Big Not So Bad Wolf

Zacky's POV:

I excepted that I was going the be the next High Alpha. What I hadn't realized is how stressful it was going to be. In order for me to claim the title I need to train.

The rules of the council state the High Alpha in training must be dutiful in their studies of werewolf laws and traditions. As H.A. you can be called on to do anything from settle land disputes, bless new born pups and even arrange marriages. Along with studying I must also be in top psychical and mental condition in case of anything happening.

Theorion took it upon himself to tutor me in the law aspect. For my psychical a werewolf by the name of Declan was called. I've never met a more dedicated wolf.

Rumor has is Declan bit the entire head off of a vampire and ate it. Add to that he's the biggest wolf in the history of wolves, I know I checked myself, the man put the scar in scary. Hell I'm sure the Grim Reaper would shit himself if Declan's name appeared on his list.

Declan is a truly fierce man. No he's not a man. He is a warrior, that's the only word the could ever describe him accurately.

There wasn't a type of fighting style that he doesn't know. He didn't just rely on his wolf. He's been teaching me to be prepared in both forms.

Declan is also really patient with me. At times there are certain moves I just can't replicate. He takes the time to help me calm down when I get too agitated.

If there's one thing I'm most thankful for it's the mental aspect of his training. It's that has really aided me the most. I've learned how to better listen to my surroundings.

He's even helped me deal with the loss of Jimmy. One night Declan explained to me that he knows what I'm feeling.

Of course I didn't believe that for a New York minute. He sat me down and told me his tale. I was shocked to learn his mate and pups had been slaughtered by a coven of vampires.

I learned that he got his revenge but it still didn't ease the loss and loneliness he felt. Nor did their deaths aid with the regret and rage he held at himself for not being there when they needed him the most. Declan could honestly relate if not more so because of what he's been through.

Splitting my time between training and my pack was proving difficult. Declan was there to help me once again. He showed me a technique that allowed me to astral project.

This allowed me to be in two places at once. When I finally mastered it and I was able to project and remained conscious. Declan said there are very few creatures in any world that can do that.

Allie had been amazing. Not once did she complain. It pissed me off that she wasn't allowed to be by my side during all of this.

The council insisted she'd only be a distraction. Even when the door was closed right in her face Allie was still great and said that she would give me the time I needed. The guys however weren't so happy.

I knew they feared the council would end up making me a mindless puppet for them to control. They thought they had control of me but they would see when the time came for me to choose my council.

In the beginning they even went as far as to try and put demands on my life like how often I shifted, what I ate and they tried their damnedest to change the clothes I wore with this I allotted them the chance but the second they tried to put me in one of your old fashioned white shirts with the puffy sleeves and the rifles on the front I was done. I put my foot when they said I would have to move in to their home. There was a better fucking chance of snow in hell.

Finally after what felt like decades my training was complete. Before I left to return home I told Declan not to go too far. Theorion called me to his office.

"I'm truly proud of you Zacky. If I could have had pups I would have wanted my son to turn out like you. I can't wait to celebrate your coronation."

We embrace and he sends me on my way home.
