The End
Erin’s POV
It was the start of a new day, I felt as if my life had become so bittersweet… I loved Matt, my friends were amazing but there were so many things polluting that happiness. Today I was replaying everything that had been happening…
“Are you serious? You really want to do that for us?” I heard Matt’s voice… he must have been speaking with my father in the kitchen.
“You randomly sneak demos into my bag when you come to see Erin, I know that you and the guys are talented and I spoke with a few of my friends and colleagues… this would help you succeed, truly it would” My father told him and I sat down on the stairs wrapping my arms around the banister.
“So this place is in Big Bear…. but how long are we talking?” Matt asked and I gripped tighter.
“Well you would have full access to the studio equipment and access to mentors that would lead you in the right direction… so 6 months at least” My father said and I grabbed my stuff and went out the backdoor wanting nothing more to do with that conversation… learning Matt was going to go away most likely broke my heart. School was quiet, Val and Michelle seemed to be taking some time to themselves. Hannah and Izzy were around and I was happy for that, but constantly I found myself dozing in and out of reality… things would just mute and I would feel numb. I got up and walked out of the Library hearing Izzy and Hannah call out for me…. I couldn’t enjoy it… anything. I decided to head home…. Matt was outside when I got there and he hugged me.
“E! You okay?” He asked and I rubbed his cheek and kissed him softly.
“I am gonna be fine, I heard you talking to my dad today, I think you should go to Big Bear, become the biggest rockstar ever, I believe in you Sanders” I said to him and he kissed me again.
“I am gonna make you so proud, I want you to know that… and no matter what you will be with me, be my girl, my everything” He said and I nodded.
“I love you Matt” I said and he smiled, god that smile was too perfect.
“I love you too Erin” He said kissing me again.
“Go on and call the guys to come talk to you, they will be excited to hear this news!” I said trying to keep happy and he went to do that, my dad had gone to the office and I was finally alone in my own thoughts, I wondered if things would ever slow with the amount of drama…
You start to ask yourself… were things worth it?
Am I a good person?
Do my friends deserve better??..... I lied in the bathtub.. asking myself all those questions… I was never able to find these answers and was never able to be more… more to myself… more to others… failure was inevitable.
Third Person POV
This one day it was actually cold outside, it was on the verge of raining, the overcast dark and grey just the same as the darkness that covered each and every face that gathered today. They all wore the blackest of black, the women covered their face with black lace, tears streamed out with streaks of black from mascara…. Red cheeks lingered below the boys faces… they had done their best to stop crying but this was truly the toughest challenge that could ever be faced.
“She was kind, caring, her father describes her as warm and eccentric. She loved everyone and wanted nothing but peace for everyone… these are dark times, we bid farewell to Erin Lee Collins… daughter, girlfriend, best friend, musician. Bless her soul and may we see her again in the future in the kingdom of happiness and solace” The priest said and tears erupted as friends and family dropped lilies onto the casket before they started moving it into the ground. Matt stayed while everyone was heading to the service after.
“I’m gonna miss you forever… I will never forget you Erin Collins… rest in peace and know that I love you” Matt said and Hannah came over to him and gripped his hand, she knew that he just wanted to have a moment… she respected that and they gave a moment of silence for their best friend.
There was no easy way truly to say goodbye...
