Candy's POV

"You have 5 seconds to back the fuck off me or im going to take that pancake and I'm going to shove it up your ass!" I heard Brian yell as I slowly opened my eyes. I groaned as the light shining in from the windows blinded me. I stretched and stood up from the couch holding my head in my hands as I made my way into Matt's kitchen.
"Will you be quiet. You're going to wake up Cands." I heard Valary say as I walked into the kitchen.
"Too late." I groaned leaning on the counter. The smell of pancakes engulfing my nostrils.
"Dick." Val said while hitting Brian with her spatula.
"My head might explode." I said getting up to get some coffee. I poured myself some and immediately started to drink it.
"You and me both." Matt said walking in and kissing Val on the head and grabbing a coffee mug. I stood leaning against the counter with my coffee remembering last night. Chris freaking out on me, mentally noting I need to find my phone, and than Zack taking care of me. Zack. I looked around the kitchen for Zack to see he was not there.
"Where's Zack?" I asked finishing off my coffee.
"Him and Jimmy went home to shower and shit." Jonny said grabbing his keys. "Which I'm about to do. So, I'll see you guys later." He said making his way out the door.
"What's later?" I asked accepting Val's plate of food she was handing me.
"We all thought it would be a good idea to go to the beach. It's a really nice day out and might as well go while we can. In a few weeks we will all be stuck on a bus together." I internally cringed at the thought while I finished my food.
"Well, than I guess I should head home then. When are we going?" I asked rinsing my plate off and setting it in the sink.
"I was thinking noon." Matt said
"Sounds good." I said seeing my phone on the counter. "I'll see you guys then!" I yelled as I grabbed my phone and made my way out the door.
I got in my car and made my way to my apartment. It was a beautiful day and the sun was shining high in the sky. That's what I loved about Huntington Beach. It was always so beautiful here no matter what time of year.
I pulled into the car park to my apartment complex and made my way up. I got to room 36B and unlocked the door. I walked in and threw my bag and keys on the nearby table making a beeline for the bathroom. I got in the shower and made sure to shave my legs since I'd be wearing a bathing suit. By the time I got out it was already 11:00am so i got dressed. I put my black bikini on and blue jeaned shorts with a white, flowy, crop top over that and my black sandals. I threw my crazy red hair up in a bun not really wanting to do anything with it. I decided it would be a good idea to pack a small bag for all my crap so I grabbed a tote and put the necessities, Towel, sunscreen, sunglasses, and a bottle of water, and my camera. I was about to put my phone in too when i realized I had 10 missed calls.
"What the hell?" I mumbled to myself flipping my phone open. All missed calls were from Chris. I checked my voicemail to see I had quite a few from him, all of him crying explaining how he was sorry and that he was drunk. I sighed knowing how he gets when he is drunk and threw my phone in my bag and decided it was a good enough time to head to Matt's.
When I pulled into Matt's it was a little past noon. I got out grabbing my bag and pulled my sunglasses on top of my head.
"Hey Cands. You look hot." Michelle, Brian's girlfriend, said as she pulled me into a hug.
"Awe thanks. You do too." I said hugging her back and giving her a smile.
"So are we ready to go?" Matt said walking out of his house and locking the door behind him.
"Let's do it!" An excited Jimmy yelled as he got into the car. We decided to take only two cars so I was riding with Zack. It was Zack and I up front and Johnny and Jimmy in the back. The rest were with Matt and Val in Matt's car. As we drove I let the window down, I stuck my hand out as we passed the many palm trees flying passed me. I was really going to miss it here while we were on tour. I sighed as the car stopped signaling we were here. A smile crept on my face as I saw there weren't many people here yet.
"I got it." Zack said as I was about to grab my bag out of the trunk of his car. I smiled.
"Thanks Zack." He just smiled back as we made out way down to the beach.
I laughed as Johnny and Jimmy ran straight down to the water.
"They are goofballs." Val said laying her towel down on the sand. I laughed and did the same next to her and Michelle laid her towel down next to mine.
"I think us girls are just going to stay up here for a bit." Michelle told Brian. I watched as he leaned down to give her a kiss nodding before walking down with Matt and Zack.
"You guys are perfect together." I mumbled crashing down on my towel.
"Awe babe. You will find someone." Val said rubbing my arm.
"I'm not trying to sound desperate. It's just I see you with Matt and you with Brian. I just want that, ya know?" I said feeling guilty about being a downer.
"You'll find it. I can promise you that. You just got to stay away from those rich, preppy idiots." Michelle said laying back down. I sighed.
"Would it be bad to get back with Chris then?" I asked quietly.
"YES!" They both yelled at the same time.
"Look, I know you want the love and affection but Chris is not the guy for you, or for anyone. He's a dick. You deserve better." Val said looking down at me. I sat up biting my lip.
"Yeah, you guys are right. Thank you." I said looking at them both which caused them to both hug me really, really tight.
"Can't..breathe." I said causing them to let go. We all laughed and decided it'd be a good idea to go down to the water.
"I hate swimming." I said as we were half way down.
"You tell us this every time we come here." Michelle said shaking her head.
"Well I do! It's cold." I said as we made it to the water line.
"That's because you weigh like 2 pounds." Michelle said stepping into the water and Val followed.
"Are you coming?" She asked moving so the water was passed her bellybutton. I shook my head no and stayed by the waterline watching them both go towards Matt and Brian. I sighed grabbing my camera off my neck and decided to take some pictures. It wasn't the best camera but it did the job. I always loved photography. The thought of capturing moments and being able to keep the forever. I took some of the water and the sky and than of everyone in the water. I got a cute one of Val and Matt as they hugged closely, and a funny one of Jimmy grabbing Michelle and throwing her in the air. I laughed to myself looking them over.
"Cands, what are you doing?" I heard the familiar voice of Zack say as he walked closer to me from the water. I showed him my camera and just smiled.
"Ya know I'm sure it'd be a lot more fun if you were actually in the water with us." Zack said with his hands on his hips.
"Probably." I said snapping a picture of him and smiling. "but it's cold." I said bluntly looking back at him.
"Comeeee on. This is your last chance before we are stuck on a bus for months." He said walking closer to me. I smiled. "Finnnnnnnne." I moved back a little removing my top, shorts and sandals and setting my camera inside my shorts pocket and let them sit on the sand. I walked towards Zack and immediately was met by the freezing, cold water.
"Jesus Christ." I cursed as I walked deeper into the water. We made our way towards the rest of the guys.
"Look who decided to join." Val said hanging off Matt.
I just smiled and tried not to show how freezing I was. When Michelle said I weighed 2 pounds she might of been exaggerating but wasn't by far. I've always had trouble gaining weight. Ever since I was younger. So here I am at the age 23 weighing 100Ibs and only 5'3.
I just stood there with the water a little past my pierced belly button watching everyone goof off. I probably would be with them goofing off but I wasn't really in the mood. I don't really know how to explain my mood. I just wanted to sleep and maybe hit Chris in the face with a shovel. I was interrupted by my thoughts when someone splashed me. I made a hissing noise as the cold water dripped from the upper half of my body. I looked to see Jimmy with a not so innocent smile on his face.
"Oh it's on Sullivan." I said walking up to him
He laughed loudly. "Bring it,Sullivan." He said moving away from me as I went to jump on him making me go fully under the water. When I came back up I was face with everyone laughing at me.
"Ha ha ha" I laughed sarcastically wiping water from my eyes.
"I believe that's a point for Jimmy." Jimmy said laughing.
"Whatever." I said with a smile.
"There's the smile I know and love!" He said accepting my many splashes towards him. I stuck my tongue out at him immaturely and we all laughed enjoying the water.
We had been in the water for about another hour when we decided we should get out and eat. We all dried ourselves off and decided to go to a restaurant right on the beach called 'Seashells and Sandwiches'' It was a cute little restaurant that we all used to go to when we were younger. I had put my clothes on top of my, rather wet, bathing suit not really caring much and grabbed my cellphone and camera. When we walked in we were greeted by the owner, Mr. Charlie, who has know us all since we were younger and is one of our biggest fans.
"A7X! What and honor!" The old man said with a toothy grin. "What can I get you?!" He asked as we sat down at a booth.
"We'll all take the famous steak sandwich. For ole times sake." Matt said to Mr. Charlie with a smile towards all us. I smiled at Mr. Charlie as he excitedly turned around to go to the kitchen.
"I honestly love that man." Johnny said sipping his water.
"I think we all can say that." Brian said with his arm around Michelle. I was about to express my love for Mr. Charlie but was interrupted by my phone ringing.
"Who's that?" A curious Val asked from beside Matt.
I looked to see that it was Chris. "It's Chris." I said with a sigh.
"I thought he was leaving you alone?" Zack asked from beside me.
"You thought wrong." I mumbled ignoring the call only to get another voicemail.
"How long has he been calling?" Zack continued.
"All day pretty much." I said looking at him.
Zack was interrupted by Mr. Charlie bringing our sandwiches. As everyone thanked him I checked my text messages.
"stop ignoring me.."
"Candy come on. You can't be serious."
"Stop being a fucking drama queen!."
The many texts continued. All from Chris.
"I'll be right back." I mumbled scootching myself out of the booth and outside for some privacy.
Zack's POV
"I'll be right back." Candy mumbled moving her way out of the booth and going outside. I sighed as I watched her pull out her phone and put it to her ear.
"I bet she's calling Chris." Val said setting her sandwich down.
"She isn't thinking about going back with him, is she?" Jimmy asked Val. Val shook her head.
"No. She said something about it earlier and Mich and I both explained to her that it would be a bad idea. I don't think she is going to." Val said. I let out a breathe I didn't realize I was holding.
"She deserves better." I said picking at my sandwich. At that everyone nodded.
"She's just lost. She doesn't know what to do." Michelle said looking back at Candy. We all could see her threw the window by the door. She was sat on a bench with her head in her hands. She was still on the phone.
"Maybe you should go out there." Val said looking at me. I looked back at Candy than Val and nodded. I stood up and made my way out the door. Candy raised her head up at the sound of the door closing and smiled at me. She had taken her hair out of it's ponytail and it was falling down her right shoulder. Her brown eyes glistened and it seemed she had been crying. I swiftly moved next to her and put my arm around her.
"Look Chris...No, no. It's over and I need the key to my apartment and that's it." Candy said as she talked on the phone. Even though she was crying she still held a strong, confident voice. Something i admired about her.
I watched as she hung up her phone and stood up quickly running her hands through her hair.
She started to pace and than suddenly stopped to look at me. "Why, why can't I be happy Zack?" She asked. As she spoke I stood up and hugged her tightly. She cried into my shoulder and I couldn't help but be pissed at Chris for making her feel this way. I ran my hand over her head to soothe her. Once she had calmed down I pulled away.
"You okay?" I asked softly. She nodded as I rubbed my hand up her right arm. "Let's just go back inside and finish up lunch and I'll take you home." I said. To that she nodded and let me lead the way back in.
