The One Who Was Taught To Survive

The next morning, I woke up in Matt’s bed, sore. We had repeated our actions from last night a few more times, and it was magical. It was only then that I realized that I was alone, I immediately sat up, confused wondering if I’d dreamed it. I checked under the covers and sure enough I was naked, so where was my knight in shining armor?

I quickly grabbed a pair of Matt’s gym shorts and a Pantera shirt before slipping out of his bedroom. “So, you’re in love with this girl Matthew?” I heard a deep disappointed voice say from the kitchen.

“Dad, I really do. She’s special, more special than anyone else I’ve ever met,” Matt replied without hesitation.

“I’d like to meet her, properly. When she’s not coming out of your bed at 12 in the afternoon. Invite her to dinner tomorrow and we will see how it goes.”

“What do you mean, we’ll see how it goes? She’s amazing, no one can change my mind,” Matt said exasperated.

“Matthew, I just caught you with your pants down in bed with some girl. You’re lucky I’m not telling your mother about this. It’d break her heart to find you like that. Just accept the information.”

Matt growled and started walking towards his bedroom, I ducked back in and sat on the bed. He opened the door and found me staring at my hands. “So, your parents are back?”

Matt sighed and shut the door quietly nodding, “Yeah, they got back early this morning. Dad sent mom out for an errand and walked in to find me getting dressed. He saw you laying naked, your back to him.”

I felt a blush form on my cheeks, “So he thinks I’m a whore who ended up in your bed?”

“River, you’re not a whore. I never want you to call yourself that again. He doesn’t know you, he doesn’t understand yet. He will after we show him how special this is at dinner.”

“Okay, I’ll come for dinner,” I said and he smiled flashing his dimples at me and kissed my forehead.

“Good, cuz I want them to love you just as much as I do,” he looked deeply into my eyes.

“Did he say it was noon?” I asked softly blushing.

“Oh…uh, yeah, he did,” Matt said his tone changing to one of uncertainty.

“Fuck, Bobbi is gonna kill me,” I stood up and grabbed my shoes.

“Let me walk you home,” Matt stood up with me.

“Yeah, that’d be nice,” I smiled and wrapped my arms around his waist. “by the way, I love you too.”

He grinned real big and placed a kiss on my lips, “Let’s get you to Bobbi’s bar.”

An hour later we were at the bar; however, there was a note saying the bar was closed due to a family emergency. I immediately checked my phone, fuck. “I have 20 missed calls and 30 missed texts. All from Jimmy and Bobbi. I figured Jimmy was asleep in the basement still.”

Matt checked his and swore, “it says to get you to Bobbi’s now, and that was 40 minutes ago.”

“I’m so dead,” I groaned and we took off to Bobbi’s house. As we approached, I noticed a silver Mercedes in the drive way with New York plates. “Oh my fucking god.”

“What is it?” Matt asked, placing his arm around me, pulling me close feeling me go still as a statue.

“My parents.”
