Framed
Danger
The weekend couldn't go by any slower, it was only mid-day Saturday.
Matt had already called his lawyer, who took the case and he would see Remi. Other than that, he had no clue what to do. Going to the studio was useless, none of them could focus. All he could think about was Remi all alone in a cell, scared and confused. The poor girl had already been through enough and now this.
"Dude I still don't know how this is possible. Remira was with us ALL day, like ALL ALL day, she didn't go anywhere without us."
Brian re-iterated for the umpteenth time.
"I don't think any of us do Syn, but they framed Rem."
"No really?!"
Jimmy fiend shock.
"Shut up! I don't hear you coming up with anything!"
Johnny snapped back, the temper high with all the guys.
"I'm just thinking about Remira, that tiny little thing in jail. Were you able to see her when you went by today Shadz?"
"No they wouldn't let me."
He mumbled
***
It finally rolled around to dinner time at the jail, the flap was opened to Remira's cell door, a tray being held out for her to take. As she grabbed it an all familiar voice caused her to stop in her tracks
"Remira?"
She peeked through the window. Her dad was looking back one hand holding her tray, the other on the cart of food filled trays.
"...Hey Dad."
"What in the world are you doing here?"
Its a funny thing alcohol, when her Dad wasn't drinking he could be a very loving man.
"They think I killed someone."
"Did you?"
"No! I was with Matt and the guys all day, I was framed.”
She watched as her Dad visibly paled.
"I'm so sorry Remira."
"Sorry? About what?"
"This is all my fault."
With that the flap was closed and he walked away.
"What's your fault?! Dad!!"
Taking her plate with shaken hands, she sat it on the floor, suddenly not hungry. She had the feeling that this was way out of any of their control anymore.
A few minutes later her cell door opened, two guards stood waiting with shackles.
"Your lawyer is here Sanders, he wants to speak with you."
She walked to the door of the cell where her hands were cuffed in front of her, along with her ankles. She was ushered through the hall, the chains clinking, the sound almost made her sick to her stomach. Finally they came to a room with nothing but a table and a few chairs, and her lawyer Stephen Preston sat waiting.
She was pushed down in the chair, her ankle cuffs secured to the floor.
"Is this all necessary?"
He asked, motioning towards Remi's restraints.
"Yes sir, we'll be outside if you need anything."
Stephen huffed in exasperation, taking the seat across from Remi.
"I'm sorry we had to meet under these circumstances Remira. Do you understand what is going on? What is going to happen?"
She shook her head
"Not really, I haven't been told much."
"They are trying to charge you with Manslaughter, but with your current alibi hopefully the judge is smart enough to understand that you committing the crime was near impossible.”
“So you’ve talked to my brother?"
"Yes."
“And he told you I was with them all day?"
"Yes, they even sent me pictures from that day. That's what we have for your alibi."
"What evidence do they have?"
"Your finger prints on the knife that killed Jack Riding."
Remi took a deep breath, trying to calm the panic rising. She didn't understand how all of this was happening to her.
Stephen went ahead to tell her what would happen Monday at the hearing, and how her alibi would most likely allow her to be released.
Being taken back to her cell she saw her Dad again, peering out from his cell, concern in his eyes...for once.
He mouthed the words
"You're. In. Danger."
Her stomach sank. What kind of mess has her father gotten into...and how did he manage to drag her into it?
