Another bottle of Jack
Chapter 5 Brownies
After talking to Brian and his friends for a while on the beach I headed over to my mother's house. I just couldn't muster up the courage to go back to my apartment which is why I had rented the hotel room.
I unlocked the front door and went in kicking off my shoes in the process. The smell of brownies drifted in from the kitchen.
"Mom?"
Her head popped around the corner, "Scareltt? How is my baby doing! It's been so long!"
"Sorry it's been so long." I really should see my mom more than once every couple of months. I thought to myself.
"I missed you!" She came up and hugged me. "Oh sweetheart you smell like alcohol." She stepped back and crinkled her nose. "What happened?"
"It's a long story. I came over to take a shower if that's ok."
"Of course! You know I still have some of your clothes in your old closet."
"Thanks mom you're the best." I gave her a kiss on the cheek and headed to the bathroom.
I grabbed a quick shower and then found an old Gun's N' Roses shirt and jeans in my closet. I walked into the kitchen to find my mom mixing something in a bowl.
"Hey honey. Would you like a brownie?" My mom said offering me a plate.
I picked up a square, "These aren't your special brownies are they? I don't feel like getting high right now."
She laughed, "Actually Sharon just came by and got the last batch of those."
I couldn't help but smile at her, "I don't know how I feel about my mom being a low key drug dealer."
She shook her head and laughed again, "It's for our glaucoma."
"Sure mom." I finished my brownie and grabbed another.
"So where is Dean at? I haven't seen him in ages."
I choked on my brownie, "W-we broke up."
"Aww honey, What happened?"
"It just happened so I don't really want to talk about it."
She walked around the island and gave me a hug. "Well when you do want to talk about it I'm here for you." She went back to mixing, "So are you staying for dinner tonight?"
"Actually I'm going out for drinks with a friend." I took another bite of brownie, "Do you mind if I crash here tonight?"
"That's no problem dear. Just be home by 11." She grinned at me.
I rolled my eyes, "Mom. I'm not a kid anymore."
"I know honey." She kissed me on the forehead. "You know you can spend the night here any time."
I could feel tears starting to well up in my eyes. My mom really was the best.
Notes
Sorry it took so long to get this chapter up and Sorry it's so short, life gets a little crazy sometimes.
@FlawlessFlaws
I'm glad you are liking how this is going. I'm trying to find a somewhat softer and cuter side to Brian than how he is normally protrayed.
