Big Not So Bad Wolf

Matt's POV:

The doorbell rings. I open the door.

"Zachary Baker?" A uppity looking man asks.

"I am his second." I answer.

The man doesn't look pleased. He holds a letter out. I know right away it's from them. I sign for it seeing as I'm the only one home. The man taps his foot impatiently.

"Make sure that gets to Zachary Baker immediately." He orders.

I give him the one finger salute with both hands. Then I slam the door in his face. He can take that back to them.

None of them are my alpha. I don't have to listen to anything they say. I most certainly don't have to be polite to their asshole representative either. They can all go fuck themselves for all I care.

Zacky didn't need them or their bullshit right now. Part of me wanted to just burn the damn letter. I can guess what it says; more crap about how to claim their offer he must do as they've commanded. 

As much as I don't want to I take the letter up to Zacky's room. Opening the door I place it on his desk. It's not my place to make this choice for him.

After dealing with this shit I need a break. I grab my iPod and head for the gym. I hop on to the treadmill. I set it for a five mile run.

I smile as the music finally starts. Ashes by Black Tide featuring Matt Tuck blasts into my ears. There's nothing better than listening to someone screaming and telling along with them when you're pissed off.

My run is finished. I've barely broken a sweat. A hand taps my shoulder. My arms shoots out gripping the person's throat.

Turning my head I see Zacky standing there. I release his throat right away. The headphones are pulled from my ears.

"Sorry." I apologize. He shrugs.

"I need you to go on the run tonight with Johnny and Brian." He tells me.

I nod knowing better than to question my alpha's orders. He turns to leave. I clap my hands on his shoulder.

"Please just be careful. I'm only a thought away if you need me." I say telling him what already knows.

It's the best I can do. I know losing Jimmy has taken its toll on Zacky. None of us blame Zacky except for Zacky.

He's determined to hunt down every last vampire. There's no way he's going to rest until the leech that killed Jimmy is found.

Brian and Johnny were wrestling on the ground. Try as hard as he might Johnny still couldn't pin Brian. A familiar scent fills my nose. I know it's Zacky's.

I decide to go investigate. The trail takes me to more woods.

I walk through to the other side where I find a house. Zacky's scent stops at the edge of the woods. The scent is fresh telling me he's come here recently.

I hear noise from the house. I'm curious who lives here and why Zacky has been here. There's no way I'm getting caught so I head back to the guys.

My paws take me back to Brian and Johnny. They're still going at it. They hadn't even noticed that I had gone somewhere. I wasn't about to tell them what I'd discovered.

Who lived in that house? Why was Zacky there? Does someone know we're werewolves? Is this just more shit from them?

I shut my thoughts down so Zacky doesn't hear. I had many questions to ask my alpha but they could wait until later. The only problem is I didn't know if he'd actually give me answers.
