Mystery Person #2

When we got started on our mission with The Boss, we had no idea that Avenged were already making moves on our girls. No way in Hell was I going to let Matt take my girl from me. He doesn’t know her the way that I know her and he doesn’t love her the way that I love her. I’ll kill him if I have to… because if I can’t have Hannah, nobody can.

Hannah

It’s been one week and two days since something or someone had triggered our alarm system in the house, and although I trust Erin’s abilities completely I asked her to have a small team of her colleagues come by to check over the system before she rerouted it, and they all agreed that the system was completely up to scratch and that the alarms had definitely been triggered by someone breaking in and not a fault in the system, but it must have scared the burglar off or something because not a single thing was even out of place and absolutely nothing was missing so they couldn’t have come into the house. I’ll admit that calling Matt and having him come over that night made me feel better but now I felt that I needed to at least talk to him every night because he helped me stay calm and at ease so that I wasn’t scared in my own home. I just didn’t want to become too dependent on him to the point where I can’t live my life without some reassurance from a man I barely know.

I was still getting phone calls in the early hours of the mornings from the unknown number, usually when I was just getting into the house after finishing a shift at the bar, but I tried my hardest to ignore them – refusing to give the creep on the other end of the line any sort of satisfaction that hearing my hysterical voice probably brought to the sick fuck.

Tonight, though, I have the house all to myself while Erin is out at a thing with some work friends. Of course, she’d asked me to go along so that I wouldn’t be alone but I wasn’t quite ready to meet so many new people yet and had politely declined her invitation. Matt was coming over with takeout to keep me company, though, and I was keeping myself busy by clearing up around the house some more to waste time until my handsome companion was due to arrive. Okay, so maybe I was starting to develop a little bit of a crush on Matt, but that wasn’t what I was thinking about right now.

Checking the time, I saw that I still had ten more minutes before Matt was supposed to turn up, so I decided that I should quickly take out the trash. I hauled the bag out of the bin and slipped on my shoes before stepping outside via the back door and rounded the outside of the house so as not to trail any garbage through the house. Once I reached the garbage can at the roadside and dumped the bag into it, I suddenly felt as though there were eyes on me, making the hair on the back of my neck stand up. A quick look around confirmed my suspicions when I noticed a hooded figure standing across the street and they seemed to be staring at me, but it was dark out and I couldn’t see their face to be sure.

“Can I help you?!” I called out to them, but got no response. “Hello?” I called out again. “Can I help you? Are you lost?!”

The person said nothing, and made no move for a moment before slowly stepping onto the road and beginning to walk towards me. I stayed where I was and remained calm until they were close enough that I could see that they were wearing a mask to cover my face and every alarm bell in my head started to go off. I turned on my heel quickly and ran towards the front door of the house and I could hear their footsteps following me but I didn’t look back. Once I reached the door, I threw it open and rushed inside, turning to push it closed once I was inside, but a steel-toed boot in the threshold stopped it from closing and no matter how hard I pushed, praying it to close just enough that I could latch the lock on, they were just too strong for me and the door burst open wide, knocking me back. For a moment, I froze and looked at my attacker, trying to see their eyes through their mask but that was long enough for them to douse me in liquid that started to burn every inch of my skin that it touched, it was even in my eyes and my mouth. At first I thought that it was an acid attack but then I smelled it on me. Petrol. Gas. I ran, taking the stairs as fast as I could and slipped into my bedroom, leaving the door open so that they wouldn’t hear which room I’d gone into. I hid under my bed and held my breath to stay as quiet as I physically could. From where I was laying, I could see them slowly walk past the doorway, looking for me and flicking their lighter on and off as they went. I actually had to cover my mouth with my hand to stop myself from whimpering in fear. Suddenly, just as they came back and stopped outside of my door, I heard Matt calling to me from downstairs.

“Hannah?!” his familiar voice called out to me, panic in his tone. “Hannah, sweetheart, where are you!?”

The attacker ran down the hall but I could hear Matt coming up the stairs and I knew that they were going to run into each other. I didn’t dare to move from my hiding spot, not even when I heard them struggling with one another at the top of the stairs and the struggle was followed by the ten-tale sound of someone falling down the staircase. For a moment, I worried that maybe Matt had been overpowered but then I heard him call for me again.

“Hannah, please answer me! Where are you!?”

“I’m in here-“ I called out weakly, coughing as talking irritated my burning throat.

I crawled out from under my bed just as Matt came into my bedroom and pulled me into his arms. Even though my skin was on fire, I could barely see anything and all I could taste was petrol, I held onto him as tightly as I could while I realised that the person probably laying injured at the bottom of my stairs had been about to kill me.

Matt

I was excited for my night in with Hannah tonight, it would give me a chance to let her see my softer, normal-guy side so that she wouldn’t see me as just a guy in her favourite band and it would also help throw her off any suspicion she may have about me.

Before I was supposed to be at the girls’ house, I was setting up our next plan of action with Zack back at base, because I knew that I had to make her a little more dependent on me a whole lot faster than she was already becoming. I had to be her go-to guy for everything, not just her trusted friend.

In some weird twist of fate, someone else was already doing that for me. When I’d arrived at the house, the last thing I’d expected was to find signs of a struggle and an intruder in the house, but after throwing the asshole down the stairs he took off running and Hannah was too injured for me to worry about that, she needed medical attention and comfort, so I’d track the person down later. As I drove Hannah to the hospital, she made the call to Erin and sobbed the whole time she left the voicemail for her best friend to listen to when she had the chance. My heart broke for her, she didn’t deserve to be so scared and knowing that this wasn’t my doing gave me an uneasy feeling in my stomach – I knew that whoever that person was must have been the person in the house with the girls the night we triggered the alarms by accident. We’d have to get to the bottom of that, too.

Hannah refused to let go of my hand while she was checked over by doctors but she had to be given a chemical bath to get the petrol off of her skin so eventually she had to let me go, but I promised her that I’d be waiting for her when she was all done.
Once she was taken away from me, I pulled out my phone and put in a call to the boys.

“Aright, listen up.” I said once Johnny put me on speakerphone. “I want you guys to get into every security system – public and the neighbours private CCTV footage and see if we can get anything on this guy. I want to know who he is and I want to know everything about him so that I can make him regret the day he ever laid eyes on Hannah.”

Nobody fought with me, of course. Why would they? They knew how furious I was about this, and they’d want to know, too, especially Zack because Erin could have been in that house and he was becoming quite smitten with her since Brian had fallen off the radar lately, and the other night there had been a second intruder. They wouldn’t get away with any of this.

Third Person

Hannah had to soak in a huge tub for thirty-five minutes for all the chemical to wash off of her skin, but cleaning herself stung like a motherfucker and she cried to herself the whole time. She was terrified and she didn’t even want to go back to the house she was supposed to love, not even with Erin there. Erin. Hannah hoped and prayed that Erin got her message before she went back to the house and saw the mess, plus, the attacker had taken off and she was worried that he might come back and attack Erin this time, and it would be all Hannah’s fault.

Thankfully, when she was finished and dressed in a hospital gown and taken to a private room, she saw Erin waiting with Matt. She looked hysterical and came running to Hannah as soon as she saw her.

“I’m so sorry.” Hannah cried, hugging Erin tightly and burying her face in her best friends neck. “I’m so sorry, I let him into our house, I promise I’ll-“

“Hey, hey-“ Erin cut her off. “Why are you apologising, huh? You were attacked, you were almost killed and you’re seriously worried about whatever damage was done to the house?” Hannah sniffled and nodded in response. “That’s what we have insurance for, okay? For now, let’s just worry about giving your statement to the police so that they can take care of this.”

What neither of the girls noticed was Matt tensing up at the mention of the police being the ones to take care of the whole incident. He didn’t trust those pigs with anything, he would be the one to take care of this mess, and the guys would help. It was their job to do so after all, but none of their fans knew what they really did with their time off from touring and making new albums.

The Boss

Number two had fucked up. His little attack wasn’t part of the plan and he’d almost gotten himself caught just trying to scare his target and now he was sitting across from me on the other side of the desk in my office, mask in his hands looking like a sad little puppy dog.

“What about ‘ALWAYS FOLLOW ORDERS’ do you not understand, dipshit?!” I roared at him, leaning across the desk to get in his face threateningly. “You could have compromised the whole mission, do you have any idea how much damage you would have done if you’d been caught?!” He didn’t answer, so I continued. “You’re not even supposed to be in the country with your criminal record, and you’re especially not supposed to be that fucking close to her! You could have killed her!”

“Isn’t that what you want?” He finally snapped back, looking at me with a fire in his eyes. “That’s your end game, isn’t it?! I want her back, but you want her dead and out of the way so that you can fuck up the target you and your precious number one share!”

My glare softened and turned into a smirk as I walked around the desk and stood directly in front of him, hitching my skirt up slightly. “You think he’s more important to me than you are?” I asked softly, a teasing tone in my voice as he reached out to touch my bare thigh. “He’s not here, so why don’t we make the most of the privacy?”

My boys. Always so eager to please, and they knew when they’d fucked up that they had to work harder to make me forgive them, and that’s exactly what number two spent the rest of his night doing.
