Death and All His Friends

I dropped the coffee mug and it shattered on the kitchen floor, causing me to sob and blubber, my emotions were getting the best of me. Five months pregnant wasn't much different, I just stopped puking and started sobbing at every little thing. Brian walked in the door and ran over to me looking concerned, I guess he was scared I had gotten hurt. He lifted me up bridal style and carried me into the living room.
"You didn't have to carry my fat ass in here, I could've walked,"
"No, you're not heavy and you would've stepped on glass, relax and let me handle the mess," he wiped away my alligator tears and I let him, knowing that he needed to occupy himself.
I rubbed my hand on my belly and sighed, I hated pregnancy. It was a literal and metaphorical pain. Brian walked in and plopped down on the other end of the couch, throwing my legs over his lap. He rubbed his hand up and down my leg absent in thought. Jamie started kicking and being a brat. I swear to god this child was going to be a problem. I love her to death but she is a violent little thing.
"We are doing some interviews soon, we were wondering if you'd like to come along and answer any questions since we can't,"
"Sure, that'd be cool,"
"I'm tired," I nodded in agreement, "There's a guest room, Bri,"
"I'll be okay," he laughed, "how's Jamie,"
"Being a frisky little twerp, she's not out of the womb and already abusive," I laughed.
"Jimmy and I made a promise that I'd be here if he couldn't to take care of you and your possible offspring,"
"Oh," I said, looking at my very pregnant belly.
"I love you, Nat. You're my best friend," he smiled, "Thanks for the ability to have a portion of my best friend,"
"I love you, too, Bri. Thank you for being here," I said, wrapping him in a hug.
"It's hard, we've never really had to be without him, it just feels like a black hole and I'm so scared of losing Jamie,"
"You won't, you're going to be a great mother,"
"No, I'm going to be a terrible mother,"
"No no, look how you take care of all of us,"
"Yes, but you guys can leave any time you want, Jamie can't and I can't anymore,"
"Sweets, she will adore you, this is only the beginning of your life,"
"My life ended when he died, Brian," I said, stomping upstairs and slamming the door.
My phone buzzed, I'm taking you up on the guest room offer - Bri
