First day of tour
"My car won't start." I immediately said into the speaker as Zack answered. "and I'm late!" I yelled sitting in the drivers seat of my car trying to get it to start.
Zack laughed. "Don't worry shrimp, I'm on my way. The bus isn't going to leave without you." he said as I heard a car door shut.
I sighed into my phone. "This day is already too stressful." I mumbled to him as he just laughed.
"I'll be there in five minutes." he said before hanging up the phone.
I decided to make myself busy and grab my bags out of the car. I have one full suitcase and my black backpack. I stood on the sidewalk with my suitcase sat beside me and my backpack on my back. My bright red hair was down and cascaded down my stomach. My aviators shielded my eyes from the hot California sun beating down on me on this early morning.
I watched as Zack's car pulled up next to me and the window rolled down for me to see a smiling Zack.
"Hop in, shrimp." I smirked and got my suitcase in the trunk and quickly got myself in the passenger seat.
"Thanks, Zack." I said as we drove towards Matt's house. That is where the bus is going to be parked for us to get on and start tour.
"You don't have to thank me shrimp, you know that." he replied. I just smiled and looked out the window. Zack always had a nickname for me for whenever I dyed my hair. When it was green, it was 'bean'. Now that it's red, it's 'shrimp'.
"You and your nicknames." I mumbled as we pulled into Matt's.
"Damn, it's about time you two showed up." Brian said as he stepped out of the bus to greet us.
"Shut up Haner." I said helping Zack with my bag. I made my way on the bus to be greeted with a smiling Val.
"Why are you so-" I wasn't able to finish because Val was too busy pulling me into the back of the bus.
"what the hell is wrong with you?" I asked setting my backpack on the couch.
"Did Zack pick you up?" She asked wiggling her eyebrows.
"Yeah? My car broke." I said sitting down on the couch.
"Hmmm." She hummed with a smile.
"What?" I asked confused.
"Nothing." she said innocently.
"Val" I groaned throwing a pillow at her.
She laughed catching the pillow. "Okay, alright. Last night Matt and I were talking.." She started.
"annnnnnnd?" I said
"Well, what if you and Zack could, ya know, be something?" She asked throwing the pillow back at me.
"Oh come on." I said standing up laughing. "It's Zack!" I whispered to her as I heard people coming on the bus.
"Exactly! You've know him forever! AND he's always liked you." She said standing up as well.
"No he hasn't." I replied denying the whole thing.
"Oh come on, Cand's. You've honestly never noticed the way he looks at you? or the way he acts around you? I'm pretty positive he's had a crush on you since we were teenagers." She said moving her hands in the air.
"Look Val, I know you care about me and want the best. But, things just ended with Chris. I'm kind of just going to play it single for a bit. Besides, Zacky doesn't like me like that. He's my best friend. I would know." I said grabbing my backpack off the couch.
"Alright Candy. I just want you to be happy." Val said leading the way out to the front of the bus.
"Me too." I mumbled following her.
-10:30pm
We were all sprawled out in the back lounge of the bus watching some movie. Everyone basically was passed out already. The only ones away were Jimmy and I. We were currently on our way to our first stop. Las Vegas, Nevada. We'd be playing the venue "House of Blues." and I was already pumped for it.
"You excited?" Jimmy asked from sitting next to me.
"Yeah" I said simply.
"You okay?" Jimmy asked turning to look at me. I looked over at him and shrugged my shoulders. "I don't know." I said looking back at the TV.
I heard him sigh. "Well I'm going to go to bed." He said standing up I stood up too deciding it would be a good idea to go to bed too. I wasn't expecting Jimmy to hug me.
"It's going to be okay little sis. You know that right?" He spoke softly into my hair. I nodded.
"I know, Jimmy." I whispered tears threating to spill out my eyes.
"I know things are hard at the moment, but it will get better. I'll make sure of it." He said pulling away to give me a big toothy grin.
"Alright Jimmy, go snuggle Leana." I said pushing him towards his bunk where a sleeping Leana layed. I giggled as he gave me a thumbs up before climbing in next to her.
I sighed grabbing the empty popcorn bowl and brining it to the rather small kitchen area. I jumped when I saw Zack sitting down in the booth by the table.
"Dammit Zack, you gave me a heart attack." I said as we both started laughing. I set the bowl in the sink and sat next to him.
"What are you still doing up?" he asked setting down the glass of water he was drinking.
"I was going to ask you the same." I said smiling.
"Just...thinking." he said tapping his fingers on the table.
"About what?" I asked my curiosity getting the better of me.
"Everything I guess. I don't know." He said shrugging his shoulders.
"I feel the same way." I said leaning my head back. "I just don't know what to think anymore."
"You should think about being happy. Think about the amazing fans we get to see and put a show on for." He said looking down at me.
"You're right." I said. I looked over at him. I could see his face fully. His cleaned, shaved face and his bight green eyes. I thought back to what Val said earlier. About Zack liking me. I wasn't grossed out by the fact that he might. Zack is by far one of the most attractive men I know. I just never thought of him and I being something more than friends, but the possibility lingered in my mind as I pictured what it would be like. I smiled to myself.
"What you thinking, Shrimp?" He asked softly looking down towards me.
"Everything, I guess." I said with a smile repeating his words he had just used. He smiled and looked away. Maybe Zack did have feelings for me, and maybe, just maybe, I had feelings for him...
