?” he said to Alexis. She hugged him and ran inside, causing him to look at me. “Robyn..” he trailed off, but I was already on my way to my car. “We have to talk about this. Please, let me explain myself”

I stopped in my tracks and turned around, “We don’t have to talk about anything Brian. There is nothing to talk about. You cheated on me, for six months. What is there to talk about?” I snapped, it hurt me to talk about it. “I would never have done that to you, but clearly it didn’t bother you to do it to me. Were you even thinking what this would do to our daughter? You were always a good father, except for that. You’ve ruined everything Brian. I don’t want to be with you anymore. I don’t want to talk to you, and I’m not talking to you unless I absolutely have to. I’ll be here Monday to pick her up. Goodbye” I said, getting into my car I sighed and pulled out of the driveway and made my way back to Matt’s place.

Matt

I sighed quietly as I waited for Robyn to get back. Ever since she moved in with me, It was all I was able to think about, not to mention, she drove Val away. She hasn’t broken off the engagement, but she’s never home. Maybe I should just call it off. I don’t love her anymore, I know she’s just using me for money, and this way, whenever she finally decides she’s ready to get back out there in the dating world, maybe her and I will have a chance together. I jumped up when I heard the door open, thinking it might have been her, but my heart sank when I saw Val

“We need to talk,” I said to her

“I want to break off the engagement” We both said those words at the exact same time, which honestly surprised me. “I understand Matt” She said to me “You’re a great guy and as much as I love you and your money, I don’t want to marry you, I see that you love Robyn, I’ve known that you have since the moment you laid eyes on her, and that’s okay. I’m sorry for sticking around and using you. You don’t deserve that” her words shocked me. I would have never thought she would say those words to me. “I’m sorry Val” I apologized “I should never have drug this on for five years”

“It's okay Matt. I just hope you get to enjoy life with her. You deserve a woman like her” She then hugged me, and gave me a kiss on the cheek, “I’ve already moved my stuff out, here is your ring back, I’m sure you can still get your money back from it. Thank you for all of the happy memories” she said before handing me the ring and walking out of the house, leaving me and my dog there alone. I actually had a chance with Robyn.

I decided I was going to cook the two of us a nice dinner. Just Robyn and I. I know it wouldn’t be a date, and that she wouldn’t be ready for a date, but I just thought it would be the nice thing to do. See if she wanted to watch a movie, spend some time together. Actually get to know one another. I pulled out my phone and dialed her number.

Robyn

I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket while I sat on a boulder at the beach. The beach where I first met Brian. I looked down to see that Matt was calling me, I debated on not answering it, but then he would worry about me, and I didn’t want that. I sighed and answered the phone. “Hello?” I said softly

“Hey are you gonna be home soon, I was cooking dinner and thought that maybe we could watch a movie or something”

“Matt- I’m not really ready for a date”

“Oh no, this isn’t a date, I promise, I just thought it would be two friends hanging out, get your mind off of everything that’s bothering you. I promise I wouldn’t ask you out on a date” he explained to me. I sighed quietly “Alright Matt. I’ll be home soon. Bye” I hung up on him and slowly climbed off of the rock and began to head toward my car.

I pulled into the driveway and got out of my car. Once I was inside, I was instantly hit with the smell of dinner cooking, I heard some Metallica playing in the kitchen. It honestly smelled so good. One thing that was off, was that Val wasn’t home, and he didn't’ say anything about her joining us for dinner. I walked into the kitchen to see Matt cooking. I couldn’t quite tell what it was though.

“I’m home!” I said, putting on a smile for him. “Oh hey, just in time!” he said cheerfully “I made us Steak, potatoes, corn and gravy for dinner, with rolls. I hope you like everything. I was thinking that we could sit in the living room and eat while we watched our movie.” He had such a goofy smile on his face, that it was so hard not to give a genuine smile. “That sounds good Matt,” I said. I began to make myself a plate. It smelled so good and I honestly hadn’t eaten properly in days.

“Val and I broke off the engagement.”
