I Will Wait For You

"Are we going out to eat, or what? We're all wai...." Alexa walks into the kitchen, and immediately notices me locking lips with Matt. "Oh. We can wait, I guess." She walks away, as we pull away from each other again, not giving us a chance to respond. I follow after her, leaving Matt with a wink and a smile.

"So where do we want to go?" I ask, sitting on the arm of the couch, by Johnny.

"I never know what to say in these kinds of situations." Johnny is the first to speak.

I laugh. "And why's that?"

"Because no matter what I say, we can never agree on anything."

"You're going to have to get used to that, if you plan on having a girlfriend, Johnny." I say, causing us all to laugh.

"Among many other things." Zacky says.

"What does that mean Zack?" I shoot him an evil smirk.

"Oh, nothing. Women are just so fucking confusing, he's going to have to get used to never knowing what to say."

"Maybe you just haven't met the right woman." I counter.

"Are you saying that you're always agreeable and easy-going? Because I've not met a single female who is."

"Wouldn't you love to know." I laugh.

"I can vouch for her, I think, and she is usually pretty easy-going." Alexa pipes in.

"Thanks." I smile at her. "See," I say, pointedly to Zack, "There are some females out there who are pretty easy to get along with, you clearly have been hanging around the wrong ones."

"Well, maybe I've met my match, then." He smiles at me.

I feel his hand wrap around me, before I see him. "Or you could find someone else." Matt says, mainly to Zack.

"Is that a challenge?" Zack asks him.

"If it was, you would've already lost." Matt swiftly kisses me, taking me by surprise. This act earns him some cat call from the others in the room. He pulls away, and smirks at Zack.

Zack nods in defeat. "Well, I guess you've won this battle. But the next, you will not." He smiles.

"We'll see."

"Five shots, huh?" Matt asks.

"Five. Why, do you want more, tough guy?" Zack asks him.

"Guys, can we stop playing games, and go home? I have to work tomorrow." I ask them.

"Oh, come on. Stay and have some fun with us. It's only midnight." Zack says.

"Can't you just call in?" Alexa asks me, from her spot on Brian's lap.

"I really can't." I say, once again realizing that my job is in grave danger as it is.

"Come on, Lake. No one is going to know. You've never called in. What are they going to do, fire you?" She hiccups, and then laughs at herself.

"Actually, yes."

"What do you mean?" She asks, suddenly sobering up a little.

"We can talk about it later, when you're not drunk. I have to go home."

"I'm not even d-drunk!" She stumbles over her words.

"You sort of are." Brian says laughing at her. She playfully slaps him, in return.

"We'll talk tomorrow, okay? Are you going to be okay getting home?"

"Fine." She sulks.

"She'll be fine. I'll make sure she gets home safely."

"You better, or it's your ass."

"Wow. Shit's getting intense up in here." Jimmy says.

"Okay, okay. I get it." Brian laughs, and I smile.

"Y'all gonna make me lose my mind..." Jimmy starts singing.

"Up in here, up in here." Johnny joins in, making us all laugh.

"Hey, it's technically Tuesday now, right?" Jimmy asks, to no one in particular.

"Yes, Jim. Why?" Matt asks.

"Because... we got the club going up on a Tuesday." We can't help but to laugh again.

"I think you've been listening to too much rap music, Jim-bo."

"Well, I'm sorry to leave the party early, but I've really got to go." I say. "I'll talk to you tomorrow." I say to Alexa.

"What about your boyfriend?" Zack asks.

"What?"

"Matt?"

"We're not..." I start to say, but Matt cuts me off.

"Hush, Zack." He says to him, then turns to me. "I'll drive you home?"

"Says the person who just took five shots... I'll call a cab, thanks."

"I haven't taken them yet."

"No, he's too much of a pussy." Zack smirks. "He knows I'll win."

"Oh, please." Matt says smugly. "You're on, when I get back." He walks over to me, and wraps an arm around me, walking me out of the bar.

"Bye, babe!" Alexa yells after me.

"Till tomorrow!" I yell back, as I walk through the door, Matt right behind.

He gets a cab for us, and holds the door open for me to get in.

"Such a gentleman." I praise him.

"Always." He grins.

"Thanks for accompanying me home." I smile warmly at him.

"My pleasure, really." His smile not fading a bit.

We arrive back at my place all too soon.

I'm about to get out of the car, and bid him goodbye from the curb, but he follows me out.

"What are you doing? Aren't you going back to the bar?"

"Eventually. What kind of gentleman would I be, if I didn't walk you to the door?"

"I see. You're too sweet, Matt." I smile, and we walk to the door. I unlock the door, and step inside. I turn around to face him. "Thanks again for making sure I got home safely."

"It's not a problem." He smiles, and leans in to plant a kiss on my lips. I get lost in his kiss, as I wrap my arms around his shoulders. I deepen the kiss, and move to be closer to him. All too soon, he pulls away, leaving me wanting more. "As much as I love to kiss you, I don't want this to go too far too soon. Not that it hasn't already... but I don't want to ruin what this is that we have going on, you know?" He rubs a hand nervously over his neck.

"It's okay. I understand." I say, a little disappointed, but glad that he isn't denying what's going on between us, glad that he feels it too. I smile at him, and peck his lips once more, before stepping back inside my house. "Goodnight, Matt."

"Goodnight, Lakyn." He smiles, and turns away.

I watch him walk away, then close the door, before I ruin everything by chasing after him. I have go to get some sleep
