Brian’s POV

“So what did he want? Did he try to-” I trailed off, if Shads knew I left Maya alone with Bruce for a couple of minutes, he would rip me a new one.
He was on the edge since he knew we were going to the UK and Maya was meeting Bruce and I was not much calmer knowing Ave was with Cassells.

“Nothing, brown eyes. Calm down… We talked, that’s it. No need to worry and no need to worry Matt, he is already enough on edge with the whole situation, alright.” Maya reassured me, but when I had walked into the bedroom, I wasn’t too convinced that Bruce hadn’t planned anything, I didn’t like the way he had looked at her.

When we arrived at the airport, I paid the cabby and Maya and I moved towards our gate, I couldn’t make out Ave around here and frowned.
She had written me a message that they were waiting for us at the gate, so where are they now?
Was it a good that Ave and Matt had been back before us?
Or had something happened so they had to leave earlier?!

My heart was beating faster and I was getting sweaty hands. I startled when a small hand reached my arm and I snapped my head to the side, “Where are you going, brown eyes? There, at the sitting area Matt and Ave are waiting” Maya pointed to the right side and I sighed loudly when I saw both Matt and Ave sitting there.

I quickly bridged the distance between us and Ave smiled when she saw me approaching “Ave!” I pulled her into a hug, and kissed her forehead, when her body melted into mine I suddenly felt all the tension fall off me.
I didn’t know why I was so worried, but knowing I had her back here with me safely and without Cassell’s anywhere near I felt a lot better.

When she pulled away from the hug I kissed her lips hungrily, wanting to show her just how much I had missed her, wanted her and never wanted to be apart from her again, not even for a few hours, which would sadly come even sooner than I liked it, but that was a thought for another time.

“I was just gone for 3 hours, what’s going on with you?” Ave chuckled while I rested my hands on her hips, still holding her close to my body.
“Too long for my taste… so tell me… how was it?” I asked and cringed, that sounded wrong somehow, but too late to change my formulation.

“It was good… I could apologize again, and got all my stuff, Matt hurried me through the meeting and was a perfect, way too perfect watch dog, you can be proud” Ave winked at me and I nodded, I would have a talk with Matt in a bit anyway.

“And how did Ben and Maya take it?” Ave asked a little worried and I frowned, this woman was way too soft. “Maya was doing good, Bruce was… not” I couldn’t find the right word to describe it but… yeah that was about it.

“What does that mean?” Ave frowned and I shrugged “I don’t know, he had to take a time out and we grabbed the last of Maya’s stuff… His home looked pretty wasted, I guess he isn’t home much, and if he is, well he is drinking… and as sad as it is, I know that state.” I told Ave with a sad smile, I felt the same way as Bruce did when Ave had left me without a word.
“Oh” Ave gasped and I gave her a small smile “That’s past, he will get over it. He will get sooner or later that Maya and Matt belong together… and find… a replacement… or whatever he is looking for”

I pulled Ave into my side and looked over to Matt and Maya, they seemed to discuss something, but then Matt pulled Maya into his arms, nearly lifting her of her feet and kissing her. It looked so intimate that I quickly turned away and looked at Ave again.

“You look carefree…” I half stated half asked and Ave gave me a smile, which made me smile in return, but I wasn’t too sure if I really liked it, why would she feel better now? After seeing the douche bag?!

“I do feel better now. I got all my stuff, the work laptop, the sketches, my swatches, everything Maya and I will need to finally open up and finalize our store. I bet if we keep on working we can have the first designs out in a week and then we could make the opening…” Ave rushed out her eyes glowing and I smiled when another thought came to my mind, in a week Matt and I would be leaving to Big Bear, we would be missing all that… Shit… I haven’t thought about that before, but if I would tell Zack and the guys to postpone our idea finding for the album again they would want to have my balls for it.

“I’m gonna follow Maya to the restroom, be right back…” Ave kissed my cheek and pulled me away from me thoughts.
“Yeah sure, alright” I nodded absently and as soon as Ave and Maya were gone Matt stood beside me.

“Give it to me straight, Haner” Matt looked at me from the side and I saw the uncertainty in his eyes.
“I will if you will” I replied and Matt seemed to think for a moment then nodded, “Okay”
“Did Cassell’s try anything? Did anything happen? What did they talk about…” I asked and Matt rolled his eyes.

“He tried to hug her I stepped between it… We collected all her things and I had a talk as two with Cassell’s, he wanted to know why you weren’t there… and that he was just worried as a friend.” Matt said and I nodded, that was not too bad.

“Then Ave had still some of her stuff in his…” Matt didn’t finish the sentence and I narrowed my eyes “What?” I asked when he wouldn’t continue.

“In his bed room, she went upstairs and before I knew it he went after her, leaving me standing at the steps. I hurried after them, of course, but had to try a few doors to find them… Nothing happened, I swear but he was standing too close for my comfort… I mean, if that had been Maya.” Matt shrugged and I balled my hands to fist, so he did try something.

“Ave said it was nothing and I believe her, still after that I kept them always at a good distance and made sure we were out of there as soon as possible.” Matt finished up and I nodded “So that was it, he didn’t try anything else? You stepped between it? Or did he make another move?” I asked again just to be sure.

“That’s it. I was there and everything was fine. He still claims to just want the best for her and be her friend, maybe that’s the truth…” Matt trailed off and I finished for him “…Maybe not…”

“Now your turn?” Matt asked and I saw him staring at me, demanding the same answers I had wanted.
“I can make it short, because the girls are already on their way back.” I said quickly and Matt narrowed his eyes “I wanna know everything, Gates”

“I know, and honestly…. Bruce looked like shit, he seemed still pretty much hung up on her. But I let nothing happen, so don’t worry. He kept his distance and he seemed to still struggle with the fact that Maya had left him.” I pointed out, because it was the truth, even a blind could see that.

Which didn’t seem to make Matt feel any better, “Should that make this any easier for me? The fact that he still wants my girl?” Matt asked me with lifted eyebrows and anger in his voice.
“Well, first… you have a hot girl which is wanted, nice to know right?!” I said and earned a hard punch to the shoulder.

“Ouch… alright, not funny. Got it… second, he was still hung up on her, but Maya was nothing but nice. She made sure he knows she is happy, happy with you, Sanders. What I didn’t like is her wanting to be at their CD release party, so I hope we are not around when that happens… but… that was it. Nothing happened, nothing to worry… She is yours and he knows.” I finished off just when Maya and Ave appeared at our sides.

“What have you two been talking about?!” Maya asked and I shrugged “Nothing particular, I think they just announced our flight, we should get going” I said and dragged Ave towards the boarding area.

“Are you okay?” Ave asked me suddenly, her hand on my chest, stopping me from walking forward.
“Yeah… I’m good. Glad that this is over, honestly.” I gave her a small smirk and she chuckled “I’m happy, too. Now Maya and I can start our business and we can concentrate on everything back home in Cali” She smiled and I leaned down to kiss her temple, at least for a week we could enjoy being back in Cali together, afterwards we were parted again, and then not for just a few hours…

But I would be pushing that thought away from me, because the last time we were parted for longer than just a few hours it was the beginning of hell for me… and I would never, not ever let anything like that happen again!

Maya’s POV

The last week was running by so fast that I had no idea where the time had been going.
Ave and I had been working as much as we could, we settled a lot of things, started new designs, sewed a lot of dresses, shirts and tops.

And now it was just a matter of days that we would open our new shop, the boys helped us to complete the interior, Zack had helped us a lot with some of the things he didn’t need for his VU Stores anymore and as a start of we were happy with all we got.

Even thought Brian and Matt tried to tell us they could buy everything new for us, Ave and I refused to take anything from them. This was our thing, our business, we even planned on giving Zack a little present for all his work and all the stuff he helped us out with even though he swore for him it was nothing and wasn’t used anymore.

“You can’t be fucking serious! Did you tell them no way!” I heard Matt’s voice coming from the kitchen and frowned, who was he talking to now?
“I don’t fucking care” He seemed enraged and I didn’t like that, and I was curious what would cause that reaction in him, so I got up from my little work place and granted myself a small pause from the dress that I was about to create.

“Gates, we won’t… I don’t know what you will be doing, but don’t even think about-” He seemed to be cut off and I grinned, now I knew at least who he was talking to.
“I know… yeah… still.. no fucking way.” Matt saw me approach and held his free arm out for me, and as if it was the most normal thing in the world I immediately went into his side, because for me it was.

“They can be threatening you as much as they like, that won’t change my answer” I frowned, now this was really getting weird, I looked up at Matt with a frown and he sighed heavily shaking his head.
“NO… because that’s not what this is going to be, it won’t be just that! Didn’t you tell them?” Matt asked and I was really getting annoyed.

I pushed away from Matt and looked at him straight “What is this about?” I whispered and Matt shook his head.
“Fine…” I told him and Matt frowned like he wanted to say, what have you planned?!

I grinned and opened the top button of my blouse, Matt’s eyes immediately snapped down towards my hands and the button that just popped open “What the hell, babe?” Matt hissed and I grinned even more “What are you talking about?” I asked again and he shook his head once more.

“Wait a second” He hissed into the phone “Nothing really.. but-but” He seemed to search for words, and I loved that I still had this effect on him.
I opened another button “Doesn’t sound like nothing… what does Brian want?” I asked and Matt’s mouth was opening, hanging agape.

“I-I… He…they…” He trailed off when a loud cough sounded from the phone “What?” Matt snapped.
“Give me a second” He gritted out and I had now all the buttons open, but didn’t open the blouse so he couldn’t see what was underneath.

“M, don’t taunt me…” Matt growled and I smiled, I loved to hear that sound.
“Then tell me” I smirked at him, and released one hand, letting one shoulder to slip free from the blouse and Matt sucked in air.

“Fuck…” Matt sighed and held the phone back to his ear “I’ll call you in a bit” And with that he threw the phone away and with two big steps he was standing directly before me.
“You little devil, you like to play with me, don’t you?” Matt said his hands now on the blouse, and I slung my arms around his neck, pressing myself to him.
“You know I love it… and love you” I said sincerely and Matt groaned “You don’t even know, how much that turns me on”

I grinned “Hmm… more than this?” I asked leaning back from him, and letting the blouse fall open, I wasn’t wearing a bra and Matt’s eyes immediately narrowed down on my breasts, my nipples were erect only waiting for his touch, almost begging and thank god, Matt knew what I wanted the most. “It’s Brian… He said the guys want us to come over to Zack’s place to have a drink together…He also tried to refused but they are pretty resistant against a no from our side.” Matt sighed “I told them we want to spend our last day and night together, and we wouldn’t be coming” And I narrowed my eyes with that“What do you mean?”

“Babe, we are leaving tomorrow for Big Bear as you know… and since I’m gone for more than a week probably, I want those last hours just to spend with you… that’s all. I thought we could go out have dinner, or order something eat in bed, just you and me, babe.” Matt pulled his pants back up and I closed my blouse straightening my clothes.

“What if I want to see Jimmy and the others as well a final time before you leave? We could have one drink together and then go home?!” I asked with lifted eyebrows and Matt sighed “I knew you would say that…” He shook his head as if he knew he was fighting a losing battle here.

“So?” I asked and Matt walked over to me, he put his hands on my cheeks making me look at him “The point is, it never stays with one drink… and babe, I don’t want to share the last hours I have with you… It will be hard enough to be apart” Matt whined and I had to smile “I know, big guy… It will be for me as well, but we should at least have a drink with everyone and afterwards we will head home and I’m all yours for the rest of the night and tomorrow morning until you leave, how does that sound?!” I asked and gave Matt a teasing smile “And after one drink I allow you to make out with me in front of everyone, so they will kick us out anyway” I told him and Matt’s eyes lit up
“That sweetheart, is a deal” Matt said pecking my lips “Let me quickly call Gates and clue him in on our plan, I bet he will do the same with Ave, maybe we all will be out of there sooner as we thought” Matt laughed and grabbed his phone from the table he had thrown it onto.

“Alright, we will be at Zack’s in about an hour… I’ll clue you in on the plan then” I heard Matt chuckle and then Brian’s loud groan over the phone “How did she convince you to go?! Now Ave wants to as well” I heard Brian annoyed voice and Ave’s happy voice “Don’t be a baby, we have all night long”
And I chuckled, was that my little Gnome? When had she become so open about these things?
But I liked it - that was my little outgoing Gnome!

“Fine, I’ll call Zack again and let him know” Brian said finally and they hung up while Matt and I quickly went into the bathroom getting freshened up and putting some nice outfit on.

I really had pushed the thought away that tomorrow our boys and especially my big guy would be leaving, which meant even more that we had to enjoy our last night together, and I would make sure we would!
