Chapter 2 - Flashback
Flashback
**Huntington Beach, 7 years ago**
"Mattie, what's wrong?" I asked my boyfriend of 5 years. We've always been best friends, along with Brian, Jimmy, Zack and Johnny. Me and Matt began 'dating' when we were 13 - as a dare. 5 years later, we're in love, spend every second together and we're even thinking about finding an apartment together.
"It's-" he stressed. "The band"
"Shit, are you guys all okay?" I worried. They all started a band 2 years ago, they all rehearsed in Jimmy's Uncles' garage and had tons of songs written, they even had the chance to record a few, they named themselves Avenged Sevenfold. Whenever I felt down, they would always play me my favorite rock songs, let me fiddle around with their instruments and even let me sing some of their songs.
"Yeah, we're- amazing, actually, that's why we need to talk" he declared. He had a tissue in his hand which he kept using to wipe his nose, he continuously sniffled and hid his face away from me, as though he'd been crying all day - and was about to cry again. "Listen, Sophia. I really love you and I really don't want to hurt you, but - we've been given this, amazing, really amazing opportunity to move to New York, we're getting signed, it's huge"
"Really?" I gleamed. "Well, when can we leave?" I literally screamed with excitement, Matt spoke as if I wouldn't want to leave Huntington, but it's all I'd want.
"That's the thing" he cleared his throat and dropped his face into his hands. "The band"
"What do you mean?" I frowned, my heart suddenly flushed, making my body hot and shaky.
"Matt, you all ready buddy?" His dad burst through the door with cases.
"Dad, 5 minutes" Matt cleared his father out of the room and dug out a box in his pocket. He knelt in front of me as I was sitting stiffly on the edge of the bed. "Sophia, we wanted you to come, your mom, wouldn't even let me finish my sentence. But, even if your mom let you, you couldn't have. With what we've been offered, it's strictly for us 5. We've been offered a place to live, a career, I can't turn that down - we can't turn it down"
"Why are you leaving?" tears began falling down my flushed cheeks as I started to realize what would be leaving me.
"I know this is unfair, and, disgusting of me, and the guys" he wiped his sobbing eyes and opened the box he had. "We need to take this chance and I know eventually you'll understand, you'll be proud of us. You can come see us when we're settled in-"
"I don't have the fucking money to fly to New York to see my best friends and boyfriend who abandoned me out of fucking nowhere" I screamed.
"Just please, have this necklace - I was saving it for your birthday, but - I'm sorry, I love you Sophia and I always will"
"Matt you need to think about this, you can't just leav-"
"I'm sorry," he sobbed even more, kissing my head. "I'll write to you, everyday, I promise, I'll come back as soon as I can to see you - we will be okay"
"Mattie don't go, please, don't go" we both weeped and sobbed gripping on to eachothers hands.
"I'm sorry" he rushed out of his bedroom and slammed the door. And that was it.
I fell back onto Matt's bed, crying my heart out onto his sheets. His mother ran up to me, also crying but with softer tears. She laid next to me, comforting me and rocking me.

That was the last time I saw him.

I know nothing I'm saying about the bands history is real, but it's real to the story ;-)
