Zacky's POV:

The four of were all uncomfortable in our suits and ties. I'm sure every single person here is wishing they were somewhere else. There was no such luck.

Tonight had deemed mandatory. The council wouldn't take no for answer. That's how all of us found ourselves here tonight.

Kole clears his throat bringing everyone's attention to him.

"Thank you all for coming tonight. You know that Theorion will be stepping down from high alpha. We..." He stops as a woman walks over to him.

She whispers in his ear. Kole nods his head. Turning to look he waits.

Theorion walks over to him. Kole steps back allowing him the floor. He greets us all.

"You're here tonight to inform you that a decision has been made." He pauses for effect.

"Your new high alpha will be Zachary Baker of the Avenged Sevenfold pack."

The crowd erupts into applause. Wait what? The guys turn to me. I'm as shocked as they are.

Theorion motions for me to come forward. My feet move on their own accord. He presents me to the room. Once he's sure they've seen enough of me he motions the guys and I to follow him.

We enter his study. He tells us to sit. While he takes a seat behind hour desk.

"I'm sure this comes as a bit of a shock Zachary." That's a bit of an understatement.

"Please call me Zacky." I say.

"Your moral character is noble. The way you've handled the lose of your brother James is nothing short of exemplary." His voice is kind.

A lump forms in my throat at Jimmy's name. I don't feel exemplary at all. In fact I've pretty much deserted the guys so I could find the vile monster that had taken Jimmy from us.

"We also know that you've been doing your part to protect your city. You are the best choice for high alpha." A cough escapes his mouth.

The guys and I are silent. We give him a moment to collect himself.

"You'll have until the end of the year to take a mate then claim the title of high alpha. You won't disappoint. I know you will make a fine high alpha. There's no doubt in my mind you'll surpass any thing I've achieved."

He nods dismissing us. I follow behind the guys out the door. What the fuck? I didn't agree to this!
