Zacky's POV*

After Nessa fell asleep, I got up and went out into the backyard to smoke a cigarette. I pulled out my phone and noticed there were several missed calls. All of them were from Matt. I checked my voicemail to see what the hell was going on.

“Hey dude, answer your phone. I’ve got some things I need to talk to you and Brian about.” Was the first message.

“What the actual fuck Vengeance, this is important!” The 2nd message.

“I’m coming over!” Was the last message which was 10 minutes ago.

I sighed deeply and went to unlock the door before he came banging on it and waking up Jaymee. Just as I unlocked the door he had showed up. Couldn’t the timing be any more perfect? He grabbed my arm and pulled me outside and shut the door quietly yet fiercely. Then stood in front of me with a very serious look on his face.

“What’s the problem Shadz?” I asked.

“I think Val is hiding something from me.” He said. “She was acting very weirdly when we got home and then she knocked out early too.”

“Maybe she’s tired. I mean she did drive the girls to see the show.” I responded.

“I don’t know. Normally she would tell me that sort of thing.” He said.

Just then Brian showed up and joined us outside.

“Why do I always get called in the middle of the night? This better be good.” Brian said.

“Has Chelle said anything about Val?” Matt asked him.

“Why would she?” He asked confused.

“She’s just being weird. Maybe I’m overreacting.” He said.

“Well, duh! Val loves you. She’s more than likely just tired and if there was something truly wrong she would more than likely tell you first of all people. You’re her best friend dude. You share a different bond than we would with her. Just relax and if anything seems wrong just ask her yourself. Stop overreacting and stop blowing up my phone.” I told him and patted him on the back.

“Alright then. I guess I’ll go home and try to sleep. Sorry for bugging you guys.” He said and headed towards the door. “Goodnight.”

I waved him off and Brian just looked at me with a serious look on his face.

“I came here for nothing.” He said and sighed.

“Well, have a cigarette with me then.” I said and lit one up.
He did the same and slouched back down into the seat he was previously in. He shot me a look and I knew he was going to ask me something serious. Sure enough he opened his mouth.

“How are things with Nessa?” He asked.
“Theyre great! I mean finally I’m going to marry her and I can’t be happier.” I said.

“But?” He asked. Of course he would throw that out there because he knew me almost too well.
“But I’m afraid.” I replied.

“And why is that?”

“Because every time things start going right, something goes wrong. I’ve lost her once and almost lost her again. Every single thing tries to get in between us. I’m trying so hard to stay positive but lately I’m very cautious. I don’t want to lose her and I don’t want anything bad to happen either. Me, her and Jaymee make a great team. Those are my girls.” I said.

“Stop worrying Zack. You’re going to get so worked up it’ll create a problem rather than advert one. Just chill. She’s yours. I remember I used to be like that with Chelle. But then I realized that out of all the guys in the world, she said yes to me. You’re the one she said yes to. So shut up and stop complaining, or I’ll toss your ass in the pool.” He laughed.

He was right. Annoying, but right. We started talking about band stuff and then finished our cigarettes and parted ways. I went back into the room and laid down next to Nessa. I gave her a kiss on the forehead and then she smiled in her sleep. That smile could melt the most frozen places on earth. That is why I get scared. She’s amazing.
