A Little Pain Is Worth The Pleasure

I'm pretty sure Claire told Brian about the wedding I know Dan and have only known each other for a month but I think he's the one oh god that sounds weird to say I'm going out of my league here or am I ? I don't really know where I'm going with this Brian and I were due in court on September 29th today was the 27th so I had three days to come up with a plan to keep Claire in my custody and not hand her over to Brian of course he was still her father but he's always on the road and when he's home he never spends time with her and I'll make sure the judge knows that I had a great thing going here with Dan and Brian wasn't going to ruin it not over my dead body.


Daylight was upon us and I had a huge agenda that I wanted to get started on right away I figured I'd let Dan sleep in and I handle this by myself Claire had gone over to a friends house today and I'll pick her up later today Brian had just gotten home a couple of days ago and this was his week with her so I don't have to worry about discussing the legal things with him both of our lawyers have to present if I get hassled by Brian and his hotshot lawyer I bet she wears a mini skirt and wears glasses to look sophisticated she had another thing coming if she's around my daughter dressed like that I looked over my agenda one more time before going to meet with the florist Lisa about flower arrangements and then off to the bridal dress shop for my dress fitting I walked into the florist with one thing on my mind yellow tulips.


"Hi Ma'am what can I do for you today?"

"Hi my name is Michelle Dibendetto and my wedding is next weekend and I'm looking for some tulips." I smiled.


"We may have some in stock let me go check for you." Lisa smiled back at me.


I had gotten a letter from Brian well Brian's lawyer... Oh great.


Hi Ms. Dibendetto,

I'm writing to inform you that that the court date has been moved up to next weekend you are scheduled to there at 9:00 sharp and don't have any sharp objects on you at the time upon entering the courtroom security will be present you will have three minutes to make your declaring argument before the judge makes her final decision have a great day.

I folded up the letter and shoved in my purse and went back inside to see Claire still asleep I gently picked her up and she rubbed her eyes I thanked her friends mother and carried her outside she was still asleep by the time I put her in the car and drove her to Brian's she will get to see her brother Abel he has grown up since the last time I saw him Abel belonged to Emma and Brian and Brian and I had Claire together but she was a planned pregnancy and Brian and I were still married and not at each other's throats but things change and so do people.


I pulled up into Brian's driveway and I began to get nervous I don't know why but something told me not to get caught up in my feelings Brian and I were divorced and co parenting our daughter the best way we can and we were working on our issues as co parents and as friends I hope but I'm not going to press my luck.


This co parenting thing could make us or break us completely I stood at Brian's door rang the doorbell countless times I heard what sounded like a girl in living room Brian had rushed downstairs he was mess his overall appearance made me rethink everything I handed Claire off to Brian and walked back to my car... That was harder than I thought.
