I Won't See You Tonight

Lyris' POV

I waited for Science to end with Mr Sullivan, then it would be my detention with fucktard Baker. I sighed as the school bell went off and Mr Sullivan shook his head.

“Mr Haner and Baker told me.” he said with a chuckle.

“He gave me three! And it's the first day back.” I said as we both walked up to Mr Bakers room.

“New record.”

I shook my head at Mr Sullivan and walked into Mr Baker's English room. He was sat at his desk marking some papers.

“You decided to come, I see.” Mr Baker said as he saw me sit down.

“Had no other choice.” I said while getting out my notebook.

Mr Baker let a small smile grace his face as he looked at me. He then looked over at Mr Sullivan.

“Gena keeps on ringing me to tell you that you better answer your phone,” Mr Sullivan said as he sat on a desk.

I got out my phone and looked at the texts what Lysander had sent.

Lance Reid keeps on telling everyone about the fight what he wants.
I need you to meet me, tell Mr Baker that you need me.
Lyris, you need to see me.

I left my stuff in Mr Bakers room and started to run down to the music department, ignoring Mr Baker and Sullivan's shouts.

Within a few moments I got to the music department and found Mr Haner's room. I opened the door and found Lysander with Mr Haner and Mr Sanders. I walked in the room and hugged my brother. He winced in pain and I looked over him.

His left eye was starting to bruise, he had a cut on his right cheek, blood was spilling from his lip.

“I'm going to kill that fucking dick!” I shouted as I made my way to the door.

Strong arms held me back and I struggled against them.

“Let. Me. Go.” I seethed out trying to get out of the persons arms.

“You're not calm enough to go yet,” Mr Haner said.

Mr Baker and Mr Sullivan walked in as Mr Haner said that. They looked at me then over to Lysander.

“Jimmy, shut and lock the door.” Mr Haner said as he was staring to struggle with me.

Mr Sullivan did and I was released as the door was locked and shut.

“Why won't you let me out there? That prick did this to my brother!”

I went back over at Lysander and sighed.

“Where else did he hurt you?” I asked softly.

“My back,” Ly replied looking away from me.

I tensed, also knowing that Dad had left some bruise on him. I went behind him and lifted up his top. Once I saw all of the bruising I went to the nearest wall and punched it before any of them could stop me.

“Lyris, stop!” Mr Sullivan shouted as he saw my knuckles.

I was about to punch the wall again for what Lance and our Dad had done to Lysander but got stopped as Mr Haner grabbed my arm back.

Mr Haner lead me away from the wall and sat me down. He got a first aid kit from his desk and started to bandage up my hand.

“Taught yourself a lesson here.” Mr Haner said as he finished wrapping up my hand.

I just nodded and put my head on the desk.

“It's all my fault.” I mumbled.

I felt Lysander move closer to me as he wrapped and arm around me.

“Don't think that. You stick up for me every chance you get.” he whispered softly.

“Hey, Lyris look,”

I looked up and Mr Sullivan was looking at me. He was kneeling in front of my desk.

“Why are you blaming this on yourself? You couldn't help Lysander because you didn't think it would happen.”

I looked away. But I could have stopped our Dad from doing that.

“There are certain things that I can't stop. I try to, but I can't stop it.” I said quietly.

Mr Sullivan sighed and stood up. He unlocked the door and motioned Lysander and I to go. Ly went where as I stayed in the seat I was in.

“You're free to go,” Mr Sullivan said.

I sighed and walked back to Mr Baker's room. Looks like Ly went home, seeing as he wasn't around waiting for me.

I got my bag and walked the corridors and saw Mr Baker and Mr Sullivan. I smiled weakly and tried to get past them but they both blocked my exit.

“Your hiding something,” Mr Baker said.

“We all have secrets.” I replied, trying to push past them both.

“Why don't you share them with us?” Mr Sullivan asked.

“Do you want me in foster care?” I asked.

They both looked over at me and my eyes widened realizing what I said.

“Why would you go into foster care?” Mr Baker asked.

“Look, I really need to get home.”

“We need to talk about this though, Lyris.” Mr Baker said while crossing his heavily tattooed
arms.

“Talk about what?” Mr Haner asked as he walked over to us with Mr Sanders and Seward behind him.

“Lyris' care,” Mr Sullivan said while looking at the three behind me.

“We'll sort it all out,” Mr Haner said as he patted my shoulder.

I walked past Mr Sullivan and Baker and walked to the school gates. I walked home alone and frowned once I saw Dad's car. I walked in and saw Lysander sitting at the table, Dad opposite.

“What's going on?” I asked as I sat next to Lysander.

“I got home early, there is family business to do.”

I frowned again and glanced at Lysander.

“The question is why are you home so late, both of you?” Dad asked, raising an eyebrow at us.

“I-I-I was helping Mr Haner in Music.”

Dad nodded his head and looked over at me.

“Detention.” I said shortly.

“Lysander, why don't you do your homework.” Dad said, still looking at me.

Lysander hesitated but went up to his room. I looked at my hands which were sitting in my lap.

“You got a detention on your first day back at school?” he asked.

I just nodded my head and bit my lip, waiting for the explosion.

“What the fuck Lyris! What the Hell did you do?”

“Nothing too bad,”

“Lyris you better tell me now.”

“I swore when a certain teacher was around.” I said quietly, but he heard me.

Dad sighed and tapped the table a few times.

“Look at me,” he said.

I did as he said and looked at him.

“Wait in your room.”

Something told me that Dad was planning something, again. I got up from the chair and walked up the stairs to my bedroom, waiting for Hell to begin.
