Banned in a book

Brian’s POV

Now, I was really excited what Jimmy got for me, he seemed like he had the ultimate solution how I would remember everything again… but honestly I wasn’t really convinced.
Another thing that was not to my liking was that Matt had run upstairs after Selena, I felt the need to protect her, like a big brother or something, and now she was not in my sight and I felt restless.

“So, you and Sam.. huh?” I heard Zack say next to me and I lifted an eyebrow, what does that mean now.
“We what?” I asked and he grinned “You two are a couple or what?” He asked motioning with his head over to Sam who was talking with Johnny about Jimmy’s crazy ideas, making her laugh loudly.

“We are-” I started and didn’t really know “We are having fun… we don’t know each other that long.. I mean about 3 weeks, but I have been spending with her 24/7 and I like her, and she likes me... I cant really plan anything ahead, I mean… there is still the book… you remember what Sam told you about it right?” I asked him and he nodded.

“The normal routine is, that I am sent back into it, after the month I spent with someone…” I shrugged and tried to play it of, but for real, my heart was beginning to race and my palms were getting sweaty just thinking about getting back into the book, I mean, hell I was feeling so good with Sam, so at home… I couldn’t leave her… what would happen with her…?!

“Damn.. you never been out of that book longer then four weeks? And you gotta stay 24/7 with whoever summoned you?” He asked gaping and I nodded “Yeah, I stayed less, for some reasons, but I would say anything further about it.. but here with Sam… its different, like it never have been before, if you know what I mean…” I sighed heavily… I couldn’t describe it any other way.

“You love her?” Zack asked and I looked at him wide eyes, Love was a big word… but what did the dream say, Love was the key wasn’t it? What if I loved her and then… then I would be freed?
Did I love her? Would it be enough if I loved her, or did she have to love me back? Does she love me back?

“I haven’t thought-” I started when Jimmy came through the door having an amazing looking guitar in his hands, a Schecter with black and silver stripes and somehow my fingers began to itch and I had to get up, and get a closer look on the guitar.

“Does this look familiar, Brian?” Jimmy asked and held the guitar out for me to look at and I saw all the other getting up and looking at me and the guitar.
“You got the guitar in your car?” Matt asked suddenly and I saw Selena walking beside him.
I quickly made eyecontact with her to see if she was really fine and she gave me a slight nod and a smile.

“I don’t know…” I walked closer, and he held the guitar out for me to take. I carefully took it but didn’t even know how to hold such a thing.
“Wait.. what.. no this way.. shit… don’t” Jimmy tried to help me hold the guitar and Zacky chuckled loudly behind me.
“Sit down, I’ll help you.” I sat down and Zack moved next to me. He positioned the guitar on my lap and chuckled again “Weird, I gotta feeling this happened before… not with you.. but something is familiar about this.”

I finally held the guitar and Zack told me what to do with my fingers, but it sounded terrible, whatever my fingers were doing there wasn’t right at all and Jimmy was about to take the guitar away, when Sam stopped him.
She crouched down before me, smiling up at me “Close your eyes, Brian.” I wasn’t really convinced that this would help but I did it for her anyway.

Then I heard some rustling and moving, I was about to open my eyes again when I felt Sam standing behing me, she must be leaning over the couch now. Her breathe was grazing my ear and made me shiver.

“Eyes closed, Brian” She said again and I nodded.
“Put your fingers back on the strings…” She said softly and I did as she wished, “Do you remember the day we met? That I wanted to run from you? That you would rob me?” She asked and she was talking so quietly that I bet none of the other could hear her right now.

“I remember” I softly strummed the guitar and Sam kept on talking, all these little stories of her and me and what we had done in the past three weeks, making me aware just how fast the time had run out on us.

“That’s the part from Dear God.” I heard someone say and opened my eyes, everyone were staring at me and the guitar and that was when I realized I was playing, the entire time, all different kind of songs, and it sounded good, it sounded perfect, I didn’t even have to concentrate on my fingers, they were just flying over it and it felt like second nature.

“I remember too.” I heard Zacky say “He is my dueling partner, he is my other half on stage. Fuck, Brian… how could we forget about you!” He came walking towards me, giving me a bro-hug and I finally set the guitar aside.

“I wish I knew what you are talking about guys… but I don’t… I just… can’t remember” I said and looked around the group, Zack and Jimmy smiling and Matt and Johnny with hope in their eyes.
Selena smiled at me and Sam, damn… I wished for Sam I would remember and I could break that curse that was lying on me and on the book… I wanted to stay with her… I wanted to get my chance to love her…

Sam’s POV

Brian looked around our group and I knew we couldn’t force any more out of it now, we made big steps and we needed to continue but it was already midnight and we needed some sleep now too.

But damn, seeing him play the guitar so flawlessly and songs I never heard before I just couldn’t stop him, couldn’t stop to stare at him and when I saw the big smiles on the guys faces I knew it meant something.

These were their songs, this was their guitar player… this was Synyster Gates, the stage name as Jimmy explained to me, while Brian was playing.
He was the lead guitarist and Jimmy was his best friend.. or better all of them were, but they seemed to be the closest and I could see why.

Jimmy seemed to be an amazing guy, he was funny and had such a good heart, you could only like him.

My eyes wandered to Selena, she sat next to Matt and they were talking quietly. I guess they talked it out and it wasn’t just how Selena thought, they would need some more time to get to know each other, but I liked the way she was smiling and Matt had the same smile on his face.
Liking her company as well…

“Alright, how about we call it a night now? Maybe we can meet here again tomorrow to have breakfast… or lunch? I need to check in my work, but I think we should keep this up, gather more information and then Brian will gain his memories back. I’m sure of it!” I asked into the group and I saw Jimmy hesitate, I sensed that he just wanted Brian to remember him and everything, but you couldn’t force that… it had to come naturally.

And I bet they needed to discuss everything that had been said today as well, and tomorrow another day started and another chance, to get Brian back into his real life…
I just hoped he still wanted me there, when he knew who he really was… some amazing guitar player for a famous rock band… would I still fit in that?
Or would it be over this way or the other?!

“You are right, we should get back to the hotel” Matt announced “And we would really like to come by tomorrow again. How about 10? Late breakfast? Is that okay?” He asked and I nodded.
Until that time I could manage to postpone some work and still have enough time to get some breakfast ready and work after they are gone again… or well that’s what I hoped for.
But we would see, it was time to call it a day and tomorrow something new was waiting for us!
