You Will Always Be My Heart

Johnny's POV:

The guys and I ended spending two and half weeks at Matt's house. I got to hear some stories about Jimmy I've never heard before. Brian and Jimmy were crazy growing up.

We also came up with some new ideas for songs. All of us agreed we were tired of seeing each other's faces so we choose to take a few days for ourselves.

I'm sitting on my couch strumming away on my base when I hear the doorbell. Setting the base down I make my way to the door. I open the it.

On the front porch is Barbara. She's holding a box in her arms. Stepping aside I let her in closing the door behind her.

Barbara puts the box on the table. Once she's on the couch she pats the spot next to her. I take the seat.

"Jimmy would want you to have these things." She says.

I nod my head. Barbara grabs my hands in hers. She looks me right in the eyes.

Her eyes are welled up. Tears spill over crashing down her face. She doesn't let go of my hands.

"I'm sorry you never got your day." Barbara murmurs.

My own tears flow. Rising my hand I wipe them away. The hand she's holding starts shaking. How does she know about that?

Barbara smiles at me. It's what could only be considered a motherly loving smile. I give her one of my own knowing I'm lucky to consider her family.

We chat for a little while. I offer her to stay for dinner but she declines. She does however tell me she'll see me soon at her house for dinner.

With one last hug she's on her way home. Pulling the box down I set it in front of me then plop on the floor. I take a deep shaky breath.

Reaching forward I pull the flap open. Right on top is a small black box. I have an idea of what it contains. Opening the box I find out I'm right.
