On Tour

The Melody

Karma stood on the front deck, her eyes half-closed. Her face was warmed up by the sun, which was slowly but steadily moving towards the ocean. The sky was painted crimson. Karma and Matt spent the rest of the day bathing and enjoying the sun on the boat and using the kayak and stand up paddle Matt's mysterious friend had on his yacht.

Among... other things. She grinned as she thought about it. It was definitely the kind of date you could expect from Matt.

They were close to the coast, a mere ten-minute-ride. Matt said he didn't feel too comfortable about going back in the dark, and that after the sun set, it would become dark insanely fast.

In the background, some music was playing. Karma didn't know if it was a CD Matt made, or that was possibly left by his friend, or maybe it was just a good radio station with very little talk. "The song is ended, but the melody lingers on," a woman sang in a jazzy tune, and a piano played.

She smiled when she felt him approach her from behind, softly kissing her cheek as he placed his arms around her. The sun fell quickly, and the play of the colors in the sky and their mirror image on the calm sea left them breathless. Quietly he hummed along.

"Karma," he whispered suddenly. She felt all of her little hairs in the backside of her neck erect. She turned around, only to be met with two beautiful hazel eyes and a genuinely happy smile.

He cleared his throat before he spoke. "I know... it's soon after... everything. I can treat you right, believe me. I never made an effort, but now I really want to. Please, Karma. Be my girlfriend."

A wave of emotions rushed through her. It was like nothing she ever experienced before, maybe only comparable to when Jimmy and her smoked Hawaiian Woodrose seeds. Her whole body felt like it was exploding with pure joy.

Unable to say anything, she just nodded. Tears stung her eyes, and not even the thought of ruining her make-up could stop them. The next seconds passed in a bliss. His dimples as he smiled and her answer fully sunk in. His soft lips against hers, just for a second. Then his chest, against which her head bumped as he held her tight.

After a few seconds, she realized it. "Matt?"
"Huh?" he whispered against her neck.
"How are we gonna pull this off?"

During the entire way back, they forged out a plan, and a plan b. Occasionally, Matt brought the car to a halt just to kiss her. They just didn't know if and when and how they'd tell the guys, so they decided to wait. Karma was happy. It made her realize that she hadn't felt that happy in a while.

The days passed with ease. They pretended to get along all right when they were with the guys and then enjoyed some one on one time. Matt took her on two more dates before it was time to pack for Europe. One time, they went for dinner in a French restaurant.
None of them liked the food, but the atmosphere was great. Of course, it was only possible heavily disguised. Matt wore a fake beard and a large hat, and Karma used a wash-out hair dye in dark blue, as well as fake tattoo arms.

"I can't believe we're actually pulling this off," Matt said one night, "that you're honestly giving me a chance. Me, the rolling stone..." He smiled at her with his pearly white perfect teeth, and he looked so happy.

The other time, they'd made another picnic. In order not to be seen, they chose Matt's backyard as their venue.

Karma wasn't sure how to feel about Europe. She loved the European countries, no doubt. The rehearsals turned out great and were so much fun, since the chemistry was finally back. Matt had recovered from a minor cold, and she had worked hard with Ron. Karma couldn't wait for the concerts, but the thought of their secret relationship was intimidating. Six weeks together, and they were not supposed to notice? To her, it seemed crazy.

Even though she did not want to admit it, she was also scared because of all the girls. She knew she decided to trust Matt, but still, the thought made her uneasy.

It was the night before they left for Barcelona. Even though they were only meeting the guys in front of the airport, Karma and Matt had decided to spend the night separately. They could not risk coming together the next morning, or being seen in front of either ones house when the guys left. Sadly, both their houses were on the guys' fastest ways to LAX. Better safe than sorry, right?

Karma was sitting at her desk, a cup of her favorite hibiscus tea placed next to her. Before leaving tomorrow, there were a few things she needed to take care of, including the list of engagements her manager for her solo career, Trey, sent her.

Of course Karma said yes when she had the opportunity to make a solo album, but did not imagine it to be such a major success. A Common Thread sold a little more than City of Evil, although it wasn't something she put her heart and soul into.

Mainstream, uncomplicated pop music tunes mixed with her remarkable voice and the raspy singing technique had proven to be quite selling. Trey was a genius when it came to marketing. The success came without Karma doing much after the album was out. In the mean time, she was writing the new album with the guys.

After that: Photo shoots, commercials, collaborations with other artists, and offered parts in movies or series. Karma didn't really like that pop album, but she did enjoy the fame to a point. It was all she ever wanted, after all. And through that she hoped to get more people into Avenged Sevenfold, and maybe some engagements she actually liked.

She took a sip as she browsed through the list.
A concert tour with Selena Gomez as her supporting act? FUCK NO.
Alternative supporting act: Furore, a pop girl band. DON'T THINK SO.
Karma sighed, knowing that she would have to do a concert tour as Karma Strikes anyway. She erased the "DON'T THINK SO" and replaced it with "MAYBE"

Clearasil commercial - TREY YOU GOTTA BE FUCKING KIDDING ME
Ugh, she thought, this is not getting better. She needed some engagements at some point, even though she didn't like it at all. Half-heartedly she skimmed the rest of the document, when two names caught her attention. She stopped scrolling.

It was a movie part that might interest her. Like she told Trey, she was only interested in a main role and in a very short time of shooting. For that movie, only four weeks were planned. The director: None other than Tom "the Legend" Turner. The co-star: Aaron Paul.

Wait, she thought, THE Aaron Paul who just starred in Breaking Bad? Karma loved the first season, which was currently out.

"APPLY" she typed, knowing it was unlikely to get the role.

After that, she closed her laptop and sighed. There was something she still needed to do, something that might turn out highly uncomfortable. But she had to. She'd agreed on it with Matt the day before. Some things just needed to be done. She pulled out her phone and texted him.

TO: MATT <3

Heading out now. Wish me luck. You owe me for doing that...

I'm so glad you sticked with me until the end, and it makes me even happier to hear you liked the ending even though it was not so happy (or in your case, Lady Revenge, the entire story. God you're a quick reader!!). But that's how I wanted to begin my sequel :)
Much love to you my friends :)

Another great story my friend! Oh I feel bad for Karma though at the same time she kinda brought it onto herself in a way at the end. Going to start reading the sequel now. :)
