Banned in a book

Brian’s POV


Another day was passing by and Sam and I found some kind of routine for us. I helped her with her work as best as I could in the morning, then in the afternoon she had to go to the office, some important meeting were waiting for her.
She showed me where the meeting room was, and it was close enough so I could stay in her office.
Ethan looked up at me and frowned, I knew he didn’t like the fact that I was here and that I was with Sam.
I could see the angry glare in his eyes, but when Sam was around he tried to hide it.

“You still around?” He asks when Sam had left for her meeting.
“Yeah, still around, why? Something bothering you?” I asked having a smirk on my face.
Ethan got up narrowed his eyes on me and got himself a refill for his coffee.
“You could say that.” He said while sitting back down, his eyes never leaving me.
“What is it?” I asked the smile never leaving my face.
“Well, maybe you. Why is it she never said anything about you? Strange, huh? I mean if I had a boyfriend I would at least sometimes say his name or anything, but nothing… not a thing.” Ethan said and I nodded, he was right.
But before Sam’s birthday she didn’t even knew I would appear in her life so, she couldn’t know that…
But that was what I meant, Ethan was worried for Sam, he realizes something was off, not like that Trevor guy, he didn’t care so he wouldn’t ask.
“Well, we didn’t know where this was going with us…” I tried to reason knowing it was lame.
“Hm… and you going home soon?” Ethan asked a small smile appearing on his lips.
I know he couldn’t know, that indeed I was going, not home, but going back… into the book, leaving Sam behind…
Why does that thought hurt so much?
Knowing I would never see her again?
Because I could never be summoned by one person twice… meaning I had to let her go, and wouldn’t see her again…
“And?” Ethan asked again and I frowned.
“What?”
“You going home soon?” He asked the smile tugging on his lips.
“Not so soon, boy. Tell me, how old are you? You better cross Sam from your list, because maybe you think I didn’t realize the way you look at Sam, but I have. Tell me have you ever told her that you want in her pants? And believe me I won’t let that happen as long as I am around.”
Not that I would be around so long, but for the time being that was true, no one was supposed to get close to her but me.
I frowned, where did that possessive thought come from? Normally I am not like that… Normally?

Ethan’s eyes opened wide and I lifted an eyebrow, I didn’t mean to be an ass but honestly he poked without knowing in the wrong wound.
“What do you mean?” Ethan asked narrowing his eyes.
“Come on. I can see the way you look at her and I have seen her with you just two times. You want her, but she doesn’t know… And bro, I can tell you. Keep your hands to yourself, or we will get in trouble.”

Ethan opened his mouth but the door slams open, Sam walking in quickly. “Forgot a folder.” She smiles at me and then at Ethan, I didn’t know why, but I felt the need to mark my territory.
Before Sam could turn and run out of the office again, I snapped my arms around her waist, placed her on my lap and kissed her.
She melted to my body and a small smile came over my lips, god she felt so good in my arms.

When she pushed away from my body, she stared at me for a moment, “I need to.. my… meeting.” She whispers her hands move to her lips absently, when she notices Ethan staring, her cheeks grew pink and I chuckled.
“See you soon.” I told her and slapped her ass, before she left the office and Ethan mumbled something and hide behind his pc, but something was making me curious.

“Boy, can I ask you something?” Ethan lifted his head. “If you now wanna tell me how the sex was, I decline.”
I rolled my eyes “No, I wanted to ask you if you met Sam before she got divorced.”
Ethan nodded and I waited but he didn’t say anything.
I sighed “Listen, I think you are a nice kid. You care about Sam… I’m sorry I got in the way of your plans, but when I am honest, I am not sorry at all.” I smirk and Ethan groaned.
“Is this leading somewhere?” He asks with a yawn and I chuckle.
“I wanted to ask if you know something about her past, she doesn’t really talk to me about her ex. I just want to… make it right.” I admitted and realized it’s the truth.
“You shouldn’t cheat on her, like the asswipe did.” Ethan says absently and slams a hand over his mouth.
“Shit, don’t tell her I said that.”
“He did?” I questioned on and Ethan shook his head. “I can’t tell you more, not even if I would like you, sorry.”
I couldn’t blame him, he was a friend to Sam, she counted on him and trusted. It was good to know, when I wasn’t around someone would take care of her.
But again, why didthe feeling of knowing she wouldn’t be with me, or I couldn’t be with her was so disturbing?

A ringing noise sounded from Sam’s bag and I looked at the phone. Selena’s photo was shown and I smiled, I liked her.
She was fun, a little crazy… and that craziness reminded me of someone… but who?
I grabbed the phone and picked up.

“Hey Selena.”
“Hey sugar, oh it’s you… I’m not used to guy’s picking up her phone, but I kinda like that, does that make me weird?” Selena asked and I couldn’t hide the smile
“You seem totally fine to me.” I reply and hear her chuckle.
“Listen, is Sam near?” She asked and I looked at the still closed door to the meeting room.
“No, she is in a meeting, can I tell her something?” I asked, probably was about the trip, we wanted to start this afternoon, but it was getting late already.
“Yeah, since we will be driving four hours, I thought we could leave around five, it will be dark, but I guess Sammy won’t be ready before it?” Selena asked and I nodded.
“Yeah… it’s planned till four, but we still gotta drive home and pack a few things, I didn’t know if she told you already but we planned on staying a little longer… maybe even over the whole weekend, you okay with that?” I asked and hoped she wouldn’t say no.
“Yeah, I planned on visiting a friend of mine, too. So maybe we can part ways and meet again on Sunday, we will figure something out, I can’t wait to get started.. the dress is amazing and Trevor will love it, I know it.” Selena sounded so excited and for a second I thought if I should tell her about my suspicion with Trevor but I decided against it, maybe I could talk to the girls during the trip.
“Sounds good to me.I will tell Sam that you called and we will be ready around five.”
“I book us a hotel in Santa Ana the next days we gotta see where we stay, we just need to reach there…”Selena explained and I heard a chuckle.
“You stayin in one room right?” Was her next question.
“Yeah, I wouldn’t wanna stay anywhere else…” I replied and Selena laughed “That’s what I wanted to hear. So that’s the deal… we see us later, sugar.” She laughed again and hung up before I could reply.

“You answer her phone already?” Ethan lifted an eyebrow and I knew he was listening to the whole conversation.
“Yeah, we trust each other that much.” I said, but I didn’t know if Sam would see it the same way.

A few more moments went by until finally the door opens and Sam walks in, she plops down in her chair and heaves a heavy sigh.
“That’s settled. I’m ready…” She looks at me and I nod, perfect.
“You got anything Ethan?” He look up to her and shook his head, now being all shy again?
“If you got anything, call me on my cell. I will make a trip during the weekend but you can reach me, alright?” Sam asks Ethan and he threw me a dirty look.
‘Don’t call.’ I mouth at him and he chuckles, asshole, but still I had to grin.
“Selena called, she will pick us up at five. We need to pack our stuff, she already booked us a hotel room for tonight.” I say and saw Sam frown, probably thinking about why I talked that through with Selena.
“Okay… then let’s go. Nice weekend Ethan, until Monday.” Sam turned a final time to him and he nods “For you too, Sam.”
With that we leave and soon out little Roadtrip would begin, I couldn’t wait!
