Brian’s POV

Selena had dropped us off at Sam’s home, she said she needed some time for herself. It was not even six yet, so we were pretty fast.
I looked at Sam, I knew she was still mad, not only because of the things I had said to Selena, but because I had to be nosy and poke my nose into her business.
I shouldn’t have known about her ex and I shouldn’t have said something about it, but I just couldn’t keep my big mouth shut.
I’m an idiot… but that was nothing new to me.

But maybe, just maybe I could convince Sam to trust my feeling, maybe I could make her see what really was going on with that Trevor guy. I had no idea if it would work and if I would really succeed but I had to try at least.

“Sam?” I asked softly and see her shoulders stiffen. God, I had really fucked up.
“Yeah?” She asks and turns slowly around.
“Can I ask you for a favor?” I wince at my own needful voice, her features soften when she looks at me and my heart beats a little faster.
“What can I do?” She asks and takes a step forward, and I knew if I would say what I had in mind, she would take a step back again.
“Do you know where Trevor works?” I ask and just as I thought she not only took mentally a step back she also did in real life, that and narrowing her eyes on me she plops down on the chair in the kitchen.
“Why?” She asks suspicious.
“Do you know or not?” I ask again.
“Yes, I do know. He is working in the company from Selena’s father. Why?” She asks and I think about it some more.
“He is?” I ask surprised.
“Yeah, why?”
“Can you drive me there?” I ask again and Sam shakes her head.
“Why in hell would you want to go there?!”
“Because I want to show you, that I am right, that something is up with the guy. Give me a chance to prove it.” I say and Sam sighs heavily.
“Maybe I can prove you that you are wrong and nothing is going on there.” Sam says and get up from the chair. She grabs my hand to drag me behind her and that was the most contact we had since early this morning and I just realized now, how much I missed to feel her skin against mine.

We drove to the huge office building and I have to blink two times. “Selena’s father owns this company?” I ask and Sam smiles.
“Yup, but he is only working a couple of hours the week, he is retiring soon. Always hoped Selena would take his place but… she was never into the business world.” Sam says absently and I have to shake my head again.
“And now her fiancé is taking over?” I ask and knew she would take it wrong, but hell, I meant it that way too.
“No, he has other people taking over, but yes at some point Trevor would take over his job.” Sam says and she parks her car near the building.
“Hmm..” I say absently and think about it “How are we getting in there?” I ask and frown at the huge gates.
“Let me do it.” She get out of the car and walks towards the door, she pushes it open and greets the guy sitting there.
I frown but quickly follow her, what the hell.

“Come on.” Sam motions me forward and we head up to the offices in the fifth floor.
“So what do you think will you see now? How he will do his secretary on his desk?” Sam asks and I gasp, but yes that was exactly what I was thinking.
“I don’t know. I just have a feeling we will be witnesses to something.” I say and follow Sam.
“Here it is, this one is Trevor’s.” She says and I nods towards the door at the end of the corridor.

We both inch closer and I can hear his voice loudly. “No, I told you so. Don’t call me on my private number.” Trevor says.
“Because I said so.” He says again and I didn’t like to standing on his door someone could walk by and see us here.
“What’s in the room next to his?” I ask and was wondering why Sam knew this place so well.
“The copy room, come on.” She takes my hand and we slip inside, now his voice is a little muffled but we can still hear him.
“She is getting suspicious already, that’s why. Don’t you get it?” Trevor’s voice is getting louder.

Another voice could be heard suddenly and a door slams shut, he must have closed his office door and put his phone on speaker.
“But Babe… I don’t like to only see you on the weekends and late at nights… I want to have you to myself.” The female voice says.
“I know, Kelly. I know, I want that too, just a couple more weeks.” Trevor says and I wince closing my eyes, if this is not the confirmation I needed I didn’t know what.
I saw Sam open her mouth wide, a strangled sound escaping her. I pull her to my body but she pushes away.
“Why weeks?” The female asks.
“I need to get this marriage over with, so her dad will finally let me get the job in the management, as soon as he is retired I can dump that bitch and take over the family business completely.” Trevor says and I ball my fists, that motherfucker fooled her all along.

“I.. I cannot…” Sam looks at me her eyes glassy and fuck I hated to see her like that.
She thought Trevor was the right guy for her friend, she thought he was a friend to her as well, but he was just a big fat lie.
“I will be home tonight, I have to convince her that everything is fine… maybe I can come by tomorrow? She sounded really upset over the phone, I have to figure out what this was about, why she would doubt… that will be settled quickly, don’t worry. Tomorrow I’m all yours again, babe.” Trevor says and I heard enough.
“You believe me now?” I ask and Sam slowly nods while a tear is running down her cheek.
I whisk it away with my thumb and look at her closely.
“Can you stay here for a second? I will be right back, but then we might have to leave really quickly, okay?” She looks confused but nods and I give her a small smile before going out of the door, leaving it ajar.

I take a deep breathe and put a smile to my face. I open Trevor’s office door without knocking and he looks up when he sees me approach, he quickly shuts of the loudspeaker, the female voice gone.
“Hey… my friend, what are you-” Trevor starts, but I hold up my hand to stop him. He looks confused and I punch him straight in the nose, his head snapps backwards and his nose starts bleeding.
Which gave ma a nice feeling, if I had to be honest with myself.
He yells loudly and holds his hand underneath his bleeding nose “WHAT THE FUCK!?” Trevor groans loudly and I take step towards him, he flinches back.
“Keep your hands of Selena, if I ever see you near her again, I will fucking break more then just your nose!” I tell him pointing at his chest and his eyes widen.
“Brian!” Sam looks at me with wide eyes and then turns around “We need to leave” She grabs my hand and I give Trevor one last warning look before following her outside.
“Why did you do that?” She asks and I grin “Because he deserved it…” I say shrugging, holding my hand up, it was swelling and hurts like a motherfucker but damn that was worth it.
“We need to drive to Selena, get her out of there and take her with us.” Sam says and I nod.

When we arrived at Selena’s house, her car wasn’t there and nobody was opening, Sam was calling her non-stop and leaving her messages, but now it was already getting late and we haven’t heard from her yet.
We went home and I put ice on my hurting hand.
“Maybe she needed some time alone, she will hear your messages and call you back. Don’t worry.” I tell Sam and brush her hair from her face.
“Let’s go to bed.” I say and she nods but I can see that she was still shaken by all the events from today.

About an hour later we lay in her bed, Sam stared up at the ceiling not saying a word and I just looked at her.
“Sam, I’m sorry. I wished I would have been wrong.” I tell her and she nods but sighes heavily.
“Thank you for saying what you did… I was so blind… just as blind as I had been with Tom. I should have known better, should have paid more attention. I knew him nearly as long as Selena knew him and thought he was perfect… I wanted Selena to be happy, and now… everything is even worse… and you saw it just on one evening, you could read him like an open book.” She says and shakes her head, I saw another tear slip down her cheek and my heart aches for her.
“He was hiding it well.” I say and she snorts. “Yeah right, that’s why you saw it right away.”
“I could tell because I… know people like him… I had a feeling and it was right… but it’s no shame to want to think the best of the people, you only wanted the best for Selena, you didn’t want to hurt her. Don’t blame yourself, Sam.” I pull her into my body, wanting to feel her close to me, have her finally in my arms, feel her warmth, but she pulls away.
I look at her, but she turns to her side, closing her eyes, and shutting me out completely.
