Chapter 3 Drinks on the Beach

After leaving Brian and Jimmy's room, I managed to successfully make it to my room this time, which was only three doors down. I threw myself down onto the bed and flipped my phone open. Brian didn't lie to me my asshole of an ex-boyfriend had called me twenty times and also left me a few dozen text messages. I looked through a few of them.

Baby please come home! I miss you so much.

Babe answer your phone!

Sweetheart? Are you okay?

He just kept rambling on. I was in the middle of deleting the messages when a new one came through. It was from her.

Stay away from Dean, you are ruining our marriage.

Just that one sentence shook me to the core. How could I be so naive? I really just wanted to sleep the pain away, but my body was restless. I could feel another bottle of jack calling my name so I grabbed my purse and made sure I had my key card and phone and left the hotel. I drove to the nearest liquor store and purchased two bottles of jack just for good measure. I found my way to the nearest beach and sat down close to the water. I took off my shoes and tipped my toes in the cool water. I had just opened up my bottle when someone yelled behind me.

“Hey chick with the red hair watch out!” but it was too late because right as I turned around a large sweaty body knocked me over.

“Oh for fucks sake you made me spill my drink!” I screamed at the guy.

“Don't yell at me about it! Maybe you shouldn't be drinking at noon!”

I was wringing out my shirt when I finally looked him in the eyes. "Oh, it's you!"

“Scarlett? It's funny meeting you twice in one day."

“Yeah, well, I could say the same."

"Why are you out here with what looks like two bottles of jack?

"Why are you looking like that at me? Do you not come to the beach to drink your sorrows away with two bottles of the best shit ever made?"

"Not in broad daylight." He chuckled.

I smiled at him and then noticed that some other guys had come up behind him.

"Are you going to introduce us to this beautiful lady or what Syn?" A man with aviators said.

He groaned, "Matt, Johnny, Zacky, this is Scarlett. Scarlett these are my friends."

"This is the girl that crashed in your room?" Matt asked.

"Yes." Brian said through gritted teeth.

Matt laughed and I was genuinely confused, "This guy could not shut up about you at breakfast. 'Matt her eyes are the most beautiful eyes I have ever seen.' Fucking poet right there." He mocked.

I couldn't help but blush and Brian punched Matt on the arm, "I didn't say that!"

"Don't let him lie to you Scarlett, he's a romantic!"

"Fuck you Shads!" He said, flipping his friend off.

"Come on guys lets leave the love birds alone." Matt said, ushering the other guys away.

"You can't pay Matt any attention he likes to fuck with people."

I smiled again, "Well make it up to me and have a drink. Unless you have something against drinking at noon."

"Shut up and give me that bottle." He laughed and pulled the liquor from my hands and drank like half the bottle.

"Like I said it's the best shit ever made." I said as he sat next to me on the sand.

I had another drink and laughed when Brian took to big of a drink and choked.

"Scarlett?" I heard a familiar voice say behind me.

I turned around to see the man I have loved so deeply the past three years. My first instinct was to grab him and kiss him, but my disgust from what I had found out the previous day overrode that feeling. Instead, I got up and looked him dead in the eye.

"What do you want Dean?" I snarled.

"I've been looking all over for you. I should have came here first, it is your favorite spot after all." He gave me a small smile.

I narrowed my eyes and stepped closer to him, letting all of my anger flow into my voice, "I don't ever want to see you again."

"Don't be so irrational sweetheart. All of this is one big misunderstanding."

I stepped closer to him, "I'm not your sweetheart. Not anymore." I could feel someone standing next to me, I looked over to see Brian with a look of contempt on his face.

Dean raised his hands up in what I assumed was a sign of defeat, "Look, I'm really sorry you had to find out that way. Let me take you out for lunch and we can talk this over. I just want a second chance."

I stepped even closer to him getting in his face, "A second chance at what? To fuck up my life even more? You lied to me for three years Dean. Three fucking years."

He placed his hands on my shoulders, "It was a little white lie. You're making this a bigger problem than it is."

"A little white lie?" My voice cracked hinting I was on the verge of tears. I shrugged his hands off my shoulders, "This is the biggest lie I've ever been told. And if you think it wasn't you're just lying to yourself."

"Scarlett, I love you. I know you love me so let's just work this out."

"I loved you, LOVED. Just leave me alone." I said turning away. I looked at Brian. "Can we get out of here?"

A look of sympathy crossed his face as he gave me a nod, "Yeah. Where do you want to go?"

I was going to answer him when Dean grabbed my arm, "So you've moved on already?"

I didn't look back at him. "No I haven't moved on already, I'm not a scum bag like you." My hand curled into a fist.

He laughed, "Whatever, just so you know dude she only dates married men."

I couldn't control my self any more. "Fuck you." I yelled as I whipped around and punched him in the face. Then took off down the beach with Brian hot on my heels.
