My Brothers Bestfriend

Ot was December 18th, school was closed because there was snow on the ground. I honestly loved the holidays. My brother who's away at college gets to come home. My brother and I have always been close. He's my best friend. Basically everything a big brother should be. Weve always been the 'black sheep' of the family tho. We've always been into the 'weird' stuff. Weird hair. Weird music, as my family calls it. But the more we grew up the more we stopped caring.
I looked at my alarm clock, 8:30am. Hmm. It was too early to stay away but also too early to go to bed.
Suddenly the smell of fresh coffee hit my nose and that was enough to get me out of bed,
i walked in the kitchen, "goodmorning Riley" my dad said turning around to smile at me.
"Morning dad" I pulled a seat from underneath the table and sat down.
"why're you up so early? You're usually never up." He poured his coffee in his cup and was starting too add surgar
"Can't sleep" I said looking at my hands.
"I've been waiting on Jim to call and tell me what days he's coming home this year. I'm sure he'll make a grand entrance" my dad and I chuckled. He was right. My brother always had to but on a good show. He was the one person that could cheer anyone up.
Suddenly my dad got a call, "speak of the devil" he chuckles and answered his phone and sat down infront of me, "hey Jimbo how ya doin?"
I got up from the table and started making myself some coffee.
"oh yea man that's fine I'll just have to let your mom know and Riley and I will have to clean out the guest room" I sat down with my coffee and gave him a weird look. He held up his pointer finger which meant to give him a minute.
"alright buddy. Yea. I will. See ya soon." He hung up the phone and looked at me
"he's bringing a friend home for the holidays." I shook my head, I didn't really care about it.
"so when's he coming home?" I asked with a smile
"thaaaat I can't tell you" he said with a smile
"WHAT?! Dad tell me!!" I said in a whiny voice.
"nope. I can't. He specifically told me not too"
i rolled my eyes and let out a long sigh.
"Fineeee"
