On Tour

Merido's

Karma's hands were trembling slightly as she fumbled with the taxi's door. She threw a twenty dollar note at the driver, not even bothering to wait for the change. She breathed in deeply four times before entering Merido's, her and the girls' favorite steak house. There was one more thing she had to do before being officially unofficial with Matt.

The waiter brought her to the table and she felt her knees weaken at the sight. The twins were beautiful as ever. Michelle DiBenedetto, Brian's long term girlfriend, was wearing an amazing black cocktail dress.

Karma forced herself to look at Valary, Matt's ex. She looked absolutely stunning in her dark green blouse. Karma had to remind herself that they had been over for a while now, but she still planned to ask her for her ok.

Karma approached the table with a smile when she saw the last one in their round, Gena Paulhus. She was Zacky's ex. While Matt and Zacky were dating Val and Gena, the four girls had become friends. It was great for Karma when they visited the bus, not only because she enjoyed the occasional female company, but also because the guys did not get as crazy when they were around.

Well, Karma had become good friends with Michelle and Gena, and even better at avoiding Val. She was nice, definitely, but there had always been a little tension between them, maybe because of Matt.

When two of the relationships failed some years ago, they decided that it didn't have to mean the end for their girls clique, and to this day, they met up rather frequently. Karma hoped her new relationship with Matt wouldn't change that.

"Hey girls," she greeted them. Hugs were exchanged, and after some chit chat, Val suddenly motioned for all of them to look at her. Karma was surprised. She never liked to be the center of attention.

"Girls, I need to tell you something. Chelle knows already so shh!" She put the perfectly manicured finger next to her mouth as she looked at her twin. "I met someone. His name is Daniel and he's just... incredible! We've been together for almost two months now. It's been so long since we last saw each other so..." She threw them an apologizing look.

NO WAY? This is amazing, Karma thought, feeling euphoric. It would have hurt her if Val still had feelings. She would have been torn between the girls and Matt, and that definitely wasn't something she wanted.

After a while of speaking about Daniel, who sounded like a very nice gentleman indeed, Val excused herself to the bathroom. Karma jumped up immediately, hitting her knee on the table. "Ouch, fucking bitch," she cursed at the table before running after Val. This is my chance to get her alone!

"Val?" she asked as she opened the door to the ice cold bathroom. They tended to overuse the air conditioning in there.

"God, I hate Asado's for this freezing hell in here," she heard Val say from one of the stalls, as if she'd read Karma's mind. She chuckled quietly. As Val emerged, Karma took one last breath.
"Val, there's something I need to tell you." The blond woman turned to face her, looking generally interested.

"Okay?" She felt the blood rush to her cheeks. "Uh, it's about... Matt," she began, testing the waters to see how she would react to hearing his name. But her expression didn't change, not one bit.

"Karma, I'm really happy with Daniel. Whatever it is, tell me now. Quit beating around the bush, that's so unlike you."

"What uh... would you say if we were..." Val's lips curled into a smile. "In love?" she said, almost as if she had been expecting it. Karma tried hard to read her body language. Was she as calm as she pretended to be? "Uh, yeah," she said.

"Then I'd say congratulations for taming the wild man," Val said with a chuckle, "and for taking the courage to try, even though you're in the same band." Karma felt relieved. She was really okay with it?

Valary seemed to sense her doubts. "I'd tell you if I'd mind, really. But how about we rejoin the others now and stay after dinner, just the two of us? One drink." Karma nodded. "Uh, Val?" She said as they got out. "Yeah?"
"No one can know so far."
"My mouth is shut," she reassured her with a wink.

After their steaks were hungrily devoured, Gena and Michelle said their goodbyes. If they were suspicious about Karma and Val staying, they were good at hiding it.

"So," Val said with a smile as she held up her empty wine glass for a refill, "he finally worked up the courage to tell you." Karma's face fell. "What does that mean?"

"Sweetie," the other woman grinned, "didn't you know? He's liked you for a while now. He sure had a shitty way to tell you." She laughed. The groupies? "No, I didn't," Karma replied truthfully. "Well, let me tell you," the woman said, "when Matt broke up with me, things haven't been right for a longer time. It was both our faults. But he also told me he had feelings for you, and that was the last impulse needed to make that decision."

Karma swallowed. What. That's... that's been... years now?

"I was pretty distant, right, to you? Well that's the reason. I half expected you to get together immediately, and even though I knew there were more reasons for our break up than you, it was still... It's easy to blame someone else," She threw Karma an apologetic look.

"But I'm over it now, and honestly it makes me happy that he finally told you. I got so tired of hearing about those groupie stories. And, ugh, don't get me started on that cunt Sarah," she spat the name, and Karma had to chuckle.

"I mean, he had me!" She pointed towards her, "and then HER!" They burst out laughing.
"Anyway, thanks so much for asking me. And you'll get my okay ten times if you like. And now," she smiled, raising her glass, "to starting over."

Hours later, Karma needed two attempts to unlock the door to her apartment. She was feeling tipsy, but also happy. She had expected to find a nemesis, but gained a friend.

Notes

Hey guys, I know this is pretty short but to me it was important because it tells us all how long Matt has been wanting to get with Karma. I hope you liked it:)

Comments would be greatly appreciated :)

I'm so glad you sticked with me until the end, and it makes me even happier to hear you liked the ending even though it was not so happy (or in your case, Lady Revenge, the entire story. God you're a quick reader!!). But that's how I wanted to begin my sequel :)
Much love to you my friends :)

Another great story my friend! Oh I feel bad for Karma though at the same time she kinda brought it onto herself in a way at the end. Going to start reading the sequel now. :)
