You Can't Hide From Me.

The Calm Before the Storm.

LILY ANN

I hugged my knees close to my chest, barely breathing in the hopes that they wouldn't find me in the back of the closet. I only had one chance to get out, and if I blew it, they'd kill me for sure. I thought the pounding of my heart would give away my location when I heard footsteps outside of the door, and I had to choke back the squeak when the door flung open. Luckily, I had stuffed myself behind some suit cases in the far corner, so maybe the dim lighting and the ridiculous amount of shit would obscure me from view.

No such luck...

"There you are!" I screamed as I felt his calloused hands clamp down on my wrists and pull me out of the closet, snatching roughly to free myself. Zacky's green eyes twinkled merrily as he dragged me down the hallway, whistling and acting as if I was barely a nuisance. "Syn! I found her! She was playing hide and seek, the little rascal..."

I was shoved down into a kitchen chair, so hard that it almost toppled backwards. Brian leaned down, gripping the arms of the chair and smiled at me, only causing me to cry harder. "Shhh, Lily, it's okay. Everything's going to be okay..." He reached up and pushed some hair out of my face, smiling calmly at me.

Zacky choked on his beer behind him, leaning against the counter top and adjusting his fingerless gloves. "Dude, don't lie to her. Lying breaks trust!" He snickered and pushed himself away from the counter, sitting in the chair next to me and crossing his legs. "Psst...Lily Ann..."

I shot a fearful look in his direction, chewing on my bottom lip and feeling like a rabbit caught in a trap. He smiled at me...that same god damn smile that got me into this position in the first place. "It's not going to be okay..."

*Three Months Ago*

"Reggie! Reggiiiiie! REGINA MARIE CLARKSON!" I felt a whop in the back on my head. recognizing it immediately as a pillow. I smirked and continued typing on the HP Mini laptop, furiously cranking out another chapter to my newest Avenged Sevenfold fan fiction before I headed off to work.

"Don't fucking call me that," came the muffled reply from the seemingly comatose red head that lay face down on the couch, accompanied by a one finger salute.

"Well, maybe if you'd get the fuck up the FIRST TIME, I wouldn't have to call you by your God given name!" I shouted back, taking another swig of my Red Bull.

This was how we normally started out our day. I yelled, screamed, and carried on as soon as the sun broke the horizon, and Reggie lazed about until she was forced to get up and go to work at her beloved coffee shop. We had a pretty great thing going here, though. A paid for apartment on the outskirts of Los Angeles (paid for by my dead parents inheritance money, but shit, I didn't really know the anyways...), two pretty nifty jobs in the city of angels, and the ability to roomie up our best friend in the entire world? Shit, this is shit you see in movies!

I jabbed the pointer icon of the "SUBMIT" button on the website and leaned back to drain the last of my first of many energy drinks before going to work. "I was just letting you know I was done with the story I was writing, sheesh..." I tossed the can into the nearby trash can, shouting "KOBE!" as it went in effortlessly.

Reggie snickered behind me, pushing her hand through her screaming red locks. "Fucking moron..." She shook her head, watching me in a loving way, before shoving herself off of the couch and stumbling to the bathroom. I giggled, watching her appear a few minutes later and make her way to the computer to skim over the last chapter of the story I finished. Her eyes lit up the farther she got through, until finally she gasped and threw her hand over her mouth in surprise. "They killed her?! Seriously?!"

I nodded proudly, winking at her from my position in the kitchen. "That they did, lassie! Didn't see that shit coming, did you?" She shook her head and I did a little happy dance. "Score for the fan fiction queen! Can't have a happy ending all the god damn time!"

See, Reggie and I have been writing fan fiction since we were about thirteen-years-old. Her family had taken me in and adopted me when I was seven-years-old due to some ungodly, yet still unknown, reason leading my parents to give me up. We bonded almost immediately over our love of Ninja Turtles and Power Rangers, and our similarities in interests never ended. When we were both plugged into a Creative Writing lab in middle school for one of our electives, we immediately took a liking to the course and started cranking out silly fan fics of our favorite bands and celebrities, such as Good Charlotte, Simple Plan, and Avenged Sevenfold.

In the eight years that we had been writing, we had made a name for ourselves on several well-known fan fiction websites and forums, and had expanded to social media sites like Vampire Freaks, Tumblr, and DeviantArt. We even had our own following of kids that read our shit like it was the next Harry Potter novel, and constantly flooded our inboxes with sequels and new chapters.

Little did I know that this one particular story was about to explode into something way bigger than our small websites could handle...

Notes
