Lyris' POV

“Lyris, Lysander! Get your asses out off bed and start to get ready!” Dad shouted, little did he know what we both were up.

“Just stay quiet one more minute,” I whispered to Lysander.

He nodded his head and kept on glancing at my door.

“You two better be up! I'm going to work.” we heard Dad say before we heard the front door slam.

“One more minute.” I repeated to Lysander as he sat on my bed.

I got up and looked out of the window. Dad's car was half way up the road. I sighed and smiled slightly.

“He's gone. You can go back in your room now, don't go back to sleep though, get dressed.”

“Okay,” he said before running out of my room.

I sighed again and closed my bedroom door. I didn't need a shower because I had one last night to keep me from getting up while Dad was here this morning. I went to my closet and picked out a band t-shirt and a pair of denim shorts. I put on clean underwear and and put my Nirvana t-shirt on. I started to hum to Lithium by Nirvana as I thought about Kurt Cobain.

I went to the bathroom and had a wash and brushed my teeth before starting on my make up, from foundation, mascara, both liquid and pencil eye liner, and lip gloss. I left my naturally blonde wavy hair the way it was and walked back into my bedroom.

I started to pack all of my things in my bag and I grabbed my phone, earphones and keys before making my way downstairs.

“Ly, are you nearly ready?” I called up to him.

“I just need my shoes on then I'm done.” he said as he walked down the stairs.

“We need to skip breakfast today, I didn't know how late it was.” I said as I looked over at the time. 8:19.

“Alright.” he said as he put on his black converse.

I grabbed my Doc Martins and shoved them on. Ly got up and walked to the door, his bag on his shoulders. I put on my backpack and walked out of the house. I locked the door and walked to school with Ly.

“Just call me if you ever need anything,” I said as we started to walk to school.

“I know, and vice versa.”

I laughed at him and scuffed up his hair which was also blonde. We walked into the school gates and we both went in different directions. I walked to my locker and placed some other books in my bag.

“I have your timetable,” Hanna said as she walked over to me.

“Thanks, how's your Summer been?” I asked.

“Not bad, but Mom kept on having all these parties and dinners.”

I laughed at this, her Mom was the secretary for the school, and that meant that she saw most of the teachers during Summer.

“Bet that must have been fun,” I said while laughing.

“Well it is when you see five fit teachers in just swimming shorts.”

I stopped laughing and looked over at my best friend. My jaw was open and it was her turn to laugh.

“Seriously!” I shouted attracting eyes to look at me.

“Yep, and I could call them by their first name, I guess it's an advantage.”

“Why didn't you invite me over?” I asked.

“Because I knew what was happening.” she said sadly.

“Miss Wood, you're creating a lot of disruption in the halls.”

I turned around and saw Mr Baker.

“Sorry Sir, but its Hanna. She's being a right evil bit-”

“Swear and you get a detention.” he smirked.

“Fuck it, she's being an evil bitch.” I said.

“Two detentions, Lyris.” Mr Baker said as he walked away.

I sighed and turned to Hanna.

“This is your fault.” I mumbled.

“How the fuck is it my fault?” she asked just as the bell went.

“Because if it wasn't for you I wouldn't have swore.” I said, trying to keep a straight face.

“Bullshit and you know it.”

It's true, I can't help swearing. I wonder who I picked it up from. Dad? Mom? Hanna?

I shook my head and walked to home room with Hanna. Mr Haner was outside the door, greeting everyone back. Just as I was about to walk to the doorway my name was being called.

I frowned and turned around. Lysander.

“Ly, what's wrong?” I asked.

“Lance Reid, he want to fight me. Today after school.”

“Fucking hell,” I said quite loudly.

“Is everything alright?” Mr Haner asked as he walked over to us.

“I'm going to kill that kid one day.” I said to no one in particular.

“Lyris, calm down. Just tell me what's wrong and maybe we can sort all of this out.” Mr Haner said as he looked at me and Lysander.

“You won't be able to do anything,” I said.

Mr Haner sighed and looked down the corridor.

“Mr Baker! Come here a minute.” Mr Haner shouted.

Mr Baker came towards us and Mr Haner asked him is he could watch over home room. Mr Baker nodded his head while Mr Haner took us to an empty classroom.

“What's going on?” he asked, his chocolate eyes full of concern.

“Lance fucking Reid.” I said while sitting down at a desk.

“Lysander, what has Lace Reid done?”

“He wants to fight me after school today, Sir.” Lysander said as he looked at Mr Haner.

Mr Haner nodded his head and sighed.

“Are you two busy after school?”

“Detention.” I said.

“Already?” Mr Haner chucked.

I nodded my head and looked over at Ly, he looked so scared.

“Who from?” Mr Haner asked.

“Mr Baker,”

Mr Haner laughed and shook his head.

“How many times did you swear?”

“Two.” I said with a smile.

“You need to learn how to stop in school.”

I nodded my head and looked over at Lysander again.

“Maybe Lysander can do some extra work or something like that so he doesn't have to go home straight away.” I said.

“You can help out with me in Music?” Mr Haner offered.

Lysander nodded his head and the bell went off. The three of us got out of the class room and I looked at my timetable for the first time.

I groaned and Mr Haner raised and eyebrow at me.

“English with the fucktard that gave me a detention on my first day.”

“Three detentions now, Lyris.”

Mr Haner shook his head and chuckled as he got to his class. I followed Mr Baker and sat down in my seat, waiting for the dreading lessons to come.
