Big Not So Bad Wolf

Zacky's POV:

I stare at Matt in shock. This was even more crazy than being told I was going to be the next high alpha. I didn't believe there were such things any more. There had once been a time when believed I had found my soulmate.

Flash Back

Gena and I were so excited to be celebrating with everyone. They had come out just for us. Gathered here to witness the two of us exchange vows.

I didn't have a care in the world. Gena accepted that I am a werewolf. Jimmy's hand claps my shoulder. He was goofy as hell but he was the perfect best man.

We'd been husband and wife for almost six months. I noticed Gena start pulling away. Shrugging it off I figured she just needed time to adjust to married life.

I had gotten back from my errand early. Walking inside with the grocery bags I seek out Gena. I notice the smell immediately.

It's the scent of cloyingly sweet. There's also something else. It's a hint of strawberries.

"What's that smell?" I question already knowing the answer.

"What smell?" Gena asks.

"It smells really sweet with a hint of strawberries." I tell her.

"I don't smell anything. Besides you know I'm allergic to strawberries." She coming over to kiss me.

Maybe it was all in my head. Shaking my head i turn to put away the groceries. Trusting Gena's word I ignore every instinct telling me something was wrong.

Matt, Brian and Johnny wave as they drive off. Jimmy and I are left to man the fort. Johnny needs a little extra boost. Matt is powerful and strong. Brian is cunning and quick. They're the perfect pair to help Johnny.

I knew they were worried about the trouble we've been having with vampires. Jimmy and I assured them we would be fine. That if anything came we'd let them know.

Just to be sure I decided to double check our territory. I had already cleared the north ends of our house. Making my way back around I spot Jimmy.

"Hey Jimmy I need you to check the southwest corner of our territory." I tell him.

"Roger captain my captain." Jimmy says saluting me.

I chuckle. Shifting he takes off. I shift on the way my to the southeast.

It's all clear. A horrible wail pierces the air. My stomach drops. That's a sound born strictly out of pain.

The wail is coming from the same direction as Jimmy. I'm racing there as far as my paws will take me. Praying that I'm wrong and Jimmy is totally fine.

The smell of blood is on the air. I stop short at the sight of a body laying still on the ground blood surrounding it. Oh god no it can't be!

I'd know that grey fur anywhere. I take slow steps closer praying that Jimmy's just playing a horrible joke on me. I drop down beside Jimmy's body.

He isn't breathing. There's no thump thump thump from his chest. Jimmy is dead.

My throat goes raw with a grueling howl of loss. I have to touch him. My paws transform back in to hands. Jimmy's lifeless body is scooped up into my arms. My blurry eyes don't leave him.

There was a scent over Jimmy's fur. One I had smelled before. It was vampire with a hint of strawberries.

I remembered smelling that exact combination on Gena's clothes not even a week before.

When I went to search for Gena I found her dead with her throat ripped out. Only confirming that she'd be involved with the vampire that killed Jimmy. As far as I was concerned it was good riddance.

Unknown POV:

A smile stretches across my lips.

"Finally!" I yell unable to curb my excitement.

After what felt like forever it was happening. The joy I felt was almost overwhelming. It was about time.

Zacky was only the beginning. The others were going to find their other halves too. I didn't care if I had to take of it myself.

Actually that sounds like a really good idea. Looks like I finally found something useful to do with my time.
