Secrets I Have Held In My Heart

Falling Into Place

Robyn

I had spent the past two weeks looking for apartments. Matt was constantly telling me that none of them were good enough, they were too high priced, or they were in a bad area. I knew he wouldn’t be satisfied with any of the ones that I had found, simply because he didn’t want me to leave his house. He had begged me every day not to leave him. Tried making me feel like shit.

He succeeded. Making me feel like shit for leaving, but I had to do what was best for Alexis, and best for Matt and Brian’s friendship, and that was to get out of the picture of both of their lives. Completely. I was going to finish up this divorce with Brian. Then, I was going to get full custody of Alexis. He could see her. If he so chose to.

I felt my phone vibrate. It was another text from Matt.

Please come back Robyn

I locked my phone and went back to taking care of breakfast.

I ended up finding a house, not an apartment. I had bought a small two bedroom house. That was all I needed. A house with enough room for Alexis and I.

Alexis was still sleeping, and I was cooking some breakfast for the two of us whenever I heard a knock on my door. Only a few people knew where I lived. I suspected who it was though. One thing that I was thankful for, was that Storm was a quiet dog… most of the time, he knew when not to bark, he would just whine softly if there was something wrong and Alexis was asleep.

Matt

I hadn’t seen or really even talked to Robyn since she moved out. Neither had Brian. We were both worried about her, me more so than him. He hated her for everything she did, despite the fact that he was the one who broke her.

I needed to see her.

I needed to hear her voice again.

I pulled into the driveway of the house that she had bought for her and Alexis. It was small, no bigger than what she really needed. I put the car in park and checked my phone for any messages. I had sent her a text before I left. She didn’t respond. I knew she wouldn’t.
I took a deep breath before getting out of my car. Walking up the steps I stood on her front porch for a moment before knocking on the door.

I didn’t know how long I stood there, it felt like a thousand years. Finally, she opened the door. She looked beautiful. Storm was laying down on the couch, and I was assuming that Alexis was asleep.

“Hello Matt,” she said, looking up at me.

God, I forgot how beautiful she was. I was absolutely in love with this woman.

“Could I come in?” I asked her, giving her a small smile. She stood there for a moment before stepping to the side. I smiled lightly and walked into the house, listening as she closed the door behind me.

“It looks nice Robyn,” I told her.

“Why are you here?” she asked simply, walking back to the kitchen. I followed her, trying to figure out how I was going to tell her the good news.

“I know you want to focus on you and Alexis, but I really wish that you would give us a try.” I said to her. She knew how much I loved her, how much I cared for her and her daughter.

“Matt you already know my answer. As much as I would love to I don’t want to-”

I cut her off before she could finish. “I know. You don’t want to ruin Brian and I’s relationship. You’re not going to. I promise. Ever since you disappeared off of the face of the earth, he sobered up. He’s moved on, he hates you, I don’t know what he thinks gives him the right to, but he and I fixed things between us. He told me that he understood why I was doing what I was doing, and that he wishes us the best. He understands that I love you. He understands that I never did any of the things that I did to hurt him. I promise you that he says it's okay. He wants his friend to be happy. Please Robyn. Please give us a chance.” I begged her.

She stared at me like she didn’t believe a word that I just said. I could tell that she was having trouble deciding on what to say and whether or not she wanted to agree. I chewed on my lip for a moment before walking over to her. I grabbed her waist and pulled her to me. She stared into my eyes and without hesitating, I leaned down and captured her lips in a kiss.

Surprisingly she didn’t pull away. After a moment, she wrapped he arms around my neck and kissed me back. It made my heart soar and I was glad that she was kissing me back. I was silently praying that this was her saying yes and not fucking around with me. After a moment, she pulled away, looking up at me. She had mixed emotions written all over her face.

“I guess it couldn’t hurt anything,” She said in a soft tone. A smile came across my face. I picked her up and spun her in a circle, causing a squeal to leave her mouth. I set her down on her counter and looked into her eyes.

“I promise you won’t regret this Robyn.” I said to her. I leaned forward and kissed her lips before pulling away. I ran a thumb across her cheek and stared into her chocolate eyes. I kissed her forehead and then took a step back. I pulled my wallet out and pulled a credit card out of it before handing it to her, receiving a confused look in return.

“I want you to go out and find something nice to wear tonight. Be ready by eight. You don’t have to worry about finding someone to watch Alexis or Storm. Amy volunteered if all went well. I’m going to take you out for the best night of your life.” I told her, a smile coming across my face.

“O-Okay,” she said, still stunned by the whole thing. “Did you have this planned out from the moment that you left your house?” she asked me, narrowing her eyes in suspicion. I couldn’t help but smile.

“Perhaps” I chuckled lightly, rubbing the back of my neck.

“What would you have done if I said no?” She asked, still staring at me with her suspicious face.

“Well, lets just say that I had a feeling you wouldn’t say no.” I told her, walking towards the front door. “I’ll see you at eight,” I said with a smile before disappearing out of her front door.

Everything was falling into place.

Notes

Hey guys! I'm finally back, sorry if this chapter isn't that great, I was having a hard time finishing it, I started it before my computer broke and I just couldn't quite seem to get the urge to keep this chapter the same. I didn't feel like rewriting it though, so hopefully you like it! Let me know in the comments what you think.

P.S. If any of you are interested, I started a new book a couple days ago. I linked it down below if you would like to check it out!

It's Just Business

EEEEEEEEEE! She said yes! Yay! I still want to slap this Brian into next week -_-

This is getting good! But man Brain is a jerk! I hope he soon realizes that he's the bad guy. I still can't see him and Matt being friends if he hates Robyn.
