A Little Pain Is Worth The Pleasure

I looked over at my alarm clock which read 9:00 am this must be a joke or something right ? I had all the strength to pull myself out of bed and get dressed for class today our instructor Mr. Webb doesn't like it when were late and especially when were not on time that man has some strange ways of waking up in the morning I bet I saw Jessica arriving a few minutes late before I did and she already came prepared she knew me so well. I sat in front of the class which was kind of embarrassing because I seemed like the teacher's pet instead of the student which I had no problem with but this was getting to be a bit too much for the first day.

Mr. Webb walked in promptly at 10:00 but he was so functional about time but he was five minutes late this guy was a class act I tell you but nevertheless an honorable teacher everyone respected him and he was a horror movie fanatic just like me he had a procedure where he would go over today's current events and ask us the correct answer to the wrong question I don't know how this works but I'll roll with the punches.


"Do you want to ditch this loser ?" Jessica whispered to me.

"This is important information I don't want to miss it." I replied.

"Girls is there something you want to share with the class ?" Mr. Webb turned in our direction.

"No sir." I said.

"Okay class today we will be reviewing Isaac Newton's law of gravity now can anyone tell me what causes gravity ?" Mr. Webb asked.

Nobody raised their hand so it was up to me to be the saving grace and get everyone out of this hole.

"When a force has an equal and opposite reaction." I replied.

"That's correct what's your name ?" Mr. Webb asked.

"Danielle Green." I answered politely.

"Well thank you Ms. Green at least someone's paying attention today." Mr. Webb said.

Few hours went by and still it seemed like this class dragged on forever and I soon fell asleep until Mr. Webb tapped me on the shoulder and woke me from my sweet slumber and asked me if I wanted to go home already.

Jessica was long gone so I had to walk home the sun was starting to set and it looked beautiful I sat on the bench outside and watched as the sun went down and walked home in the pitch black darkness I wasn't looking for a ride so I just continued my way home knowing my parents lived in New York gave me complete freedom to do whatever I wanted without any restrictions.

... California was starting to rub off on me.


Unlocking my door, I heard my dog Fred greet me at the door with his tail wagging and his tongue sticking out this dog knows how to brighten my day and I wasn't even in a sad mood but he knew if I had a draining day this dog cheers me up so much I'm so grateful for him.


I got up the next morning and made myself some pancakes while Fred sat down on the couch I logged into Facebook and did my usual routine and checked my messages I had one from Jessica and twelve notifications from Chris my annoying ex boyfriend from back in New York he made my life a living hell this was going to stop today I clicked on his Facebook profile and did my detective work I saw that he was still in Schenectady so he is far away from Huntington Beach so it all works out in my favor but soon his new slut messaged me...


Hey slut I want to tell you to stay away from Chris he doesn't want your skanky ass everybody knows your a whore and you will do anything it takes to get your fix so this is your first and final warning stay away.


I cracked my knuckles I seriously want to put this bitch in her place Chris is none of my concern this bitch had a storm brewing but I'm waiting in the wings to execute my plan she was going to feel my wrath one way or another this wasn't the end of this I waited for a message to pop up on my computer screen but he was too much of a pussy to even message and confront me himself.



The day soon faded away and I called to check up on Jessica but I got no answer she was probably busy getting moved in down the street she was my best friend from back home we had so much in common we met when we were six years old so it's sandbox love it still is she knows me better than anyone she's my other half besides our friendship has been through the shitter and back but we have survived.

Making my way to the door, Fred had the tennis ball at my feet he looked so adorable but in all honesty I just wanted to go out tonight and have fun but Fred wasn't having it and I know I will feel bad afterwards but I need my time to just be care free Jessica was still a no go she was usually my going out buddy but tonight she wanted to stay in and enjoy a night of peace and watching The Fault In Our Stars a dozen times she watches that movie that she memorized the exact words it was kind of scary but that was the way Jessica was she had this plan of moving in with a former friend of ours but that didn't work out so well because she betrayed us both.



"Fred you know what ? Let's have a night in." I smiled down at him.

"Let's see what aunt Jess is up to." I walked over to my desk and logged back into Facebook and what I saw surprised me.


Hey Dani,
I was going to tell you in person but I knew you were going to be out already but Katie passed away this morning she told me to tell you that you meant the world to her and she thanks you for all you have done for her and her family so whenever you see this message call me.

I had gotten up from my chair and just sat in the dark in complete silence this was unbelievable what I was hearing Katie was our other friend from back home she had battled a rare heart condition since she was 2 years old I knew this day was coming she had grown into a beautiful angel now she was now at peace this must be hard on her family and her extended family as well.

I went to bed that night completely distraught and my eyes were puffy and red from crying this was the end of a wonderful life Katie was the first person to tell me she was going to go sooner than later I walked into my kitchen the kitchen was a complete mess and I had no time to clean it up even though I had no money to hire a maid even though I can do all of this by myself.


....This was beginning to be a huge burden on me.
