Denial

Nessa woke up to the sound of the shower, but felt the bed anyway against her better judgement, her eyes still closed. When her hands felt what her mind already knew she slowly opened her eyes and sighed.

They had arrived at the island yesterday evening late, and headed to bed almost immediately. She had tried to get Johnny to go for drinks, but he was acting strange, keeping her from the bar at all costs. It was kinda weird, but in the year she had known Johnny, he had been weird more times than one. She smiled, it was okay… She was weird herself too.

She wanted to pull Johnny’s pillow closer to bathe in his smell, but a small note fell on her face instead.

Goodmorning sleepyhead, maybe you want to join me in the shower? <3

That was exactly what she needed to get out of bed right away, even though it was ridiculously early. She swung her legs out of the huge fluffy bed and made her way over to the bathroom, losing the little clothing she still had on on the way.

The bathroom was already fogged over, but she could clearly see Johnny’s silhouette through the glass door. She bit her lip and felt the heat surge in her body. It was their one year anniversary, but she was still as in love and in lust with him as she was in the beginning.
Nessa opened the door and walked in, enjoying the site of the man, her man, under the hot water, his head tilted back in bliss. She quickly bridged the distance between them, not able to stand the space between anymore.

She pushed herself to his back and snaked her arms around his torso, putting little kisses on his shoulder blades.
“Goodmorning beautiful” Johnny turned around with Nessa in his arms, immediately getting lost in her amazing deep eyes. Nessa leaned up to capture Johnny’s lips, their lips moving completely in sync before Johnny asked for entrance and their tongues continued the sensual dance.

“I missed you when I woke up” Nessa breathed as she let her hands wonder over Johnny’s biceps, arms, chest and stomach.
“We need to get an early start, I have a surprise for you, but we need to be there at 9.30”
“It’s only 7.30, we have time”

Her hands left his stomach, leaving no doubt where they were heading. Johnny groaned as her soft hands found their way around his cock. Johnny found a cadence that was slow and hard at first, but quickly became relentless. He couldn’t get to that skyrocketing pace though, so he pulled out. A whimper escaped Nessa’s mouth, her mouth almost spewing the words that were on the tip of her tongue, words that would scold Johnny, but then he turned her around. He pushed her to the wall, widened her stance a little and entered her again from the back.

The sound of slapping skin was sounding loudly over the sound of the shower, but still it wasn’t enough for Johnny. He bent over her back, looking for something to hold on to as he pounded on her. He found his grip in her breasts, holding on tightly he added another dimension to her pleasure and it wasn’t long before she couldn’t hold it anymore.

Him taking her to Hawaii for their first anniversary had been one of them.

When the car pulled up to where they needed to be, Nessa’s mouth dropped and her eyes grew big. She flew out of the car and just stared at the big piece of machinery that was right in front of her. “Are we really…?” she looked at Johnny with excitement in her eyes.
“Yes, we are really” Johnny pulled her close and stared into her eyes. “I know we aren’t able to celebrate our one year anniversary like we should and stay her for longer than a few days, but I thought that maybe looking at this island from the sky would make up for me having to go on tour so soon again”
Nessa threw her arms around Johnny’s neck and her body fully to his “You have nothing to make up for, I knew what I was getting into, but I don’t mind you making up for nothing like this! I always wanted to go on a helicopter! This is perfect!” She gave him a million dollar smile before she kissed him deeply “Thank you for this. I love you so much!”

They got into the helicopter, getting instructions on safety and do’s and don’ts and then they were up in the sky. Nessa let out little noises in excitement and Johnny couldn’t help the huge grin on his face. He lived to make Nessa the happiest she could be.

Nessa enjoyed the helicopter ride immensely, and when they landed again, the pilot took his time to tell her she had been an amazing passenger and he had seen nobody as enthusiastic as she had been. Even though Johnny knew what would be coming next, because he planned it like this, he didn’t like it at all that the man had so much attention for his love, his one and only.

“Miss, I would really like to tell you the story of Princess Naupaka and Kaui. There once lived a beautiful Hawaiian princess named Naupaka, who was adored by everyone. One day, Princess Naupaka stared longingly at the Pacific Ocean, tears streaming down her face. Naupaka’s parents came to find out what was troubling the princess. She told them she had found true love in a man named Kaui, but they couldn’t be together because he was a common fisherman and in ancient Hawaiian culture it was forbidden to marry anyone outside of their ranks.
Her parents told her the pain would fade and a more appropriate suitor would come alone, but she was inconsolable.
The princess and the fisherman went in search for a solution and took a long journey, ending up at a mountain at a temple as a last resort. But they were told there was nothing they could do and that they should pray.”

Nessa had tears in her eyes from the story, and Johnny almost regretted his plan, but then she let out a small smile and told the pilot to continue.

“So the lovers prayed, and as they prayed, rain began to fall. They knew in their hearts that their love was not meant to be and embraced for what would be the final time. When the two separated, the princess took the flower from her hair and tore it in half, giving one half to Kaui and keeping the other half for herself. She told him to go live by the sea, and she would stay in the mountains, because she wouldn’t stand to see him and not be with him. The next day, the naupaka plants that surrounded the temple on the mountain began to bloom in only half flowers for the separated lovers.

“That’s so sad” Nessa sniffed, and Johnny pulled her close, trying to comfort the woman that was so easily moved by the story told. But the pilot wasn’t done yet.

“To this day, the naupaka shrub grows in two areas in Hawaii. Naupaka kahakai grows along the coastline, while naupaka kuahiwi is only found higher the mountains. It is said that when you pick a half-flower from the naupaka kuahiwi and a half-flower from the naupaka kahakai together, the lovers will be reunited.”

He handed Nessa a small see through box that contained half a flower

“We were high in the sky this morning, so I want to give you the naupaka kuahiwi. Maybe you can find naupaka kahakai during your stay and reunite the two lovers?”

A huge smile broke through on Nessa’s face. “I most certainly will. Thank you so much for the amazing flight and for the beautiful story.”She kissed the pilots cheek, making him blush, before she got a hold on Johnny’s hand and followed him to the open jeep that was waiting for them.

Nessa clapped her hands, ready for the next part of their adventure.

The jeep ride was beautiful. It took them off road and showed them the most beautiful landscapes and wonders of nature. At a beautiful spot next to a lake, Johnny pulled out the picknick basket and set them down to have lunch. The lunch was full of food, drinks and kissing, loads of kissing and it was almost a shame to break it off, but Johnny was on a schedule Nessa wasn’t even aware of. He packed everything up and took her back to the hotel. When they reached the lobby they were awaited by a woman in traditional clothing.

“Welcome miss, we are all ready for you” Nessa looked at them confused
“What is this, Johnny?”
“I know how much you love everything Hawaiian, this woman is here to take you and get you all dressed up in traditional clothing and afterwards you will get a hula lesson. I will see you again at dinner. Everything is arranged for, you just have to surrender”
“But…”
“No buts. I love you and I want to spend time with you, but this is your chance to do something you always wanted. This is for you, please take it. I can’t wait to see you all dressed up at dinner tonight”

He kissed her extendedly before he had to let her go. She gave him one last look over her shoulder and whispered an I love you before she got that twinkle in her eyes and did as he said. Surrender.

Johnny watched Nessa walk away, making sure she was fully out of sight before he made his way to the pool.
“LITTLE MAN!!!” The familiar voices called out to him as soon as he stepped outside and he was reassured now he knew his friends were here to support him. Not that he was nervous at all, but he was just happy his family was here.
“How did it go this morning?” Brian came over to him and clapped his back “Did everything go as planned?”
“Yes! She loved the flight and the lunch was amazing too. She seemed a little hesitant when I told her she was alone for the afternoon, but it is for a good cause. And I know she will like it”
“You did great planning! So amazing!” Tammy let out excited, causing Johnny to blush deeply. He knew he made a great effort, but Nessa was worth every single bit of it.
Matt and Izzie were grinning like idiots “It is a beautiful day, isn’t it!”

Okay. Overexcited? Johnny thought at the look on their faces. Maybe they shouldn’t have started the drinking that early, he would need them later on. Speaking of needing them.
“Where are Mia and Zack?”
“I don’t know” Izzie replied “They told us they had some business to attend to this morning, but they have been away all day already and when we called their room, they weren’t there.” Even though the information she was giving him was a little strange, seeing Mia was the one that was most happy she could be here, Izzie didn’t seem to think anything of it and just smiled. Like a maniac.

Johnny stood close to her and caught her attention while the others were talking “Are you okay? Something is off with you. You know I need you to be up and awake later on right? It’s important for Nessa that you are all here even though she doesn’t know yet”
“I’m fine! More than fine actually, I’m great. Why wouldn’t I be? And I haven’t had a drop of alcohol, so don’t worry about that!” She hugged him tightly, not making it any more clear to Johnny what was going on, but he had no time to think. He needed to set up the next part of the day.

“Where the hell is Zack? He has everything we need for tonight!”
“I’m sure they will get here soon” Brian reassured him.

The friends enjoyed some drinks together, going over the plan again and again, before the hotelmanager came over and told him he got an hour before Nessa would be done. Johnny ran upstairs changed his clothes and went down again, ready to be taken to the spot where the dinner would be.

Everyone was in the lobby waiting for him, the women in beautiful dresses and the guys completely in their shadows. Johnny quickly walked over to Zack “Where have you been!?”
Zack bend his head, not looking Johnny in the eye “We had some things to do, but we are here now, aren’t we? Right in time”
“Yes. Okay. But..” Johnny started, but Mia interrupted him
“I think we need to leave, J.” her voice was sad and when her eyes finally met his, he could see they were bloodshot. He raised his brows at her in question, but Mia didn’t see, or decided to ignore him. Now he was close to her, he could see she was wearing more make up than usual, even for a party. That was weird. He turned to his friend, the woman who had helped through so many things, but when he opened his mouth to ask her what was wrong, they were called to leave.

The drive over to the beach, where the set up for the dinner was, Johnny couldn’t help but think about Mia. There was something wrong with her, and Zack was more curt than usual. He needed to know what was going on, this was a day of celebration, no room for anything else.

All thought left his head though when they arrived at the beach. The set up was beautiful. There was beautiful set table for 2, amazing flowers on the table, fire torches and a path marked with more flowers.
“This is…”
“Amazing” he heard the others whisper.

They were all in awe over the place that would be so important tonight when they heard a car come up “Go! Nessa can’t see you guys yet! GO!!!” Johnny pushed his friends to the side.
“Good luck little man!” Tammy quickly kissed his cheek before following the others.

Tammy was just out of the way when Johnny saw Nessa coming through the threes, following the path towards the table. She looked amazing and Johnny couldn’t take his eyes of her. She seemed like she belonged in her tradiotional clothing
“Johnny?” Nessa’s eyes found Johnny’s and she couldn’t hide her excitement. Johnny held out his hand to her, and kissed her softly. Then he held their connected hands up and turned her around to have a good look at her.
“You look amazing! You are always beautiful, but you are taking it to whole other level”
Nessa blushed cutely before she took a good look around “Thank you so much. What’s all this?”

Johnny kissed her one last time before guiding her to her chair “Happy anniversary, baby.”
“Oh Johnny, this is so beautiful!”

Servers came over and brought them their plates with dinner. Nessa couldn’t stop gushing over how amazing everything was, and in between she told Johnny about her afternoon. How she loved the clothes, how she had learned to hula. Johnny begged her to show him, but she promised to do that later. She was too content now, sitting here, on the beach, with the sun setting and him holding her hand over the table.

After desert was finished, the servers cleared the table and their selves invisible, knowing exactly what their place was.

Johnny looked at Nessa through the candlelight and held her hand a little tighter. He hadn’t be nervous all day, but now he was scared he wouldn’t be able to find the right words. He looked at the table and then back at Nessa who was looking at him curiously.
“Johnny?”
“Yes…?” He hesitantly answered, before finding his mind and voice again “Yes!”
He grabbed both her hands and looked at her.

“Nessa, my one and only love” Nessa got a small smile on her face, she loved it when he called him that. “You came in my life a little over a year ago and I can’t even imagine my life before you anymore. I thought I would never meet anyone anymore. I didn’t expect to find you. I’m so happy I did though. You know I love you, you know you restored all my faith in mankind again, you are my own lucky charm.”

He got up from his chair and looked behind him, seeing his friends coming in from the side. Nessa wasn’t aware of the incoming group yet.
“I have something for you”
“But Johnny, you already gave me so much”
“Just… you deserve everything… let me…. Please”

It was now that Nessa saw the friends coming in “Guys! What are you….” She looked at back to Johnny and back to the friends again. The wheels in her head were turning and something dawned to her, but she was too scared to believe this was really happening. She could only stare at what was happening before her.

Matt handed Johnny a little box before he moved back to Izzie’s side, both of them smiling like maniacs. Johnny turned to Nessa fully and handed her the little see through box, similar to the one she had gotten that afternoon.

“This is Naupaka kahakai, the half flower of the fisherman. Together we can unite the lovers again”

Nessa put her hands to the sides of Johnny’s face and kissed him deeply. Touched by the thought of putting the flowers together, a little disappointed that this wasn’t completely what she expected. But then Johnny let go of her again and walked over to Zack and Mia. Mia was crying silently, but Zack had something for Johnny.

When Johnny returned to Nessa and dropped to one knee, she could only hold her breath and her eyes watered up too.
“My dear, dear Nessa. Just like the fisherman and the princess we are meant to be together and luckily for us there is no history that keeps us apart. Believe me, I wouldn’t even let them!” Nessa giggled between the tears that were making their way down her cheeks now “I love you so much and I know that I want to be with you always. Would you please be my wife?”

Nessa was amazed by the question, amazed by the man that was in front of her, amazed by the fact that there was only one answer that would be the right one, amazed that she wanted this more than anything else. When Johnny spoke again, she knew she waited too long to give him his answer.

“So? Would you?”
