Nobody Said It Was Easy

Chapter One

Third Person

Synyster Gates is Avenged Sevenfold's lead guitarist, he's a party animal who drinks like there's no tomorrow and tours the world with his best friends and band mates. However, Brian Haner Jr is a married man who spends all of his free time with his family, trying to have a baby with his beautiful wife, Michelle, so that they can finally fill their beachfront house with the pitter-patter of tiny little feet.

Unfortunately, as every adult knows, life never goes according to plan. After being married for four years and trying unsuccessfully to conceive for two years, Brian and Michelle discovered that they were highly unlikely to ever have a baby of their own naturally. At the time they found out, Brian was on tour and deep into Synyster Gates mode so he could drink and party instead of dealing with his emotions, but Michelle was left at home, mostly alone, to deal with the heartbreak of infertility.

Tonight, however, was a night for all of the bands family and friends to come together and celebrate the end of another album tour and the boys were finally coming home.

"
Come on!" Hannah yelled through the apartment to her best friend, Erin. "We're going to be late!"

Hannah is Brian's younger sister by a whole ten years, but they act more like twins than anything else. Brian had doted on Hannah since the day that she was born, his father and step-mother alwas claiming that the two of them were soulmates, made just for each other.

"I'm coming, I'm coming!" Erin laughed as she hurried to the front door where Hannah was waiting with everything they needed to take with them to the party.

"My mom and Michelle will kick my ass if we miss the start of the party." Hannah reminded her.

"Oh, please." Erin laughed. "Your mom just wants you around when she's bragging about how well you're doing in school." Erin teased, pinching Hannah's cheek before taking her things and hurrying out of the door when Hannah playfully smacked her ass.

The girls made their way down to the parking lot and into Hannah's car, tearing out of there quickly with the City of Evil album blaring from the stereo. Everybody in the family lived close to each other, so it only took ten minutes for the girls to arrive at Brian Haner Sr and Suzy's house, an the driveway was already full of cars and Hannah groaned.

"We are so late," she complained to Erin as they both got out of the car.

Hannah grabbed the homemade cake and tray of brownies from the back seat of the car and hurried inside with Erin right behind her carrying the extra crate of beer they had been asked to bring with them. The guys had already arrived and the party was in full swing despite only having just started, but that's the way it usually went with Avenged parties.

"Hannah Haner," Brian Senior laughed as he approached his second youngest child in the foyer of the house.

"Daddy, I'm sorry, I know we're late but-" she was cut off from her whining before it could turn into full on rambling by her father shushing her and turning her towards the kitchen.

"Your mother is waiting for you, I've kept her under control but you have about thirty seconds before she gets her shoes and car keys and comes looking for you."

Hannah groaned and hurried into the kitchen, already apologizing to her mother before she even saw her. Erin was taken out back by Papa Gates and over to the drinks table. Everybody outside had a good buzz going already and most people were swimming around in the pool. Just a milisecond after Erin set down the beer, she was lifted off of the ground from behind by a pair of strong, tattooed arms and she let out a shriek of surprise and laughed loudly.

"Zachary James Baker, you put me down right now and pour me a damn drink!" She ordered between hysterical laughter.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa!" Zack laughed, putting her down and turning her around to look at him. "What're you full-naming me for?" he asked innocently.

"You didn't FaceTime me as much as you promised me you would!" Erin accused, faking anger and hurt. "How could you forget about me?"

Zack dramatically dropped to his knees with a sorrowful cry, drawing some attention and a few laughs as he hugged her legs. "I could never forget about my best girl, I swear. I'm so sorry!"

Erin was giggling uncontrollably, pulling Zack up to his feet. "Okay, alright, cut it out!" She managed to say as she calmed down. "Seriously, though, I missed you more than usual this time." She admitted with a bashful smile.

Zack chuckled and ran a hand through his hair smoothly. "That's because you're so busy with college these days - you don't want to slack off and come stay on the us with me anymore."

Erin groaned in embarrassment and shoved him away playfully. "You're such a dork. College is much more important than high school was, I was more than happy to skip weeks worth of classes to come on tour with you back then." She reminded him.

The flirting between Zack and Erin had been going on for as long as anybody could remember. Erin always had a thing for Zack, once laiming that she was going to marry him someday when she was just six years old and followed him around like a little puppy dog. Zack, of course, was mortified at sixteen when a six year old told everybody in town that she would marry him - the guys didn't let him live it down for months. That was all sweet and innocent back then, but as soon as Erin hit puberty, developed breasts and learned what flirting actually was, she did it every chance she got, and Zack couldn't stop himself from flirting right back with her.

"Now, where did we land on that drink?"

Zack got right to work and poured Erin her usual drink like a damn pro and handed her the plastic cup. Erin took a slow sip from her cup and never once broke eye contact with Zack. To the two of them they were just being harmless and friendly, but to Zack's girlfriend, Meaghan, who was watching from the poolside Erin was a threat for holding Zack's attention so effortlessly. She couldn't let this continue and so she was going to have to lock Zack down quickly.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Honestly, Matt wasn't really in the mood to party, but it was tradition and there was no way he could get out of it. It wasn't like him not to enjoy the welcome home party, but right now his life was kind of falling apart riht now. Right before leavng for tour, he found out that his wife, his high school sweetheart,Van, had been cheating on him for ten months with some L.A asshole. He didn't have time to make any arrangements before leaving, so it was up to Val to move her stuff out of the house and contact their lawyer about a divorce. Coming home from tour to an empty house was much more depressing than he had been expecting, but he was relieved to find that his four year old son's bedroom was still intact. He couldn't deal with Val trying to stop him from seeing his baby.
If he sat and though about it for long enough, he realised that his marriage had been falling apart for at least two years, maybe longer, but he couldn't figure out why. Maybe they were just so different now compared to who they were back when they were younger and they just didn't click anymore.
Matt hadn't so much as looked at another woman since he was still a teenager, having married Val right out of school, but right now a slim waist, dimpled back and perfectly rounded ass had caught his attention and he couldn't look away - he wasn't even aware that Jimmy was still talking to him. It took him almost ten minutes to realise that he was checkng out Hannah - one of his friends who just happened to be Brian's baby sister. He loved Hannah, of course he did, but she had always been like his own sister. He kissed her scraped knees when she was a kid, he made her laugh when she was sad and he scared the crap out of any little fuckboy who tried to mess with her. What was haphappening right now? Why was he suddenly seeing her as a woman?
"Matt, are you going to come over here and hug me, or are you going to keep staring into space?!" Hannah called out, snapping him out of his daze. He laughed to himself, took a swig of his beer before walking right into the kitchen and up to Hannah, pulling her against his chest in a tight embrace.
Hannah had missed Matt as much as she had missed Brian, and she hated that she wasn't there for him with everything going on with Val. When he hugged her, she wrapped her arms around his muscular body and took a deeo breath, inhaling his familiar scent and relaxed against him.
"How're you doing?" She asked sensitively, her words muffled into his chest. God, he was such a big guy.
"Honestly?" He asked, finally pulling back from the hug. "I've been better, but I'm glad to be home so that I can finally deal with everything."
It broke Hannah's heart to see Matt to emotionally vulnerable when he was always so strong and happy all of the time.
"I'm so sorry about everything." She sighed sadly. "You know that I'm always here when you need someone to talk to.
Matt nodded and took another drink. "I know," he nodded "although i think Brian might need you to lend him your ear more than I do."
Hannah let out a soft laugh and nodded in agreement. "I think you're right," she sighed. "Michelle has been a wreck and he's never been good at handling her emotions."
That was more than true, and the struggling couple needed to stay strong and support each other while thinking about their best option t start their family. Every member of the Avenged family would support them no matter what they decided to do, but Hannah would do anything for her brother an her sister-in-law.
I've been so hectic! With a toddler now running around it's hard to find time to do anything that isn't Mama duty, and we also had to move a couple of weeks ago, but I'm alright!
