Banned in a book

Brian’s POV

I was answering, or rather trying to answer as many of the questions Selena had for me in record time.
I didn’t have answers to all of it, and she made me think of my situation more and more.
“So you haven’t found a way to stay outside the book? You always have to get back inside after the time runs out?” Selena had asked and no… I haven’t found a way… but have I been really searching for it?
No, not really…
Had it been worth staying outside and being bound to one of the women I had been with before?
Again, no not really…

“Do you remember where you found the book? I mean if you do, maybe that can give us a hint about more details from Brian… or about Brian’s former life.” Sam paused for a second thinking
“Brian can’t remember much, as he already told you but at certain occasion he gets little bit’s from his memories… right?” Sam turned towards me and she was so right… and coming to think of it, I always remembered something when I had strong emotions involved… the most had been after the sex we shared… Sam, didn’t know that yet… and I wasn’t sure if I should tell her about it, but what I was sure about was that we had to do it again… and not only for the information I gained but for the feelings and pleasure we shared.

“Yeah, I bought it from a woman on the peddler’s market… I can take you there some time if you want to, maybe she is there again…” Selena shrugged and I nodded eagerly.
“Yes, when is that? At the weekend?“ I asked and Selena nodded.
“Yeah, this Sunday again I think, but I can check that to make sure of it.” Selena said and I looked at Sam hopeful.
“Yeah, sure we will go there.” I smiled, finding more out about the book or me, that was the only chance of ever knowing how I might get my life back.. or whatever was left from it.

Selena turned around looking outside. Trevor still didn’t come back inside, she looked saddened at the pacing man outside and I frowned, maybe I should give the girls a moment to talk, while I took a closer look at the guy, something told me he wasn’t as good as he seemed to the girls.

“Will you guys excuse me… I will see if your fiancé remembers that two beautiful women are waiting here for him.” I said with a smile and the girls grinned at me widely, while Sam quickly looked back down and I just thought, that’s the way it should be done – Trevor!

I opened the terrace door and walked outside, it was still pretty warm but already dark, only the moon illuminating the terrace.
“I told you not to call me on this-”Trevor stopped the pacing and midsentence when he saw me
“-We can discuss this tomorrow… I think this can wait until tomorrow, right? I told you all the necessary Information now, the rest can be settled then. Okay… Good night” He pushed the red button and shook his head at the phone, as if annoyed with the caller.

“Sorry, some people just don’t know when it’s time to go home and stop the work… I lost track of time, have I been gone long?” Trevor asked with a smile and I nodded.
“Well, your fiancé was missing you already.” I explained and Trevor chuckled.
“Yeah, I had pretty busy weeks, we didn’t spend as much time together as we used to. And then there are also the planning for the wedding, which is taking a lot of time as well…” He justified himself, but I couldn’t lose the feeling that the phone call he just had, had nothing to do with work at all.

I was wondering since the guy and Selena arrived here, if he didn’t give a fuck about Sam because she was just the friend of his girlfriend or if Selena described us and the situation so well that he had no need to question it. But if one of my friends would show up with a girl I never heard about and would be told that they were having a relationship no one knew, I would at least question them...
Even that colleague guy Ethan had questioned everything, and he wasn’t as close to Sam as Selena and Trevor were, right?

“How long are you and Selena a couple?” I asked to get the conversation with him rolling. Trevor looked inside, where the girls were laughing at something together and Trevor smirked.
“About 4 years now, engaged since nearly a year… it’s about time now.” He chuckled and I nodded, since 4 years… he should know about something going on in his friends live, but apparently he didn’t give a shit.
“And Selena and Sam, how long are they friends?” I didn’t really like to talk to this guy, but what the hell, maybe I could get some information out of him at least.
“Oh shit… I don’t know.. I guess since high school or something… They have been close already when Selena and I came together… and I soon had to realize these two come as a package. And you should keep that in mind, too if you plan on hanging around longer…” Trevor said and another sentence that made me frown, ‘if I plan on hanging around longer’ What the hell?
“So they are spending much time together?” I pressed and he nodded, again typing on his phone.
“Yeah, they have their lunch meetings and girl’s evening, I let them do their business, it was the best choice for me anyway.” Trevor said and I lifted my eyebrow, wow what a douche…
Why were Selena and Sam so fond of him… I looked him up and down, he was an okay looking guy, nothing special about him, he seemed pretty distracted, acted like a workaholic but I got the feeling something else was behind that… he was hiding something… but should I talk to Sam about it?
Would she believe me?
Maybe I should wait a little longer and get more information about him… Let’s keep him talking…

Sam’s POV

“So tell me about it… what happened? And how did it happen and how was it?” Selena asked and I groaned.
“That good, huh? He sure looks like that.“ Selena chuckled and I buried my face in my hands.
“Stop that please.” I mumbled out, I didn’t want to talk to Brian about what happened and I sure didn’t want to talk to Selena about it.
“Sammy, I’m not gonna stop asking so better spill it!”
“It was amazing, okay… It happened just like that.. spurt of the moment… we were cooking, nearly done with everything, we had fun, we were laughing, suddenly he cornered me against the fridge and kissed me, that got out of hand, he carried me to the couch and it happened. And now I regret it” I said it all in one long sentence and never looked up from my hiding place until I felt a slap against the back of my head.
“What the hell?” I looked astonished at Selena. “What was that for?”
“For the last sentence, stupid cow! How can you say it was amazing and then add you regret it, Look at that freaking man! He is an A+ and he seemed to enjoy the whole touching and playing boyfriend thing very much. Have you seen the way he looked at you, or touched your thigh, hot damn… I want that, too. Trevor hasn’t been home often lately… and you get everything, please Sammy… promise me don’t, don’t doubt everything what happens, just enjoy it… Babe, just once enjoy it. You deserve it. And I can say he seems like a nice guy, just take the time you have and have fun for once.” Selena touched my cheek and I gave her weak smile but still wasn’t convinced.

“Sammy, what’s the matter?” Selena asked softly and I sighed even more.
“What if… what if… I get used to him… what if that happens again and-” I started and Selena interrupted me.
“I sure hope it will” She wiggled her eyebrows and I rolled my eyes.
“What if I feel more for him by the end of the months and he has to leave? You know me… I can’t do this… sex without feelings…” I stated what was weighing down on me the entire time.
“Honey, you also thought you could never sleep with someone you barely knew, and look at you and him… and you two seemed to have fun together and I don’t only mean in bed… Just enjoy it and keep in mind it has a limit, talk to him about it… if you feel unsure… maybe he can help you with it?” Selena asked and that was when the door opened and Brian and Trevor walked back inside.

Selena got up from the couch and walked into Trevor open arms “We better head home now, we all gotta work tomorrow…” She smiled up to Trevor who nodded and kissed her forehead.
“Yeah..” I looked at the time, damn already eleven, good that I would work from my home tomorrow.
“Okay, it was really nice that you two took your time to come over.” We walked together to the door, Brian standing behind me, his hands on my shoulders and I noticed just how much heat he radiated.

“Oh no problem, I’ll call you tomorrow… Oh and keep in mind in two days we leave for the fitting of my wedding dress.” Selena looked at me pointedly and I nodded, I knew that.
“I don’t know if I like to have you two girls driving alone such a distance and staying there over night.” Trevor said and Selena turned towards him with a smile.
“Don’t be ridiculous, babe. We will be fine and you couldn’t come with us anyway, you are not supposed to see the dress.” She smiled and Trevor nodded.
“A shame.” He pecked her lips with a smile and I sighed, what a man.

“Brian is coming with us, too. So we won’t be all alone anyway.” I butted in after giving them a moment, Brian had to come along, if he wanted to or not.
“Really? He is?” Trevor asked a little skeptic and Brian looked at me a little confused too.
“Yeah, sure.. I am… won’t leave them out of my sight of course.” Brian smiled and pulled me now completely into his body.
“Perfect, see babe, nothing to worry about.” Selena gave me and Brian a quick hug and Trevor shook our hands and when I saw them driving away I closed the door, so now another night waiting for us…
